This is something I have been working diligently towards for the least year; participating in workshops, mentoring, reading, watching, taking lessons, and of course- teaching students. Officially wrapped the 2022 Thoroughbred Makeover finishing 14th of the 60 horse field in the Eventing discipline!
Milo completed his ☝🏻overnight show, his✌🏻cross country course, and learned 💯how to be an event horse. I couldn’t ask for anything better! Spending the week at with my mom, visiting with friends, and watching hundreds of do their thing all added up to a great trip. Now…vacation!

Shadowplay put on a respectable debut of 2nd Level skills this weekend. I was especially proud of myself for toning down my usual show anxiety, and honestly for even being able to complete the day.
Six weeks ago I couldn’t ride for 20 minutes, there’s still much to be desired, but I’ll for this one.

In reality this ribbon does mean some things to me… Of course it means that we performed 2nd best of the entries on the show day and earned a 65% in the judge’s opinion. Which means that we’re heading the right direction with our training, and our relationship allows a certain amount of that training to remain present when performing. 💪🏻 It also reflects the time and focus I’ve been putting in to heal, learn to regulate my nervous system, and update my triggers with @nataliehummelcoaching ❤️ Competing has been a source of stress and anxiety for me, but my horse doesn’t need to know that. I have to be responsible for my mental state so we can show up together and perform, to show off his abilities. It’s in my best interest to be present, focused, and fit both physically and mentally.
