Our mission is to rescue, foster, rehabilitate and adopt abused, neglected, and unwanted Golden Retrievers and Mixed Breed Dogs to permanent homes. 🐾 Pupdate on Ruth—now known as Tinker! 🐾

Tinker (aka Ruth) is settling into her forever home wonderfully—and she’s already a little spoiled (but who could resist that adorable face? 💛). Her new family loves how she lays when she sleeps—it’s just too cute! And her favorite trick? “Walking” herself when she’s on a leash. It’s equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. 🐶✨

We love seeing updates like this and knowing these precious pups are living their best lives! Thank you to everyone who supports GRFR and helps make these happy endings possible. 💕

✨ A Special Arrival: Seniors in Need of Forever Homes ✨

GRFR Community, we have a heartwarming group of Goldens arriving (Colorado) this Wednesday, and they need your help finding their forever homes. These sweet pups are the true definition of putting the "Golden" in Golden Retrievers – they are all seniors, and they deserve the best love-filled homes for their golden years.

These incredible dogs—Buddy (10 ½ yrs), Tesla (8 yrs), Luna (9 yrs), Lucy (8 ½ yrs), Granger (10 ½ yrs), Cindy (7 ½ yrs), and Zoey (9 ½ yrs)—have spent their entire lives in a breeding facility. They’ve never known the comfort of a cozy home or the joy of being part of a family. Let’s change that.

🐾 If you are an approved adopter and would like to provide a loving home to one of these senior Goldens, please email us at [email protected].
🐾 If you are not yet approved, complete our online application today and let us know you’re ready to welcome one of these special pups into your life.

Every dog we rescue deserves a loving home, but these seniors need us more than ever. Please help by sharing this post, tagging friends, or reposting. Together, we can make sure every single one of these beautiful Goldens gets the home they’ve always deserved. 💛

🐾💛 Golden Retrievers: Our Joyful, Fluffy Models 💛🐾

There’s no doubt that Golden Retrievers bring endless joy to our lives—they’re our loyal companions, biggest cheerleaders, and constant sources of laughter. But did you know they’re also amazing models?

For example, when their human sisters are learning to knit and that scarf project doesn’t quite go as planned… our Goldens wear it proudly, tails wagging, and make you feel like it’s a masterpiece. 🎨🧣

Their unconditional love reminds us that it’s the thought (and effort) that counts. ❤️ Whether they’re strutting mismatched scarves, wagging their way through awkward doggy sweaters, or simply being their goofy, lovable selves, they bring sunshine to every moment.

Here’s to the Goldens who fill our lives with love, patience, and a whole lot of humor! 🐕✨

Have a funny Golden story or an adorable modeling moment? Share it with us in the comments below!

✨🐾 Happy New Year's Eve from GRFR! 🐾✨

As we prepare to ring in 2025, we can’t help but reflect on all the tails that wagged, paws that pranced, and hearts that found their forever homes this year. 💛

There’s no better way to close out the year than snuggling up by the fire with your favorite furry friend—just like this sweet pup, dreaming of all the adventures the new year will bring. 🔥🐕

Here’s to more lives saved, more love shared, and even more second chances in 2025. Thank you to our adopters, fosters, volunteers, and supporters who make our mission possible. You are the heart of GRFR, and we couldn’t do it without you! 💫

Wishing you and your Golden besties a warm, peaceful, and joyful New Year’s Eve. See you in 2025! 🥂🐾

🐾 Pupdate on Rip (formerly Chuck)! 🐕💛

Rip is settling beautifully into his new home and stealing hearts left and right! 🥰 Like any puppy, he’s testing boundaries and keeping his family on their toes, but they’re fully prepared and loving every moment of watching him grow. 🌟

Rip is the perfect mix of snuggle bug and land shark—he loves sharing pillows for cuddles but also thinks hands, feet, ears, and glasses are chew toys. 😂 Luckily, his family is quick with substitutions like chewies and toys to keep him entertained. 🧸🦴

Rip is slowly making friends with his big (but little!) feline brother, Butters. 🐕🐱 While they’re still getting to know each other, it won’t be long before they’re the best of friends! 💛

His family is so excited to give Rip the best life possible and can’t wait to watch him grow—both physically and in confidence. They’re already showering him with the love he deserves, and we can’t wait to see Rip’s journey unfold! 🐾

Welcome home, Rip! 🏡💛

🐾 Pupdate on Daisy (formerly Betty)! 🐾

Daisy is thriving in her new home, and her family couldn’t be happier! 💛 She’s already best friends with her 4-year-old Lab brother, Anchor, who’s been the ultimate big brother—showing her the ropes, keeping her calm during car rides, and wrestling with her until they’re both happily passed out. 🐶💤

Daisy is always close by, rarely out of sight, and wears her GRFR tag with her family’s phone number when she’s sporting her collar. 🚶‍♂️🐕

Her family is so grateful to have Daisy in their lives, and it’s clear this sweet girl has found her perfect match. 💕

Welcome home, Daisy! We can’t wait to see all the fun you’ll have with Anchor and your family. 🐾

🐾 Adopting a Puppy Mill Rescue- Bubbles 🐾

Bubbles is settling in and learning what it means to be part of a loving home. 💛 She’s a very sweet girl who’s still adjusting to her new surroundings and figuring out what it means to just be a dog.

Here’s how Bubbles is doing so far:
✨ When meeting new people, she’s very submissive and prefers to let others come to her—but she does just fine with gentle pets.
✨ Household noises like the TV or vacuum don’t bother her one bit.
✨ She’s content when left alone, usually staying curled up in her bed until her human returns.
✨ While she doesn’t interact or play with other dogs yet, she observes them curiously. Toys are still a mystery to her, but she’s beginning to sniff and explore them.
✨ Bubbles is still working on her confidence with the leash. She’s very fearful and will resist wearing one, but her adopter has started introducing a soft harness to help her feel more secure.

Bubbles’ journey is a reminder that so many of GRFR’s rescues come from commercial breeding facilities or puppy mills. These dogs have never lived in homes, had opportunities to explore, or experienced kindness. Adjusting to a new life takes time, patience, and love—and adopters like Bubbles’ are helping her build the confidence she needs to thrive.

We know this sweet girl will get there, step by step, and we can’t wait to see her continue to blossom in her forever home. Thank you to her amazing adopter for giving her the chance she deserves! 💕

💔 Urgent Help Needed for Kuna & Franky 💔

We have a heartbreaking situation and are asking the amazing GRFR community for help. A volunteer recently reached out to us about two dogs who lost their mom unexpectedly.

Kuna, a 9-year-old Golden Retriever, and Franky, a 14-year-old Havanese Poodle, were left alone for over a week with no food or water before being rescued by a kind neighbor. These sweet boys are bonded and have been through so much, and we’re committed to keeping them together.

Here’s what we know:
🐾 Both are sweet, loving, and good with other dogs.
🐾 They are great on walks—Kuna loves fetch, and Franky can keeps up on long walks just fine!
🐾 They are healthy, up to date on vaccines, and good on/off leash.

The neighbor who has been caring for them cannot keep them and is leaving town on Tuesday. We need a foster or foster-to-adopt home ASAP to give them the stability and love they deserve after such a traumatic loss.

Please, if you’re able to foster or open your home to these two precious souls, reach out to us immediately. Let’s show Kuna and Franky the strength of the GRFR family!

📩 Contact us to help or share this post to spread the word. Together, we can give these boys a second chance. Please email [email protected] if you can help these sweet boys.

🐾❤️ A Love Story: Lois’ Fresh Start ❤️🐾

When Lois Lane arrived at GRFR, she was a shy but sweet breeder momma, ready to leave her past behind and start a new chapter. 💛 Her first-time foster dad, although new to commercial breeding rescues, was up for the challenge of helping this timid girl come out of her shell.

It turns out, Lois and her foster dad had a lot to learn from each other. He quickly became the best foster dad ever—reaching out to the GRFR community for advice, setting up playdates, giving her baths, teaching her to play in the backyard, and, most importantly, loving her a little more every single day. 🐕💞

And if you haven’t guessed already... Lois never left his house. 😉 It was the best, most unexpected match he could have hoped for! Foster dad turned forever dad, and now Lois (officially dropped the Lane!) is living her dream life.

This holiday season, Lois is spending her first Christmas with her forever dad and his whole family, including plenty of dogs and kids, whom she adores. She’s even claimed her favorite spot—right in her dad’s lap! 🥰

To Lois and her dad: thank you for showing us the true magic of rescue. Sometimes, the ones we set out to rescue end up rescuing us. 💛

🐾 Doggy First Aid Tip: Nail Care & Emergencies 🐾

Keeping your Golden’s nails trimmed isn’t just about looking good—it’s essential for their health and comfort! 🐕✂️ Long nails can cause pain, affect your pup’s posture, and even lead to broken nails, which can be painful and bleed.

🚨 What to Do If Your Dog Breaks a Nail:
1️⃣ Stay Calm: Your pup may be scared or in pain, so keep them calm and still.
2️⃣ First Aid: Have a doggy first aid kit on hand! It should include:
- Styptic powder or cornstarch (to stop bleeding)
- Clean gauze and bandages
- Dog-safe antiseptic wipes
- Tweezers and scissors
3️⃣ Stop the Bleeding: Apply styptic powder or cornstarch to the nail to stop the bleeding. Gently bandage the area if needed.
4️⃣ Call Your Vet: Even if it looks minor, broken nails can get infected or need professional trimming. Your vet can assess and ensure your Golden is pain-free and healing properly.

📦 Pro Tip: Build a simple doggy first aid kit today so you’re always prepared for life’s little surprises! 🐾

Keeping your Golden’s nails trimmed regularly can help avoid broken nails and keep them happy, healthy, and comfortable on all their adventures. 💛

🐾 Perfect Penny Update! 🐕💛

Penny is settling beautifully into her new life, and her family couldn’t be happier to have her! 🥰 Though she had a rough start and was very sick during her first week, her vet got her on the right medication, and she’s been thriving ever since. 🌟

Penny now enjoys her dream life in the mountains, where she gets daily walks and loves playing in the snow. ❄️☀️ She’s a natural on walks, staying by her adopter’s side —such a good girl! 🐾 She’s made many friends and does great both at home and on visits to grandma’s house.

While Penny is a very lucky pup, her family says they’re the lucky ones. 💕 She’s brought so much love and joy to their lives!

Penny is still a bit nervous around loud noises (and even quiet ones) and is especially afraid of boxes and grocery bags. But with patience and love, she’s slowly getting braver every day. 💪 She’s not super interested in toys or balls, but she has managed to destroy a few stuffies—because what dog can resist, right? 🧸

To keep her safe on all her adventures, Penny wears a name tag with her adopter’s number, an Apple AirTag, and a light on her collar. 🌟

Her adopter says it’s hard to capture photos of Penny because she’s always right by their side. 🥹❤️

We’re so thrilled for Penny and her incredible new family. Thank you for giving her the loving home she deserves! 🏔️💛

✨ Pupdate: Sierra is now Ginny! 🐾

Named after Ginny Weasley from Harry Potter, this sweet girl is finding her magic in her new home. 🧙‍♀️ Ginny absolutely comes to life on the trails, where her love for the outdoors shines. 🌲🐕 She fits in perfectly with her active, nature-loving family!

Ginny is still working on building her confidence around people, as she’s very fearful. Her family is doing an amazing job managing her environment and helping others learn how to interact with her in a way that makes her feel safe. 💛

While dog training has been a challenge—Ginny isn’t food motivated yet—her family is committed to helping her grow at her own pace. With patience, love, and time, we know she’ll continue to thrive.

Ginny is proof that every dog has their own journey, and we’re so thankful for adopters who go above and beyond to give them the love they deserve. ❤️

🐾 Pupdate on Gary (formerly AJ)! 🐕💛

We’re thrilled to share an update on Gary, who is thriving in his forever home! It took him a couple of weeks to settle in, but now he’s living his best life. 🏡✨

Gary has warmed up to neighbors, friends, and every dog he meets. Over Thanksgiving weekend, he visited his adopter’s sister, who has two Goldens—and they’ve officially become best friends. 🐾🐾🐾 Gary absolutely loves playing with other dogs and enjoying the company of his new extended family.

At home, Gary is doing well, though he has a soft spot for flip-flops and paper towels. 😉 His adopter has been patient and understanding, ensuring he feels safe and loved.

Gary is thriving health-wise too! He’s on a Wellness Plan with Banfield, has gained weight, and his coat is looking better every day. With regular walks twice a day, he’s mastering the leash like a pro. 🐕‍🦺 And to keep him extra safe, he’s sporting a personal dog tag with his name and chip info.

Gary’s journey to happiness is a reminder of the incredible transformations that happen when dogs find their perfect match. 💛 Thank you to his adopter for giving Gary the love and care he deserves! Stay tuned for photos—we can’t wait to see more of this handsome boy! 🥰

Our Story

We are Animal Rescuers. We take in helpless, unwanted, homeless creatures without planning for selection. We are a quiet but determined army, and we are making a difference every day. Nothing is more rewarding than saving a life. No higher recognition than watching them thrive. There is no greater joy than seeing a puppy play, who only days ago, was too weak to eat. By the love of those who we have been privileged to rescue, we have been rescued. We know what unconditional love really is. We have seen it shining in the eyes of so many grateful little souls. We are animal rescuers. Our work is never done. Our homes are never quiet but our hearts are always full.
