July 2, 2024 One lot of Viva Turkey For Dogs, Viva Beef & Turkey For Puppies, Viva Turkey For Dogs (Ground), Viva Turkey For Dogs (Chunked) and Viva Turkey For Cats was recalled due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

"June 20, 2024 TDBBS LLC is voluntarily recalling 3,551 bags of Green Tripe dog treats due to the potential presence of foreign metal objects in the dog treat. There have been no reports of pet injury or illness regarding the potentially impacted product to date."

**RECALL ALERT 5/17/24**

PEDIGREE DOG FOOD SOLD IN TEXAS

"The affected 44lb bags of Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food have a Lot Code 410B2TXT02 and a Best By Date of March 4, 2025. You can find this information on the back of the bag near the base, next to the bar code.

It’s a limited voluntary recall affecting 315 bags of product that were sold by Walmart in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

The presence of loose metal parts in dog food could pose a potential choking threat to dogs, as well as causing internal damage if swallowed, and damage to teeth if chewed. Mars Petcare U.S. did not specify what type of metal it was, nor how it got into the bags of food.

Mars Petcare U.S. is working with Walmart in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas to ensure that the affected products are no longer sold and have been removed from inventory.

No other Pedigree or Mars Petcare U.S. products are affected or are being recalled."

December 22nd 2023 – Blue Ridge Beef is recalling its 2lb log of Puppy Mix UPC 8 54298 00169 6 due to contamination of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.

What was recalled?
Puppy Mix – 2lbs UPC – 8 54298 00169 6

All lot numbers/use by dates between N24 1124 to N24 1224

The products were distributed between 11/14/2023 – 12/20/2023. These products were packaged in clear plastic and sold primarily in retail stores located in the states of: CT, MA, MD, NC, NY, PA & VA.

The lot numbers and used by dates are located on the silver tabs at the end of the tubes.

No one wants to spend time in the ER, especially during the holidays, so be sure your guests and any small children understand that they should ask you before sharing any food with your pets, and learn and share the below:

Thanksgiving foods your dog should avoid, anything salty, high fat or with spices:

Turkey bones & skin
Gravy
Stuffing
Casseroles
Mashed potatoes
Creamed peas, any creamed vegetable, really
Chocolate, cookies, pies, and sweets (as well as anything "sugar-free" or containing xylitol; even small amounts of xylitol are deadly!
Alcoholic beverages
Raisins & grapes
Onions, scallions, leeks and garlic
Ham
Yeast dough
Fatty foods
Foods containing spices

Dog safer Thanksgiving foods include:

Sweet potatoes: A great source of dietary fiber, as long as they're not loaded up with added ingredients like brown sugar, marshmallows or maple syrup

Potatoes: Boiled or baked potatoes are the best option; it's best to stay away from mashed potatoes whipped with butter and cream, especially when garlic is added

Apples: plain only, nothing spiced or pie, apple seeds are toxic

Turkey meat: Turkey meat is okay for dogs as long as it hasn't been prepared with any seasoning; don't feed your pup turkey bones or skin as they can cause pancreatitis or other digestive issues

Green beans: These veggies should be prepared and served plain without added ingredients like butter or salt

Peas: Plain peas are fine in moderation, but creamed peas should not be fed to your dog

Pumpkin: Pure pumpkin puree is alright for dogs, but no pumpkin pie

While preparing, set some ingredients aside for your canine guests or family members to mix in with their regular diet, so you can share a modified dinner, safe and healthy for those members of your family!

Have the closest emergency vet's contact info and address ready for every weekend and holiday, so if you do need them, you can focus on your pet and not become even more overwhelmed with what to do or where to go in a crisis!

💔 It is with a heavy heart we have to inform you that the Ringtail cat passed away. Dr. Wolf warned us last night that Bromethalin is a nasty rodenticide, with a 10% survival rate, depending on when it was ingested.

We took this sweet photo of him about an hour before he passed. Don’t let his short life be in vain. When you know better, you do better.

Reach out to your local Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for natural ways to deter rodents or ask to be placed on a release site list for rodent predators.
