We'd like to wish miss Amanda Cable the best birthday ever! She is so valuable and cherished here as a horsewoman, teacher, mentor and friend. I can't even imagine life with out her! Here is a video of her horse Twix, playing big brother to my horse Dot and teasing him. Lol. (Dot even kicked down the fence wire with his tippy toe.)

WONDER PASSED THE IMPACTION! A big ol basketball sized impaction. I almost broke my brain trying to telepathically tell his body to get the basketball out. When I gave him his banamine at 2am he had about 3 huge sloppy piles of poop. He was begging me to get out of the roundpen in true Wonder style by staring at me and banging on the gate. So I brought him back to his friends and he started letting me know how hungry he was. It was hard not to feed him.
To be safe, he's going on a soft diet. I think his EORTH (autoimmune disorder that attacks his teeth) may have something to do with this impaction. It looked like a lot of undigested hay in his poop.
I'm usually pretty calm about colics. Having a barn full of senior horses, you just accept that colic is going to happen. Every once on awhile, a horse will pass unexpectedly. No matter how much you prepare yourself, it is never easy.
Wonder is my special special horse. I am so thankful that butt head is still here.
Thank you for letting me vent and blog this whole ordeal. It really helps me process. #colic #impaction #horses
Horses can bring women together that otherwise never meet outside of the barn. Friendships are bloomed no matter the age, race or profession. Especially if you are involved on a barn where everyone oulls their own weight with the monumental amount of work. There are barn mamas, barn aunties, barn sisters and barn daughters. We grow to love each other's dogs and horses. We support each other through thick and thin. We meet live long friends who become closer to us then some of our blood family. We would literally do anything necessary to make sure things are good. The friendship with my best friend is testament to how deep a barn friendship can go.
My current barn family consists of a an amazing core of women, young ladies and girls. I can't imagine my life with out them!
