Border City Barkers were invited by Andrew Dowie MPP Windsor Essex to perform at his community barbecue at Ciociaro Club on Saturday, Sept. 7. Everyone enjoyed the barbecue and ice cream, and the kids were treated to Jangles the Clown and face painting. The highlight of the event, of course, was hanging out with the Barkers. Here are some highlights from our show.

What an enthusiastic audience at both shows! They showed their appreciation with these great thank you cards! It was our pleasure Campers! 🐾🐾

The Agility Season Heats Up The Barkers delighted the crowds at the La Salle Night Market on May 28. The early Summer heat and sunset lighting had the dogs looking and feeling great and they ran a really good show, especially for so early in the season. Our show was the highlight of a pleasant evening that also featured strolling among food and craft vendors.
It's dress up time! On Sunday, October 29, the Barkers performed a chilly but fun show at the In Honour of the Ones We Love Halloween Spooktacular at the Ciociaro Club. There were lots of costumes around, and not just on the kids, but on some of their parents, and even the Barkers, too! Games, food, pumpkin decorating, a fire truck and first responders and a performance by Leave Those Kids Alone rounded out the day's spooky fun.
March is for Maple Another first for the Barkers this year happened in March, when we performed a show on Saturday, March 18 at the Holiday Beach Conservation Area as part of the Maple Festival. There were activities for children and their families, vendors of local crafts, a maple store, and fire warming pits at this location. The few people who braved the bitter cold and wind that day to come out to the festival were treated to a Barkers show with an uncommon background among the trees and the snowflakes.
A Hot Show at Heron Terrace The Barkers returned to Heron Terrace on July 9, 2023 to perform a show to the delight of the residents, their families and staff at Heron Terrace. The stifling heat had the audience clinging to the heat, while the Barkers ran in the heat. Here are some highlights of the show.
Back at the Tecumseh Corn Festival The Barkers were back at the Corn Fest on August 26th and 27th. Storms and heavy rains at the end of August had parts of Lacasse Park flooded, so our show ring had to be squeezed into a tiny area, that meant that the audience had to squeeze in, too, but we all made it work with good humour. The typical August in Essex County stifling heat and humidity and active yellow jackets didn't keep us down either. The bright sunshine and bright colours of the Festival helped make some nice memories. Here are a few from the pictures I made during the show.
On September 17th, the Windsor Essex Therapeutic Riding Association hosted a special performance of the RCMP Musical Pride as a fundraiser for all the important services they provide throughout the year. The Barkers were glad to support WETRA as always, and we had an exciting time performing our show as a warm-up, and we also got to watch as Off Kilter Equine Entertainment as they wowed the crowds with a trick riding and roping peformance, all as a warm up for The Musical Ride.
Border City Barkers returned to Banwell gardens in Tecumseh for another fun show. The morning of October 1 was wrapped up in fog, and it wasn't clear if we were going to be able to drive anywhere, let alone put on an outdoor show. The sun started breaking through, and it actually ended up being a nice morning for a show. The only issue was the fog drenched grass which was very wet for us to run on, and if you look closely, the smaller, fluffier dogs got very soggy!
Time to take a bow- WOW!!! That's a wrap for the Border City Barkers' 2019 show season. Congratulations to our dedicated team of volunteers for 43, yes, 43 wonderful performances. We visited seniors' and retirement residences, schools, festivals, fairs and charitable events, bringing our special brand of fun to every stop. Special thanks to all our audiences who came out and cheered us on and shared the laughter with us. Next up, we will be in four Christmas parades in Kingsville, Amherstburgh, Windsor and Essex. Hope to see you all lining the parade routes and sharing in the delights of the holiday season!
