Best Friends PawEver Dog Rescue Rescuing & rehoming small dogs who are abandoned, unwanted or unable to remain in their current situ We thought maybe we could help, one dog at a time.
(17)

Our town was about to see some major changes in relation to the way the local pound was run in town and we were concerned for the smaller dogs and what would happen if they could not be rehomed. We kept it to dogs as that was what we had. That was in July, 2014. We set up one
dog run with pallets and star posts. It wasn’t pretty but almost functional. We put up a tarp along the house for shelter

to the fence and a kennel. Enough to house one or two dogs maximum. One dog came in, then another, then another and before we knew it, we grew into helping dogs unofficially, no name, no plan, just helping dogs find a new home, one that will keep them safe and one that will be a Pawever home. Out of this, ideas started. Ideas to create pens or runs, ideas to save more than one dog at a time, ideas to expand. So we moved
out of town, out of Dubbo into a place that was a decent size. We started planning more, we became Best Friends Pawever Dog Rescue. We started learning about how to become efficient for the dogs. We started learning laws, processes, best practice and most of all, how best to care for the dogs that were surrendered, either to us, to the pound or being moved on via Facebook. We are open to all kinds of rescue. We look for dogs in need – and that comes in many forms. We have had 5 week old pups through to
a 15yr old dog. They are all in need of some sort. The time came to expand again as we had over 40 dogs come through our doors and back out again and we wanted to grow and develop into a well functioning group. We moved to property that would allow this and make space for the dogs in wonderful pens with an exercise area as well (still pending). This was a dream that has turned into a reality and it will continue to grow because we put our heart and soul into caring for these dogs. How can we say no to those beautiful eyes that look at us? About Us

Mel had a dream, and Best Friends Pawever is the dream turning into a reality. Mel has always loved dogs, always had dogs in her life and realised that this is her future. She works full time for now but would like to one day turn this dream into a full time goal. Mel is the leader of the pack and great with the "doing". Rach also has a passion for dogs and loves the media side of the business. Rach is great with ideas as well as ensuring communication is kept open as quickly as possible for enquiries. We currently both work full time and run the rescue. We work hard to ensure the dogs get looked after well. We ensure they have time for human interaction, basic training, toilet training for puppies, learning to trust again along with other behavioural issues. Whatever their needs, we will help as it is our passion.

Poppy is a 5yr old Pug x Maltese x Bichon Frise.

She is a girl who is looking for a family where she needs to be the only dog in the home.

Her first 5yrs have been spent on a property so will need some support learning how to walk on lead (which she has done a handful of times) however sits on command and is eager to please. She will need to be walked daily or have the space to stretch her legs as she is active, and enjoys being around while yard work is being done. She is more than happy to sit by your side at night and let you know when she needs to toilet outside. She is used to sleeping indoors at night.

She is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and wormed.

Inbox for adoption process, any further questions and fee.

Location: Central West NSW, open to interstate adoption.

Everyone wants a Cavoodle but there is none like Daisy.
Daisy turns 2 in May. She is a model with long legs, beautiful eyes and a warm heart. You cannot help but fall in love with her. She is an affectionate dog who enjoys play time.

Daisy's new home is a place that can give her walks every day or similar style activity, play time, both inside and outside space and plenty of love and cuddles. She will require regular brushing and grooming.

Daisy has been sleeping in a crate at night and is house trained if given the opportunity to go outside. We have noticed she is a good traveller in the car. Daisy has been currently residing with 7 other dogs who she has got along with well, however, she is fed alone and will require this if she goes to a house with other animals.

Daisy has clearly had some basic training and is good with recall. She does have springs in her legs, so will need to be taught a little more about jumping on people. She appears to be quick and eager to learn.

It's time to find Rusty his new Pawever home!
6yr old male Dachshund, desexed, microchipped with vaccinations due in April. He has an overbite.
His owner had to go into an aged care home a couple of years ago so their grandson daughter took him in. He was around 3 young kids.

Why won’t anyone give Boss a chance!

$50.00 adoption fee

Boss is a 2 year old American Staffy mix.

Boss gets overlooked as he doesn’t like being in his kennel but it’s a completely different story outside of his kennel. Inside his kennel he jumps up and down to try and get your attention.
When out of the kennel Boss is more calm and really enjoys his walks or even just sitting by your side.

He loves being around people and gets happy to see anyone. He does sometimes try jump on you for hugs and pats but this could be easily trained out of him.

He has appeared okay with other dogs at the facility so far but is a bit of a rough player so would suit a home with another dog of similar size and strength that would enjoy playing with him.

Boss really is misjudged by his behaviour inside his kennel and he really does need someone to give him a chance. If you could just look past his excitement in the kennel and give him the opportunity to show you what he is really like on the outside he would not dissapoint!

Boss needs high fencing 6ft or above.

If you are interested in meeting Boss please contact us at the Blacktown Animal Holding Facility on 9839 6161 or email [email protected]
We are open by appointment only.

If you do book an appointment please remember to bring along your dog to meet Boss

The adoption fee is $99.00 and this includes microchipping, NSW lifetime registration, desexing, vaccination and vet check.

For 9 years Reginald lived in a garage with minimal human contact.

“He was a good boy and never barked or caused disruption”

That was until recently when Reginald lost his eye sight. Disorientated and confused, Reginald would bark. Not a lot, but enough to become an annoyance to his owners of 9 years.

Instead of addressing the reason for his barking (pain, confusion, loneliness, unmet needs etc.) they dropped him off at the pound and dusted their hands clean.

A problem for someone else to deal with.

It’s not the first time we’ve heard a story like this and it certainly won’t be the last time either.

Reginald, like most dogs, did not cope well with in the pound environment. He was used to living confined in a small concrete area, after all that’s all he had ever known but what he wasn’t used to was the unrelenting sound of distressed dogs barking all around him and all the strange people who would come in and poke and prod him.

It’s only fair that Reginald began to growl and snap at these people. He didn’t know them, he didn’t know where he was and he didn’t want to be touched and examined like some kind of science experiment.

His list of medical and behavioural concerns meant his only safe path out of the pound was through rescue.

Reginald needs rescue placement but to give him that option we need to find a very special home for a very special boy.

To be Reggie’s guardian angel you will need to:
1. Live in a quiet, single story home in Metropolitan Melbourne with a grassy back yard
2. Have no other animals or young children
3. Be prepared to make recommended, temporary adjustments to your home to cater for a blind dog
4. Spend most of your time at home during the settling in period and then gradually build up to leaving Reggie alone

If you or someone you know ticks these boxes then please get in touch through our website here: https://www.projectunderdogrescue.org.au/foster/

We are ready and eager to support both you and Reginald 💙

🐾 ADOPT FELIX 🐾

Age: 5 years
Breed: Chihuahua x Pomeranian
Location: Sydney

Felix, just wants to sit on your lap all day and be patted or get belly rubs. He acts like a cat, looks like a bat but is indeed a dog!

🦇 Felix is looking for a quiet adult home, he could live with older teens but doesn’t warm to visitors quickly and can be selective about who he chooses to be in his trusted inner circle.

🦇 Ideally Felix will go to a home with another small, playful dog friend, this guy is quite fun when he finds his match! However he can be quite unsure about bigger dogs, he currently resides with a lovely Staffy who he is happy coexisting with but their play styles are not quite matched.

🦇 Very fussy eater - have expanded his diet since arriving but he doesn’t enjoy change and prefers the same/similar food each day. His foster carer has worked hard to find foods he will consistently eat, that are nutritious and delicious!

🦇 Felix doesn’t mind a good sniffari around the neighborhood however he is not a dog park dog, preferring a calm wander.

🦇 He’s quite noise sensitive which means he can alert bark when he hears something outside, etc. for this reason, he’s probably not suitable for apartment living unless it was very pet friendly and very well insulated.

🦇 Training: Felix does need some ongoing training, gentle socialisation and learning cooperative care like nail trims will be important ongoing. He can be easily overwhelmed if you’re not careful so building his confidence will be a bit of a project however this boy is very charming and totally worth the effort.

🦇 Location: Sydney - Felix is adoptable within NSW and the ACT. As Felix can be selective with his friends, ideally a few meets with his would be best.

🥺 Barney hasn’t had much luck in the forever home department! He’s a special guy, who needs a special home and just when we think we’ve found out… the rug gets pulled out from underneath us and we have to start all over again.

So here we go, once more asking you to share his profile in hopes that we can find his perfect match before the end of the year 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

Age: 3 years
Breed: Jack Russell Mix
Location: Sydney

Barney is a super special boy requiring a super special home, he’s been with us for a really long time, making huge strides but his biggest feat yet will be finding a forever home!

🍀 Barney is looking for a home as the one and only, whilst he does currently share his foster home with a doggy friend, making new friends is something Barney finds a bit tricky.

🍀 A quiet home with minimal visitors is best for this handsome lad, Barney enjoys the quiet life and ideally is looking for a home in a quiet area. He is best in an adult only home but teenagers will be considered.

🍀 Exercise: Barney is a terrier and a young one at that but due to missing out on early socialisation the world is pretty scary for him so he is not a massive fan of walks outside. He is better suited to games and puzzles at home to keep his mind busy and active.

🍀 Training: Barney needs a committed family who can continue to work on growing his confidence, he is going to take a while to settle in with a new family but we are committed to guiding and helping with his transition.

🍀 Medical: Barney is in excellent health however he does require daily behavioural medication to help him continue learning and relax a little.

🍀 Barney is a super sweet, snuggly, happy boy! He is not for everyone but for a family that are open to welcoming a dog that is a little quirky, he will truly repay you with love and affection.

🍀 Location: Barney is located in Sydney’s Inner West, he is adoptable with NSW and the ACT.

To apply to adopt Barney, please fill out an application via the link 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

📣 If Barney is not for you, please do us a favour and SHARE! Our adoptions have slowed right down and finding Barney’s special someone is going to be tricky so we’d appreciate your support 👏👏👏

🐾 ADOPT LEROY 🐾

Age: 12 years
Breed: Pug x Chihuahua
Location: Sydney

Holy Guacamole! If you’re looking for a senior heartthrob, we got chu’ 😏 Leroy is now !

🥑 Leroy is an adorable senior who is definitely younger than his years! He is super low maintenance and very well house trained as long as he has access to both inside and outside.

🥑 Once familiar with his new environment, Leroy is super settled and very playful! A nice belly scratch always wins him over.

🥑 He is a creature of comfort and would spend most of his day laying by your feet or on some soft fluffy surface (his bed or yours).

🥑 Leroy loves his daily walks but has a weaker back leg so won't be able to jump or climb up stairs on his own, he is otherwise fine to run around on any flat surface. He takes a joint supplement daily (Antinol Australia).

🥑 He is fine with apartment living as long as there is a balcony where he can do his business outside (he might not be able to hold it in all the time if not).

🥑 Leroy doesn't mind being home alone but definitely appreciates the presence of his human, someone home more often than not is ideal. If Leroys human is a full time worker, another dog is essential.

🥑 Kids he is okay with! (8 and up)! Cats are a no go!

🥑 Location: Sydney! Leroy is adoptable within NSW and the ACT.

🐾 ADOPT SWAYZE 🐾

Age: 6 years
Breed: Chihuahua
Location: Sydney

If you like your dogs tiny bit mighty, meet Swayze! A pint size package with all those qualities chihuahua lovers adore 😍

🐜 Swayze could be someone’s one and only or equally share his home with a doggy friend! He is not fussed by dogs big or small but will let it be known if they’re cramping his style.

🐜 Ideally Swayze’s new family will be able to include him in their daily activities, he does like to be involved! He is okay at being left at home but prefers this is not for long.

🐜 Exercise: Swayze is not overly fond of a leash, however he still enjoys a daily outing. He currently enjoys off leash adventures and carries around the neighbourhood.

🐜 Swayze would be best suited to a home with teens and up! He is not suitable for a home with cats or pocket pets

🐜 Access inside always! Obviously! This little lounge lizard is a BIG fan of snugs, he does have a tendency to launch at your face if you’re not paying enough attention so you mustn’t mind a little French kissing!

🐜 Those that have been lucky enough to share their life with a chihuahua will understand they’re quirky! Swayze is quite a confident guy once settled and although he has moments of doubt, he is generally a happy go lucky dude who will undoubtedly make you laugh!

🐜 Grooming: whilst he doesn’t need a lot of grooming, his little big eyes need a daily wipe and he absolutely freakin’ loves a brush!

🐜 Location: Sydney! Swayze is adoptable within NSW and the ACT. As his foster carer (me) is obsessed with him, if you’re the successful candidate you will have to keep in touch with his biggest fan 😉

🐾 ADOPT DAISY DOO 🐾

Age: 13 years
Breed: Shih Tzu Mix
Location: Sydney

Oh Daisy! She’s been in care for more than a little while and has had a few ‘almost’ homes but it never quite pans out… she’s a complex girl but when you get to know her you quickly realise she’s a gorgeous, snug bug with a big heart!

🌼 Daisy is looking for a quiet, adult-only home! She currently lives with other dogs and cats without issue but is mostly into her human friends.

🌼 A family with some ‘anxious’ dog experience! Daisy has some anxieties, she is currently on medication to help her feel more comfortable and relaxed about life but her new family will need to understand that Daisy needs lots of choice about what she does and doesn’t want to do.

🌼 Daisy must have access inside as she pleases! This little lady is housetrained and enjoys her creature comforts.

🌼 Exercise: Daisy enjoys a daily sniff around the neighborhood. She’s not the type for dog parks and she’s certainly not going to be someone’s jogging buddy but a little stroll and a sniff is her jam.

🌼 Grooming: Daisy has a high maintenance coat, she tolerates some gentle brushing but a full groom is a bit too much stress for Daisy Doo, she currently gets a full clip under sedation every 4-5 months.

🌼 Daisy is a super sweetie, sure, she comes with some quirks and knows what she likes and what she doesn’t but overall she is such a great little fuzz butt who is going to make someone a fabulous, little companion.

🌼 Location: Sydney. Daisy is adoptable in NSW and the ACT.

If you meet the above criteria and think that your home might be just what Daisy is looking for, please fill the application form by clicking the button below ↓
