Brooklyn park standardardbreds are on the lookout for a new rider to join the team!

Brooklyn park standardbreds are a small group who aim to help Standardbreds have a pathway after racing.,
We strive to help Standardbreds find their forever homes and set them up for their futures.

what we are looking for:

- a CONFIDENT & CAPABLE rider to assist in breaking & backing ott Standardbreds. also to assist in their training on a weekly basis.

- RELIABILITY is a must! But completely flexible with the hours, the hours will work around the rider.

we are looking for a passionate rider who’s looking to join a growing team, this position can be short term or long term depending on the riders wishes.

we can’t wait to experience this adventure with you!

A beautiful small just on 15 hand standardbred gelding who has a spunky look to him!

I feel rocky is in time to find his forever home, he hasn’t finished his program with us however I think his better suited to a walk/trot plod around home!

Due to this he will be a cheaper option if your looking for a perfect trail riding horse/farm pleasure!

He has a beautiful temperament and has a very quiet nature to him,
He has attended numerous of shows and has experience going out to different locations.

He has no buck, bolt, rear, kick, bite etc. no nasties or dirt!
Feet, teeth, worm, body work up to date.

He is easy to catch, float, wash etc

Would make a perfect trail riding mount
Perfect pleasure horse

Molly has nearly completed her program under saddle and will be seeking her perfect home shortly,

Molly has attended numerous shows and has always walked away with numerous of placings and beautiful comments from the judges.

She is such a lovely type and has a beautiful temperament to match,

She’s a stocky soild mare, previously was a broodmare before becoming apart of our program and has since attended shows, and gone through the breaking program.

Molly has showed no nastiness under saddle and has no vices , she’s a level headed easy going mare.

and last but not least,
We went and picked up these 2 beautiful standys today!

They were in the same situation as Rosie the thoroughbred but this guys, they needed a home before before they met another fate which wasn’t as kind,

These two won’t be going through our program due to one being elder and another only having one eye I think it’s kinder if these guys found a loving family who can offer them a retirement paddock!

These guys will be available once they are up to date with all health needs!

- if you think you can offer these guys a forever home please be in touch!

They will be available for free lifelong lease with a contact in place to make sure they don’t end up anywhere bad!

Would love to see these guys go to a beautiful home 🥰

here’s abit of a different situation for everyone!

Welcome Rosie,
A thoroughbred mare who was in urgent need for a home and some love!

Whilst our main priority is helping standardbreds, we can’t say no to a horse needing urgent attention,

Rosie is in need of a lot of weight and conditioning, and isn’t in the best shape at the moment!

she is such a sweet girl and I can’t wait to see her blossom and at a healthy weight!

A massive thank you to the lovely lady who reached out to us and dropped her off today!

We can’t wait to get her back to herself 🤍

rocky also tagged along with us to the indoor,

First outing ridden under saddle and he was on his best behaviour! remained quiet and calm all day.
he was happy to plod around the arena and take in the experience!

little outing today for two of the good boys!
Mufasa tagged along for a trip to the indoor arena yesterday,

Worked absolutely beautifully, walk/trot both reins perfectly and is really starting to get the hang of his canter!

Absolutely handled the outing like a champion and never put a foot out of line,
He is coming along so well!

quiet day today at @ Rochester show!

Today mufasa and Molly ventured out to Rochester show, very happy with the 2,

Molly cleaned up a first in led female, and pulled reserve champion!
she nearly took out champion but decided not to stand today,

Mufasa also did really nice workouts, and pulled a first place in his ridden class,

Very happy with both of them today 🤍

today we welcomed a beautiful black mare into Brooklyn park,
She is a big girl! And she is a super solid one too,
and my god she’s a looker!

Mufasa NZ 🦁

Mufasa will be available in the next coming weeks but will be taking viewings from now.

Breed: standardbred
Age: 8 years old
Height: 15.2-15.3 unmeasured

Mufasa is a stunning eye catching standardbred gelding who is coming to the end of his program with us.

This gelding is definitely one of a kind and has such a lovely nature about him, he has a level head and takes everything his pointed at in his stride,
His first ride under saddle was in a 40 acre paddock and he took it like he had done it 100 times, since then he has just blossomed.

Mufasa has been around dogs, loud machinery, sheep and other livestock, and isn’t bothered by them,

He will stand all day tied, he has always been hard tied, easy to gear up and to lunge. Dosnt require lunging before being mounted or at a show.

Mufasa has attended numerous of shows always placing and always receiving lovely comments from judges, he has also since attended 2 shows under saddle and will be attending one this weekend.

being under saddle out at shows his taken to it perfectly, he is the same to take out as he is at home
His first ridden show was barastoc HOTY and it was his 5th ride under saddle and he trotted around beautifully and calmly.

Mufasa has never put a foot wrong under saddle and is still yet to, he has had beginners ride him and looked after them perfectly.

Mufasa is happy to plod around, he has a beautiful walk/trot both reins and he has also found his canter on both reins but isn’t 100% perfect as of yet,
Has also cantered in his ridden classes as well,

He is easy to catch, shoe, float, wash, he is easy to do everything with

He has no buck, bolt, rear, kick, bite etc. no nasties or dirt!
Feet, teeth, worm, body work up to date.

He is a wind sucker BUT he is completely fine when he has his collar on,

Mufasa will only be available to a confident capable rider but in saying that he is a very quiet natured horse.

Please no beginners.

rocky attended HRV Hero SPPHAV Standardbred Ring at Barastoc Horse Of The Year Show 2024 with us two yesterday!

first show and definitely a massive one, still needs to get the hang of the whole environment change but none the less he tried his hardest and looked the part!

Along with rocky our bay, still awaiting pics from him!

Molly seemed to improve from last show, still nervous and new to eveything and the environment but being around a massive show environment like today really helped her!

Few little placings for her today, but my god she’s a nice type 🤭

today we attended HRV Hero SPPHAV Standardbred Ring at Barastoc Horse Of The Year Show 2024

all I can say is wow really, mufasa’s 6th ride under saddle, first ridden ride out of home, massive show competing at barastoc for his first time, today he really blew me away and also everyone around him, I can’t believe how level headed this boy is, he wasn’t anywhere near perfect and still had his moments when he gets irrated by the fly’s but the good completely out weighs the bad for this guy!

Kelsey’s first ridden show as well, so it was all new to eveyone today, we gave it a go and can’t be any happier with how eveyone handled it

Ended up finishing with

- 1st foundation rider
- 2nd novice riden (or rider - can’t remember)

Not to mention we were in a rush as we were expecting to have more time and whilst rushing around and quickly just throwing him in the deep end he handled it like a champ!
