Tiny Paws Rabbit Rescue Tiny Paws is a volunteer run rescue and sanctuary which provides loving forever homes for rabbits Tiny Paws Rabbit Rescue is a Canadian Registered Charity.

We are a Foster Based Rabbit Rescue located in Windsor On, Canada. Our mission is to rescue domestic rabbits who are stray, abandoned, injured, abused, surrendered or otherwise needing care and attention from human assistance until they can be placed in suitable adoptive homes. Those who are deemed unadoptable due to medical needs are given sanctuary status and live out their lives in the rescue.

Our "Rabbit Wrangler" Volunteers are a dedicated group of individuals that assist to help capture stray and abandoned domestic rabbits. A stray rabbit is always in need of rescuing as they do not have the instincts to survive in the wild. We do not have a physical shelter and we rely on foster homes to help us rescue rabbits in need. We believe education is the key in the adoption process. We want our animals to be loved for their entire life throughout any lifetime changes which may occur. All adopters will fill out a questionnaire and go through an interview process to find the best match for our animals. We are always in need of foster homes, volunteers and sponsors to help us continue our mission to help domestic rabbits in need. Registered Canadian Charity

Miso is excited for Santa Paws!
The little guy will be spending his second Christmas in his foster home. 🥺
But, he's sure glad that he was rescued and doesn't have to sleep outside in the snow. Or forage for food, hide from predators and try to stay warm in the winter. He's warm and cozy while he waits for his perfect home. ❤️

Describe what it's like having a rabbit with one photo. I'll go first.😆🐰

Full disclosure I had planned my retirement from rescue to be within the next 10-12 yrs. That meant that I was no longer going to accept any more rabbits. This year has been a very difficult year and it only seems to get worse.

Finding foster homes is extremely difficult, adoptions are minimal , volunteers come and go, which leaves me with all of the responsibilities. Thankfully I have a very supportive husband to help me. 🩷
But I was reminded that the only way out is by death, when my youngest son asked if I could help a rabbit that was being neglected. My son was really upset. His own rabbit is well cared for and loved, he couldn't understand why anyone would choose to not care for their rabbit.

This poor little bun was already in his second home, passed around in a Mom's group from one neglectful owner to the next. Living in a tiny cage that is not suitable for a guinea pig, let alone a rabbit. Then I learned that the home had several young children, and the owner would forget to feed the rabbit. When the last time he went without food for three days, the owner exclaimed she was surprised he didn't die. She was also afraid of the rabbit and wouldn't let him out of the cage. Living in his own filth, starving, with a water bottle meant for a hamster, it's amazing he did survive.

She had asked my son's girlfriend to take him, or she was going to drop him off at a local nursery/road side zoo.
I had heard enough and told my son to go get him. I realize that many rabbits are neglected but my son reminded me that this was one we could and should help. The little guy deserved a better life, he is only 1.5 yrs old.

I've been asked many times why we don't allow pet store cages for our rabbits and this is just one of the many reasons. It's nothing more than a litter box. My own rabbit's litter boxes are bigger than the living area of this cage!! Rabbits should NOT live in cages. No more so than a dog or a cat!

Please welcome Jack Frost❄️, he's the new guy here. He's a young harlequin male who is very sweet. He had his health check and vaccine. His neuter will be scheduled. For now, he's safe in a large x-pen with one of our foster families. 💗

Miso here! 🐰

So I recently went to this Tiny Paws Rabbit Rescue event. I was hopeful that perhaps my future family would be there, looking to meet me and tell the TPRR humans that they want to take me home forever.

WELL, believe it or not, that didn't happen. I'm still waiting and hoping someone on their little hand computer machine will see pictures and information about me and want to adopt me immediately.

I was super cute at the event - letting visitors and volunteers give me head pets at every opportunity and going through my tunnel to show off. None of the humans understand why I'm still waiting since I'm a perfect little guy.

But alas, maybe you will share this post to help my future adopter see how handsome I am. 🐰🩵 Don't forget to tell them there are more pictures and information about me on the website. Thanks 🥰

We are very thankful for our foster team, without them we would not be able to continue to help rabbits in need. We do not have a physical shelter and rely on the public to help us by fostering our rabbits in their homes.

Our foster families are provided with a foster handbook, one on one support, an x-pen, litter box, bowls for food and water, blankets, pellets and hay. The rescue also covers any veterinary costs that may be needed for the foster rabbit. We do ask that our foster families provide rabbit safe litter, fresh greens and have the ability to drive our foster rabbits to our partner vet hospital for regular exams and to the ER hospital in the event of an emergency. Both Vet Hospitals are located in Windsor, ON.

We have two foster families that have given notice for the New Year. We are in search of two new foster homes for Cassie and Calypso. Both girls are already spayed and ready for adoption. They are litter trained and would be suitable for first time rabbit people.

We have until the end of January to find these lovely girls a new foster, or better yet a forever family. If you are interested please review our Foster Requirements and fill out our foster application available here:

Today Dr. Kate put her ophthalmic skills to the test with Monet and Riesling.

Monet had a Schirmer test to test his tear production, she used fluorescein stain to test his bad eye for corneal abnormalities, and drained his chalazion cysts that were getting quite large. Then he received a nasolacrimal duct flush. His eye was frozen beforehand with a special eye drop to prevent any discomfort.

Dr. Kate is consulting with a colleague for direction with Monet. His previous opthalmologist has retired and we're concerned that his eye medication isn't working as effectively. He's going to try a different eye drop in hopes that will work. Enucleation at this age is quite a bit riskier, therefore we want to try other options before we jump to surgery .

Miss Riesling had a cataract form on her left lens just days after her last vet visit. Dr. Kate checked the eye pressure to make sure it wasn't too high. Sometimes cataracts are a result of glaucoma and require either eye medication or removal. Thankfully her eyes are within the normal range.

Finally our new bun had his intake exam and vaccine. This little guy will get a full introduction soon. He's off to his foster this evening, and will be available for adoption in the New Year.

Please join me in wishing our longest Permanent Rescue a very Happy Birthday. 🎉🥳Hoppy 10th Birthday to Monet! 🤍🩷

Our permanent resident, elderbun Stewie had a visit with Dr. Kate last week.

He has uveitis in his left eye due to E. Cuniculi, and he has chronic infections due to pasturella. Luckily his Fospice Mom Jocelyn keeps a close watch over him for any symptoms. Last week when he started sneezing with discharge, she made an appointment.

He is also a dental bunny and requires regular molar grinds. He received a full check up and his molars are getting long again. He's also had some trouble with a couple of his toes. The nail bed is infected and the nail has fallen out. We are hoping the antibiotics will help with this as well.

He's scheduled for a recheck in a few weeks to determine if the toe needs to be amputated, which we can do during his dental surgery.

The little guy is in great hands and loving life with his foster family ❤️

Once again, if you came to our recent Adoptathon, you had to have met Nugget!

He was one of the first buns you'd see when you walked in and he was quite an attraction for our visitors due to his size, fluffiness, and laid back demeanour!

Many of our volunteers who got to meet Nugget for the first time at the event sort of fell in love with him. 🤩 He is very chill, loves attention, and seems to be the perfect bunny to sit back and watch TV or read a book with! And he absolutely melts for pets! 🩵

If you came to our recent Adoptathon, you may have met Calypso! She was a pretty active girl throughout the event, chewing on her toys and trying to get up on her hidey house!

Calyspo loves pets and snuggling once she gets to know you. She would do well with a submissive boy bun for a friend.

Don't overlook this sweet girl! She has been in the rescue for over a year and is still waiting for a forever home. More details on our website where you can apply to adopt Calyspo! 🎀

I apologize for the lack of posts. I'm really struggling right now, and I am behind on pretty much everything, because my Snow Bunny is unwell.

I figured any Rabbit parent would likely understand, but also I think it's an educational opportunity. Because what is happening with Snow isn't anything that I had thought of.

She had started sneezing in April and had a very slight nasal discharge and eye discharge. One would assume that the likely suspect is an upper respiratory infection. After several antibiotic trials, some would alleviate the symptoms, but it just wouldn't go away completely.

One week ago I brought her to our local ER because she was struggling to breathe. She spent the night on oxygen. Then the next morning we transported her to the Avian and Exotic Hospital in Indianapolis, which is 5 hrs away. The ER hospital provided us with an oxygen tank which we fitted to her carrier. After a few hiccups at the border, (even though we had a letter from the ER vet.) we were on the way.

Snow had an emergency CT scan and she was discharged that night. On Monday I talked to the specialist and learned that Snow has a nasal tumor. It is fully occupying her right nostril and spreads up under her eye. This was devastating news. I had lost both of my dogs to cancer this year and I couldn't lose Snow too.

The specialist Dr. Lennox is a board certified exotic veterinarian and will surgically remove the tumor on Tuesday Dec 17.

Snow is still having trouble breathing. I needed to find a way to have oxygen at home. I can't afford to keep her at the ER until her surgery, I've already spent several thousand dollars of my own money-( she's not part of the rescue). So, I contacted InspirAIR and asked if I could rent an oxygen tank for Snow. Thankfully they are all animal lovers and wanted to help. I honestly can't thank them enough for their kindness. ❤️

I then called our vet clinic Dr. Kate and staff jumped into action. Dr. Kate sent over the prescription and directions.

When I went to pick up the oxygen unit from InspirAIR, they loaned me the unit for free! They were happy to help Snow! 🥰

I'm so thankful to everyone who has helped Snow so far. I will share her journey and details of the surgery, a Rhinostomy. I think it's beneficial for everyone to know that upper respiratory infections may have a cause and a solution!

My Snow Baby is a fighter, she has to stay strong. 🩷🩷

Bentley our megacolon permanent resident was straining to urinate this morning. He appeared to be quite uncomfortable and painful.

Luckily I was able to have him examined and x-rayed to rule out a bladder stone. As you can see his x-ray is quite remarkable. His enlarged "mega" colon is filled with gas. This is not a typical rabbit x-ray. His bladder is quite small and is pushed by the enlarged colon and cecum. He likely feels like it's fuller than it is causing him to strain. The black see-through spots are painful gas . Rabbits are unable to belch, therefore it's difficult for them to expel gas. Their abdomen will fill with gas and feel like a balloon.
He's under supportive care with GI stimulants, and pain meds.

Bentley is one of the many rabbits that will benefit from your Giving Tuesday donations tomorrow.🩷
