►Henry County Animal Care & Control Rescue/Adoption Information:
BEFORE READING FURTHER – PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING REGARDING SPONSORSHIP:
1. Sponsorship money is raised by private individuals – not the shelter.
2. Sponsorship money is NOT given to private adopters, animal shelters or Humane Societies that are not 100% NO KILL. Any humane society that acts as an animal control for their area is also not qualified for sponsorship funds. A private adopter should be capable of and prepared to assume the financial responsibility of all costs connected with adding a new pet to their household.
3. Sponsorship money is only offered to reputable RESCUE organizations as an incentive to take shelter pets into their rescue program. Rescue groups are like “halfway houses.” Sponsorship money helps these licensed, 501 (c)(3) organizations to care for pets until permanent homes can be found. The money is used for veterinary care such as vaccines, heartworm checks (and treatment if necessary) spaying and neutering, boarding, etc.
4. Please contact the shelter regarding each pet's status prior to making any plans.

►RESCUES: If you wish to save animals from HCACC the process is simple. Come in person with your Georgia Department of Agriculture license and pick up your animal for the cost of a microchip ($10.00 covers registration fee.) If you are attempting to rescue from out of state, you must either come yourself or find an in state licensed rescue willing to assist you. Sterilized pets are $125 for dogs and $65 for cats, this fee helps replenish the sterilization fund. If a sterilized pet has not been adopted within 12 weeks of surgery rescues may then pay the $10 microchip charge.
►ADOPTIONS: If you do not have a Georgia Department of Agriculture license you can simply adopt. Adoptions are done in person only with original signatures only. The adoption fee is $125 for sterilized dogs and $65 for sterilized cats.
►OTHER HELPFUL RESCUE INFO: The shelter does not have the ability to vet or transport pets to out of state rescuers. The shelter has no vet on staff, all pets are as is, they do not have the ability to do any medical testing. If you wish to rescue from out of state and you cannot drive over to meet and pick up your pet you are probably best served by finding a local rescue group to assist you. If the pet you are interested in is not yet sterilized you will have a 30 day compliance time, rescuers sign a compliance agreement and must return proof to the shelter or risk a citation.

HCACC is rescue friendly and welcomes the help of reputable rescue groups. Any rescue group, whether in or out of state, that takes pets from Georgia shelters is required by Georgia law, to have a rescue license issued by the Georgia Department of Agriculture's Animal Protection Division. Having tax exempt status is not the same as a license. For more information on obtaining a license, please call (404) 656-4914.
►We monitor sponsorship through pledges only. If you pledge money towards the care of a pet and do not honor it after the pet is pulled, we will block you from commenting on future threads. Rescue groups need pledges to help with the care of pets they take into their programs. It can make a difference in saving a life!
PLEASE NOTE: This is not the official page of the Henry County Georgia Animal Control Shelter. Pledged sponsorship money is not shelter related.
