Was lucky enough to get to attend the annual medieval fun and play at Hamar yet again this weekend! Even though it felt a bit empty without Mugabe there by my side, and his wife did an amazing job taking care of me, and they even let me borrow and care for their iberian diva. And not to forget, who housed both doggo and I, and tagged along for another adventure she didnt know she needed.

And all of a sudden we got our first taste of winter. Mugabe is doing very well at the moment, and I’m quite sure that if we get just a little more time, we are going to reach a whole new level of quality of awesomeness that we’ve never had before. Fingers crossed his teeth will give us that time.

A little throwback to earlier this summer. I’m hoping for us to get another summer together. Only time will tell. He’s had his dental surgery, but we’re still a bit out in the open about him getting a full recovery. He’s in a belated pasture holiday now, eating all the grass he can get, in hope to stabilize his teeth enough for him to handle eating hay when there’s no more grass. All in all, I’m hoping for the best, as I am no where near ready to let him cross the rainbow bridge, but preparing my heart and soul for the worst. After all, he has been living a long and healthy life despite of his not so good teeth. But my gosh, I’m not ready. Not ready to let half of me go.

Here’s a little something to look at! The first picture isnt really looking that bad, and it is not. It has a lot of good elements to it, but if you look closely there’s a drop right underneath the saddle and behind the withers. Swipe to the second picture, and see the difference in the whole body of the horse when he manages to lift all the way through his back and up in the wither. We’re really on a good roll in his training, and more and more pieces are coming together.

As I’m under post-op restrictions for a while now, this is how pony-time will be spent for the next four weeks. Not allowed to walk my dog, but ponpon is way better behaved both off and on leash, he’s going to be my slow walking, non-pulling companion.
