Here's the adorable video new ham-mom Megan shared of little Lenny enjoying a drink in his new big habitat!
Adorable little elderly mouse girl Bennie says sleep tight, and other things, too -- you can hear her talking in this video (sound up)! What sweet, happy little chirps and twitters!
Beautiful Bennie came to the hamster haven earlier this month, joining the other three mouse girls here Sprig, Morsel, and Smidge -- you can read all about when and how they were introduced to at https://tinyurl.com/mr3y6src.
I couldn't be happier that all four girls seem to be happy together and that I can give darling Bennie a happy retirement home with them, I love them all!
(Post 2 of 5 about the Puppy Bowl)
So, for folks who aren't old-timers here, some of our hamster haven residents and adoptees starred in Puppy Bowl X and XI in 2014 and 2015, respectively, in some special appearances! I had been contacted by the Discovery Channel/Animal Planet people and asked if we could participate so we brought several hamster haven hamsters down to their studio in New York City, including several who had been adopted, so their adopters got to attend, too! I was the "hamster handler" behind the scenes, it was so exciting! And we got to see all the puppies "in person"!
Here's the wonderful clip from Puppy Bowl X when the stadium experienced a black-out (much like the Super Bowl had experienced the year before, what a coincidence ) starring some of our hammies.
Adorable Robo boy Chucky posted goodnight the night before last at http://tinyurl.com/ysfnvey9 and yesterday I posted some playground photos of him at http://tinyurl.com/5hfj77ys. Here's a little video of him in one of the playground wheels. Roborovski dwarf hamster hind legs look relatively far apart, I think -- to me he looks a little like a wind-up toy when he runs! ;-)
Thank you again, dear Sharai for sharing this cute video of adorable Comet "attacking" a millet spray!
Sharia wrote, "I bought Comet a bag of millet [millet sprays, i.e. on the stalk]. She's getting quite a workout! She's so darling and tough at the same time. She has more energy than any of my previous hamsters. Such a sweetheart.
"Marissa was holding the millet. Comet has another millet that she was snacking on. We weren't teasing her... just wanted to see if she wanted to play. And she did!"
What a fun interactive toy/treat idea!
You can see when "repeat offenders" ;-) (repeat adopters) Sharai, Craig, Marissa, and Jordan (Craig and Marissa in absentia for the pick-up but still very much part of Comet's life) adopted precious Comet last August at https://tinyurl.com/5bftnh3m.
Thank you so much again, dear Bill, for the lovely updates on darling Rey (formerly Tiddlywink), and especially for having adopted her and for all your overnight fostering transport help on Saturday!
Bill wrote, in part, "She’s doing great, she’s a little timid at times but once I pick her up, she settles in...she loves her wheel, and she’s enjoying her treats and her food, she’s just such a gentle sweetheart...the silhouette right behind her on the shirt is the character Rey that she’s named after."
You can see when Bill adopted then-Tiddlywink/now-Rey at https://tinyurl.com/e4mmwnsj when he also transported darling Syrian hamster Dudley and baby mouse girls Smidge and Morsel to me at https://tinyurl.com/e4mmwnsj.
Little Syrian hamster boy Blanco is going to say goodnight later tonight but here's a little "sneak preview" with a video of this entertaining little "hyper hamster"!
What a wonderful, sweet update on adorable little Comet who was adopted on Saturday by "repeat offender" ;-) Sharai and the rest of her HAMily as I posted at https://tinyurl.com/5bftnh3m!
Here's a video that Sharai sent me of Comet in her playground. Sharai wrote, "She is such a doll. I love that little Comet. I get up early to play with her. She loves to be held. Nighttime is all about her from 7pm to 11pm. I am working during the day, but Craig [Sharai's husband] is giving her attention when he's home. I think she is feeling loved and cared for. She has her wheels for when we are asleep at night."
I miss Comet here but couldn't be happier for her and her new HAMily!
...And here's another little video of Anna the gerbil in one of the playgrounds. She can even power the heavy 12" Silent [sic] Spinner!
Adorable gerbil (adoragerbil ;-) ) Anna (who posted last night) just loves out-of-cage playground time! Even though her big bin cage has lots of things to do, too, a change of scenery with different experiences is very life-enhancing, I think, and Anna seems to, too! As you can see, even a little gerbil can manage to power a big 12" wheel -- Anna loves it, she can really stretch out and run full speed!
(Please note that Anna's short tail was caused by an injury of unknown origin but that occurred before she was originally rescued from a terrible hoarding situation by wonderful Abby of Protectors of Paws & Claws in 2021.)
Here's another video of adorable Mochaccino that his newly adoptive ham-mom "repeat offender" ;-) Liz sent me of him exploring his nice big Prevue Universal 528 cage -- I posted about his adoption on Saturday at https://tinyurl.com/nh7zw2ea.
You can see another video of him at https://tinyurl.com/yzvpwvkj. Note all the added features in his cage including a suspended hammock-tube and a "Critter Space Pod", as well as various shelves attached to the wire walls -- these not only add extra fun but make the cage a little safer since they mitigate falls if and when the hamster climbs (since it's a tall cage).
...And here's a video of Mochaccino exploring his new big Prevue Universal 528 cage that his adoptive ham-mom Liz sent me (I just posted about his adoption at https://tinyurl.com/nh7zw2ea). I know he must think he's in heaven!
Liz wrote, "He was so excited checking out his new home! I love him already, Claudie."
I'm so happy for them both!
Thank you so much again, dear Sharai, for sharing this sweet video of adorable Snowberry enjoying your loving pets, what a happy, lucky little boy!
You can see when Sharai and HAMily adopted Snowberry last October at https://tinyurl.com/2p4up7cr.
Video #2 of 2
And here's the second video Bill/ Nikos Rikos sent me of adorable Cleo Cazo having a blast on the bed in extra long wrapping paper tubes!
Video #1 of 2
A couple of weeks ago I posted the wonderful video from Bill (aka Nikos Rikos) of little Cleo Cazo enjoying some runaround time of Bill's bed (https://tinyurl.com/3ya8chfm -- you can read there about Bill and Cleo Cazo, too). Here's an enhanced adventure Bill recently shared! Bill wrote, "Cleo and I combined her other favorite past time which are extra long, wrapping paper tunnels.
Usually, I have these in the extra big playpen that I set up for them at night but it’s nice case I put them on the bed and as you can see if she loves these the most. I recommend to any hamster owner they get the extra long wrapping paper tubes."
Thank you again dear Bill (aka Nikos Rikos the professional wrestler, personal trainer, animal lover, adopter, rescuer, volunteer, friend, and excellent ham-dad!) for sharing this great video of adorable little Cleo Cazo enjoying an adventure on the vast expanse of your bed (Bill wrote, "Cleo enjoying one of her favorite pastimes, running around on the bed lol" !) :-) (Please note that Bill keeps very careful watch that she does not fall of the edge!)
You can see when Bill adopted little Cleo Cazo, originally called Anisha, way back in September 2021 at https://tinyurl.com/4x3ccy77 .
And you can see when Cleo Cazo, then Anisha, was rescued from a terrible abandonment situation in August 2021 at https://tinyurl.com/2maf4ty2 -- as I wrote there, she was abandoned in a Bronx NY apartment when the tenants moved out, left in a TINY "critter carrier" (approximately 4.5" X 7") apparently in which she had been living with nothing but some wood shavings. The apartment manager, a kind young woman named Anisha, didn't discover the hamster until SEVEN DAYS later, having been on vacation when she went into the supposedly empty apartment -- I don't know how the poor little hammie survived because she had NO WATER in her tiny enclosure! 🙁 Of course, Anisha (after whom I named the hamster, of course) and her dad immediately gave her water and food (there was a bag of hamster food left behind) and, fortunately, found me online and brought her to me.
Cleo is also a survivor of a serious ovarian problem and underwent very successful spay surgery in January 2022 as I wrote about at https://tinyurl.com/2s38kctm!
I'm so happy darling Cleo Cazo is having the life she so richly deserves, especially thanks to Bill!
This video from wonderful Victoria is of adorable mouse Cowie "popcorning"! From time to time I've mentioned how much of an emotional roller coaster, however cliché the expression, I find animal rescue to be. Last night I posted the sad news about the sudden passing of my darling little mouse Bobbie Jo (https://tinyurl.com/2s435nxu) a few days ago. But yesterday, coincidentally, our friend Victoria who adopted little mouse Cowie, formerly Miss Mouse, whom I had fostered for a week last month (https://tinyurl.com/245y2b75), before I posted about Bobbie Jo, sent me such a happy update about Cowie who, coincidentally, looks similar to darling Bobbie Jo, may she rest in peace (though Cowie is black and white while Bobbie Jo was chocolate and white).
Here is the wonderful video that Victoria shared with me, showing a very happy Cowie doing what is called "popcorning," when an excited, happy mouse jumps around like this as you can see! Victoria wrote,
"I wanted to give you a small update on Cowie girl! She’s doing really great, she’s getting a long so well with her sisters!
"We are still in the intro process because I am going a lot slower than normal since Odie gets excited and I want to be very delicate so no fighting happens. Thankfully, the girls have been doing so well we finally moved up into the main enclosure!
"Their enclosure looks pretty barren right now, this isn’t the final set up. I am adding toys on a day by day basis since Odie gets too excited when she is put into an enclosure with a lot to do and gets aggressive. Although she hasn’t acted like this since before Cowie.
"Cowie has been absolutely thriving! She has been popcorning like crazy so thats how I know she’s very happy! :) She is getting really attached to her other rescued sister Harriet I rescued from Sarah and Abby [ Protectors of Paws & Claws]!
"She’s still a tiny bit shy but she’s mostly comfortable me! I am so happy I get to see her grow and flourish!!"
Thank you for cheering
Thank you so very much again, dear Hitomi, for sharing this lovely video of sweet Dahlia -- I love how carefully and gently you pick her up, I know she is thriving being surrounded by so much love from you and your HAMily! :-)
You can see when Hitomi and Tetsushi adopted adorable Dahlia just last month at https://tinyurl.com/yuzcwv5t. Their sons Ibuki and Kanato and wonderful ham-dads, too!
Thank you again, dear Sharai, for sharing this latest video of darling little Snowberry enjoying getting some petting!
You can see when Sharai, Craig, Marissa, and Jordan, "repeat offenders" ;-) (repeat adopters), adopted adorable Snowberry last October at https://tinyurl.com/2p4up7cr. I'm so happy for them all!
So, yesterday afternoon I posted about and shared the video of when some the the hamster haven hamsters starred in a cameo appearance on The Puppy Bowl in 2014 (Puppy Bowl X) -- you can read about this adventure and see the video at https://tinyurl.com/3yv22hr4.
Then, in 2015, in Puppy Bowl XI, my very beloved Angel made her acting debut as "Harley The Hamster" piloting a biplane over the Puppy Bowl playing field!
