Hey Everyone, it's been quite a year of ups and downs for Molly, but one big positive, is that she will be celebrating her 13th birthday on March 31st!! 🥳😍
I've been hesitating to send this update because I kept hoping we would be able to get past it, but it looks like Molly now has her final bladder infection. We've been fighting it for about 8 months now and it continues to increase its resistance, no matter what we try. Her last culture showed that there aren't any other antibiotics to try. It appears that the bacteria has colonized her bladder walls and has become resistant to everything.
All hope is not lost, and we're doing everything we can to keep the infection from traveling to her kidneys, which really will be the end.
In the meantime, we've got lots of new treatments and supplements on board to keep her as healthy and happy as possible, for as long as possible. One really neat device is an Ozone machine. Ozone therapy decreases inflammation, pain, and swelling, and also activates the body's immune system. It has germicidal, bactericidal, and fungicidal properties, and can enhance the immune system to help with chronic conditions such as neurologic disease, auto-immune disease, cancer, and allergies.
We give it to Molly in two ways; we bag her legs and let it flow over any open lesions, and we use a re**al catheter to get it inside her body to help fight, or at least contain, the infection.
So far it's working beautifully, she has no open areas on her legs, and the bladder infection has not spread.
We really appreciate everyone's support! Without your donations and positive vibes, we never could have gotten her this far. If you would like to help a little more, you can donate to GRREAT and name her as the recipient (https://grreat.org/donatesupport/), and she also has an Amazon page for her regular necessities (https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2BWA7HQMH26ZQ...)
Thank you for everything, our journey with her has been amazing and we couldn't have done it without you! Fingers crossed that she has more quality time to share. 🥰
