Golden Valley Animal Hospital has been serving Golden Valley and the surrounding suburbs since 1975. Five years later we opened our Greenbrier location in Minnetonka. Our doctors have experience with everything from dogs and cats to birds and reptiles. Our mission is to provide top quality veterinary care in a friendly, compassionate and caring manner.

Happy first day of Winter! ❄️

Winter brings cold weather, and not every breed of pup is built for these freezing temperatures! We recommend keeping walks at a minimum this time of year, and using a pet safe salt outdoors. Another way to keep paws protected from salt is by wearing boots! If your dog doesn't like wearing boots, consider using a paw balm such as Musher's Secret to keep paws protected from salt.

If you are planning to purchase a holiday wreath or plant this season, please be mindful of which kind of plants are unsafe to your pets!

-Lilies are toxic to cats, and if ingested, they can cause kidney damage.

-Holly and Mistletoe can cause GI upset when chewed on.

-Amaryllis are common winter bulb plants, and if dogs eat the bulb, they have the potential of causing intestinal obstructions. Chewing on the flowers and leaves can also cause GI upset and even tremors.

Happy International Volunteer Day to VA Jacie!

Jacie has been been a foster volunteer through Homeward Bound Rescue from January 2022 - August 2024. Her favorite thing about fostering animals is giving them their "firsts" in life's experiences. Examples include giving pets their very first bed, their first trip to the pet store, and even their first pup cup! Jacie loves when these pets find their forever homes, and meeting their new forever family always brings joy to her heart!
