Yesterday we got to see Sitka’s 2023 calf “Peaches” by Rockin Robin Ragnar. She sure has landed the best possible home! Makes me super happy she is so appreciated.

Predators are always a problem on a farm. Ravens are the absolute worst in general. The calves have to be born inside because of them. But right now it’s the Magpies that just harass sometimes. Sitka has her calf in a tiny space between the bales. And then she lays down in front of him to protect him from them. She’s such a good momma!

Sitka has given us another beautiful calf this year. And what a beautiful udder on a mature cow. She is milking great!

This guy doesn’t have a name yet. Out of Molly 2 (Snowman and Muley’s dam). He’s polled. A lot smaller than Snowman line, follows finer features of Molly’s Grumpy line. And he’s just cute 😍

Knik River Cabin Fever-PP, He is homozygous polled. Not many of these in the Guernsey breed. Really nice bull with some crazy good stats on his genomic panel. Possibly highest livability numbers in the breed at 6.1?? Phenomenal DPR at 4.7. Looking forward to his availability via Guernsey Marketing Service this Fall. Hopefully gender selected also. Inventory will be available locally this month. First calves due in about 8 months

2024 Registered Angus bull calf available as herd bull prospect or as Club Calf. Good natured but will be halter broke in Fall at weaning to ease transition to new home. Dam is big cow and a full sister to “Knik River Prince Titlest”, herd bull for Hungate in years past. DM inquiries.

Just before the downpour 🌧️, I got the new calf inside. Then went to get Momma cow and I got confused 🤦🤪 because there was another one there!? I had to think a second that I really did just move a fresh calf inside….yep! There are TWO! 🥰 Party outdid herself today 🌟

Spring calving season is rolling right along. Congratulations to Molly 2 with her new polled Guernsey calf. Molly 2 is at least 12 years old this year so she is very experienced at this and was a wonderful mom as usual. 😍

Phase 7: stack them gently for storage. They cannot be moved for 30 days until they are done with the fermentation process. Now they are DONE! And we reload for the next round 🤠

Phase 5: Transport to farm where bales will be stored and fed in Winter. This may take some time as the ones that need to be wrapped are HEAVY.

Baled and ready for transport. Not a big yield but it’s done! Well I mean this phase is done and the hay is safe from being lost with the upcoming rain…lol. Next phase coming….
