I have ONE SPOT available in the Leash Reactive Dog Foundations Class starting on November 9 at Downtown Dogs - Palo Alto, Ca
This class establishes the essential foundation skills for enjoyable walks with our pups while preparing them for the Leash Reactive Dog - About Town class. In this next step, we’ll practice crucial skills in real-world settings, helping our dogs gain confidence and learn to navigate distractions. It’s all about turning challenges into opportunities for growth!
If you know someone who would benefit from this class, please share this link for registration: https://dfordogtraining.com/growly-dog-foundations-class/.
You guys I am SO PROUD of Judy and her dad. Judy is barely 5 months old. She settles calmly around other people and dogs, checks in with her dad when people approach or she sees a dog, walks on a loose leash, leaves food items on cue, and navigates most situations calmly.
At D For Dogz, our classes focus on teaching your dog what you want them to do instead of just saying what not to do.
Imagine a happy pup who understands your expectations and makes great choices—no stress, just smiles!
Ever feel like you’re saying “NO!” more often than you’d like or gently guiding your dog away from mischief? We totally get it! But what if you could turn that around? Check our upcoming classes to prepare your dog for the real world - https://dfordogtraining.com/dog-group-classes/.
Did you know that adult dogs often engage in “self-handicapping” during play?
This is when a dog intentionally lowers its strength or speed to make play more fun and fair for their playmates, especially puppies or smaller dogs. It’s a great way for dogs to bond, learn social skills, and practice self-control. Plus, it keeps the play session lighthearted and safe for everyone!
Have you seen your dog do this? Let me know in the comments!

Puppy and Dog Training Class
TRAINING TIP: Teach your “what to do” instead of telling them “what you don’t want” them to do. In our first Household Manners Group class @furrtropolis.sjc, the pups learned to settle with a chew toy in the presence of other dogs and people - not to mention in super close proximity.
When you have guests at home or you have a work meeting - give your dog a bully stick, a bone or a frozen food toy and have them settle on their bed while you focus on your list 💙.

8-20 week old pup parents!
If I could provide a safe, structured “puppy social” where your SMALL SIZE dog learns to play, listen & relax around other dogs would this be helpful?
Ever wondered how to make public outings a breeze for your pup? 🦮🐕🐩
Watch our new reel to see how our Group Classes can help your dog be calm and confident in any setting. In this class we worked on teaching our pups “how to be calm” and “wait for permission” to greet a friendly stranger we met on the walk.
We have new Group Classes starting the 10th, 11th and 12th of August. Check the details to sign up in the comments.
What is/was the most challenging puppy behavior that you successfully changed or not
D For Dogz Basic Manners Group Training Class for puppies and dogs 17 weeks and older.
My biggest struggle with my own dogs (when I was not a dog trainer) was navigating life in Public Places. As much as I wanted to go everywhere with them - Santana Row, Carmel Beach etc., I found it a bit challenging to transfer our group class learning outdoors.
That’s why our Group Training Classes for puppies and dogs focus on helping my clients (both dog and human) navigate public places with confidence and calmness.
We have new classes starting in the next few weeks. Link to register is in the comments.
Please comment “GROUP CLASS” and share this post to get $50 OFF your class enrollment.

Y'all, please JOIN ME in wishing Buffy a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
The Dog Trainer in me is "amazed at his self control". His mom baked a meat cake (ground turkey + egg + rabbit liver + pork tongue + veggies + wild rice + blueberries).
I wish I had the same level of patience around food like Buffy does.
Guys: Meet Bodie (Golden Retriever) and Stryker (Samoyed).
They are in my Calm & Confident Puppy Board & Train program and are best buddies. I did an overlap session with both their mom’s at Pet Food Express.
We practiced “mind your own dawg business” when in public.
I don’t know who I love more - these pups or their moms?
Our Board & Train programs teach our pups the rules of living in the human world and navigating life’s situations with calmness and confidence - https://dfordogtraining.com/board-and-train/
