We will leave them on our front porch so you can grab and go. This project has been made possible thanks to all of you that have donated! Our communities animals would be lost without you. 🐈🐈‍⬛

Please make sure your pets are safe and warm during the upcoming freezing temperatures!

WINTER IS COMING! Dangerous temperatures (for humans, but especially our four-legged friends) are headed our way. BE RESPONSIBLE. Bring your pets inside, if you can. If it is absolutely not possible, you must provide proper housing and extra resources to keep your pets warm. Leaving dogs outside during freezing weather, without proper shelter, warmth, and water IS ILLEGAL!
As some of you may have heard, word has been spreading on the streets about our investigators being busy. Over the last 2 years, our investigators have seen a drastic increase of cases of neglect and abuse. This won't do! Our investigators will do everything in their power to help you be the best pet owners that you can be. BUT, when you aren't willing to put the effort in, your animals suffer, and that becomes a problem.
The Montgomery Humane Officer Division, partnering with the Montgomery Humane Society, will do everything we can to help you keep Montgomery's furry friends warm and safe during the freezing temps. We will be conducting an increased number of welfare checks in the coming days. If we can help, we will do our best to help supply resources to individuals, while our supplies last. The catch is that you follow up on your end. With the resources that will be provided, there won't be any excuses for your animals to not make it through the cold weather.
LET US BE VERY CLEAR. If you have an animal that is kept outside and you do not heed the warnings, or take advantage of the resources that are being made available to anyone residing in Montgomery County, you WILL be prosecuted to the FULLEST extent of the law (Animal Cruelty IS A FELONY!).
If you see something, say something. If you see an animal being kept outside without proper shelter/resources and can safely talk to the owner, please offer assistance by informing them of the resources being provided.

12/3: You don't like my winter pun? How cold!

✅ Make sure you all have run through your cold weather checks: pipes, pets, people, and (safe) home heating!

Much of central Alabama will reach the freezing mark by 8 pm this evening, setting us up for a long-duration freeze tonight with low temperatures reaching the lower to middle 20s for many. A few of our typically colder locations may slip into the upper 10s!

There is a brief "mild" period Wednesday night as a weather system scoots by, offering some rain showers and lows above freezing.

But, behind that system, another shot of cold air comes for Thursday, with nighttime lows once again in the lower to middle 20s with perhaps a few more locations reaching the upper 10s!

Miss Maggie 🐈 visited our clinic a few weeks ago to be spayed! When her mom sent these before-and-after photos to us, we had to share these adorable (and funny) pictures documenting Maggie’s experience. As you can tell from the first photo, Maggie was NOT pleased during her ride to the clinic. She went home the same day of her surgery and spent the next week relaxing and recovering. The last photo Maggie’s mom sent us was taken a few days after her surgery. Mom said she was excited for her beautiful, happy and SPAYED 6-month-old sweetheart! ❤️ So are we!

Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃 We hope everyone enjoys spending this holiday surrounded by loved ones, whether they have two legs or four! We are extremely grateful for each person who has prioritized getting their pet spayed/neutered, the countless hours trappers put into TNR for stray cats, and every donation that enables us to keep our costs affordable. Your support helps us to continue to fight pet homelessness! 🐶🐱

🍎 Your pet doesn’t have to miss out on Thanksgiving. ✅ If you want to offer a special treat this week, you CAN feed them the following foods in moderation 🥕:
• Green beans
• Carrots
• Sweet potatoes
• Apples
• Pumpkin puree (not sweetened pie filling)
• White, unseasoned, boneless turkey (fully cooked)

🐩 Have a curious pet? If you are hosting, have guests put their bags in a location that your pet can’t reach. Pets may go through bags on the floor and end up finding gum, candy or medications. Also, remember to take out the trash so your pet doesn't try to find food waste that could be toxic or a choking hazard to them. Finally, always provide a quiet safe space for your pet when people visit.
