Tiny Paws Rabbit Rescue Tiny Paws is a volunteer run rescue and sanctuary which provides loving forever homes for rabbits Tiny Paws Rabbit Rescue is a Canadian Registered Charity.
(22)

We are a Foster Based Rabbit Rescue located in Windsor On, Canada. Our mission is to rescue domestic rabbits who are stray, abandoned, injured, abused, surrendered or otherwise needing care and attention from human assistance until they can be placed in suitable adoptive homes. Those who are deemed unadoptable due to medical needs are given sanctuary status and live out their lives in the rescue.

Our "Rabbit Wrangler" Volunteers are a dedicated group of individuals that assist to help capture stray and abandoned domestic rabbits. A stray rabbit is always in need of rescuing as they do not have the instincts to survive in the wild. We do not have a physical shelter and we rely on foster homes to help us rescue rabbits in need. We believe education is the key in the adoption process. We want our animals to be loved for their entire life throughout any lifetime changes which may occur. All adopters will fill out a questionnaire and go through an interview process to find the best match for our animals. We are always in need of foster homes, volunteers and sponsors to help us continue our mission to help domestic rabbits in need. Registered Canadian Charity

Felix is all grown up and waiting patiently for a forever home. He has grown up in the rescue, his first birthday is next month!
Maybe he can find an adopter and celebrate his birthday in his new home!

Felix is a quieter bun who would benefit from a social and outgoing female bun to help him come out of his shell.

As a rescuer I have dealt with the worst people and seen terrible cruelty. I have found the carcasses of the rabbits that were "set free" by their families. I have hugged rabbits as they pass away, soaking their fur with my tears and expressing my regret that it was too late to save them.

As a rescuer I have been harassed and threatened. I have had people on my doorstep with a stray rabbit begging for help. I have missed countless moments with my own family to save a rabbit. I do it for them, the lost and abandoned. I don't expect anything in return. It is an unpaid calling that few devote their lives to.

The reward is finding the perfect family and home for the rabbits who have been neglected and unloved. You forget the long days and your heavy heart is filled with joy. Morgan was one of the many that came to me neglected and ready to give up. I watched her heal and her beautiful little soul light up. Letting her go wasn't easy, its hard not to fall in love. But, when a previous adopter expressed an interest in bonding her to a TPRR alumnus, I was thrilled.

Recently I reached out to her new Mom to check in. Her response made me cry tears of joy and my heart was once again happy. I asked her if I could share her words and she replied, "I'm very happy to do everything I can to spread information, education, and happy endings!" 🥰

"Things are going very well!! I can't believe how well Morgan is doing - completely relaxed and unfazed by a new family, silly dogs, construction noise next door and behind us, new scents and sounds... incredible! She is SO friendly, loves being pet, and always likes watching all the family activity... not just the kind that involves rabbit food!
You know it's going well when, during the first week, it feels like she's always been part of the family. Gregory adjusted very quickly, too, but Morgan holds the new record! I attribute that to foster care versus shelter care (even rabbit-only); there is just no substitute for being in a loving home. As traumatic as Gregory and Morgan's experiences were, they've been replaced by positive associations to novel and new sounds and experiences. They are curious and trusting... God bless you and your foster families for giving them this gift!"

(*Gregory is our Hayes, who was rescued last November. )

I have no doubt that Morgan and Hayes/Gregory are living their best life. ❤️

Last night when I was doing my evening rounds and tucking everyone into bed, I noticed that Monet was a bit off.

Monet lives a very sedentary lifestyle. He's never been excited for greens, and will often just graze on them. I left them for him to pick at overnight, which he often does. But in the morning they were all still there. He also seemed to be leaning to one side. He was still pooping and urinating, which was good. However, he refused a treat and that's when I called Dr. Kate's office because I was really worried. He will be ten next month and he's being treated for an ocular autoimmune disease.

He had a full exam and blood work.
On examination he presented with poor proprioception of his hind left leg. This may explain why I thought he appeared to be leaning. It doesn't really give us much to go on. His blood work was okay, except for high heterophils. Along with a high normal temperature may indicate he is starting with an infection.

He's back home with antibiotics and an increase in his metacam dose. I've kept a close watch over him, which he totally loves .😆
He finished up his pellets and hasn't gotten any worse. So I don't know what is going on. 😕

Hopefully whatever it is we can fight it and then we can celebrate his tenth birthday! Monet is one of the OG buns and has lived with me since he was four weeks old.
Please keep him in your thoughts and send healing vibes. He's a sweet elderbun. ❤️🥺

Adopt a bonded pair! 🩷💜

Rabbits are social animals and they love having a friend to groom and play with.

Sisters Minnie and Harley are large breed lionheads who were born in the rescue 11 months ago. They would love to find a forever home before their first birthday. 🥰

Check out the adoption requirements and apply online!

All of our rabbits are already vet checked, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and most are microchipped. ✅

‼️ MISSING RABBIT ‼️

Courtesy Post.
Location Kingsville Ontario.

Kodak went missing from her backyard enclosure a few nights ago. Her family is very worried and they are offering a reward for her return.

Please view the poster for details and contact the number below with any information. 👇

This is one of the many reasons that we advocate for domestic rabbits to live indoors. Predators are Kodak's biggest risk. She needs to be found quickly. 💔

Our Holiday Auction starts on Wednesday November 28 and will run until Sunday December 1.
( *Please note the new dates, I realized ending the auction on the same day as our Photo Fundraiser would be too difficult for me to manage. The auction now ends on SUNDAY December 1st.)

The Holiday Auction is a fun way to raise money for the rabbits in our care. All money raised will go towards the rabbits for their medical needs. We have several rabbits due for their annual check ups and vaccines next month. This will be a big help towards those costs.

If you have any new items to donate to our online auction, please email [email protected] to arrange drop off. Items that typically go over well, are gift cards, (easy to mail out), rabbit themed items, items for pets, holiday gifts, vegan chocolate, and toys for rabbits. Please make sure that any items donated are vegan and cruelty free.

Thank you in advance. 🐰🥰

When you apply to adopt a specific rabbit, it doesn't mean that you'll be approved for adoption. Every rabbit in adoption has a different personality. Some may be good with other pets, some may not, and some may need a quiet home.

Milkshake and her three newborn kits were rescued on the day she gave birth in a homeowners garage. She had been discarded by her previous family and left to fend for herself. Pregnant and homeless, she found a safe place to deliver her little family on June 14, 2023.

Thankfully the homeowners were kind and compassionate enough to seek out a rescue and messaged me for help. Luckily I was able to catch Milkshake as she grazed on some grass.

I gathered up the little family and brought them home. They grew up in my dining room until they needed to be separated at 2 months of age. The two boys were adopted long ago, but Mom and daughter Chocolate Shake were still waiting.

The girls had a couple of applications, but they really weren't the right fit. I would rather wait for the perfect family than worry about their happiness.

Yesterday, the girls got their happily ever after! For yesterday was their adoption day! They have the perfect home and are spoiled little buns, just as they should be.

A special thank you to their new foster Mum. She was new to fostering and caring for rabbits, and she did a fantastic job. ❤️

Congratulations to Milkshake and Chocolate Shake! 🎉

Little Miss Blinx has experienced a few bouts of GI Stasis off and on in the last couple of months. Knowing GI Stasis is a symptom of an underlying issue, and given her breed we can assume it's dental related.

She had a full check up at her annual exam last month, but on oral exam her teeth didn't appear to be too bad. We booked her for a dental to be safe. Her sister Winx has had severe bouts of Stasis and dental disease so we didn't want to run into the same problem with Blinx.

She had her dental today with skull X-rays. She actually had several elongated molars and five had started to develop spurs. These types of issues are difficult to see when using an otoscope in a wiggly buns mouth!

Dr. Kate corrected the molars and removed the painful spurs. Blinx recovered quickly and started to munch on her greens soon after the procedure. As you can see she was very excited to eat her hay pain free! 🥰

💜Morgan 💜

I had received a message one Sunday in May, that a rabbit was just left at the side of the road. I asked the witness to stay with the rabbit until I could get there.
Luckily, they managed to catch her and put her in a dog crate. At first I suggested that they bring her to our local shelter because we didn't have any foster space left. But, she said that the rabbit looked sick and her ears were infected. I knew that I needed to check her out myself.

I couldn't believe what I saw. Her ears were so raw and crusted with ear mites. She was emaciated, her spine and hip bones were easily seen. She just looked so sad and in so much pain. There was no way she was going to the shelter.

I brought her home and fostered her. We made a quarantine space for her to recover and I started her on pain meds and revolution for her ear mites. I soon realized that she was a genetic megacolon bun. I would like to think it's why she may have been emaciated, but I doubt it. Anyone who was cruel enough to cause this sweet girl harm, would also very likely not feed her as well.

She was a very shy and scared girl at first. Soon, she began to trust us and I could see her true personality. Calm, gentle and always craving attention. How could anyone hurt her??? 💔

Needless to say, I had fallen in love with this sweet little bun. So, when a previous adopter reached out to inquire about her, I was thrilled!!

On Saturday little Miss Morgan's dreams came true. She met her forever family and they too fell in love with this charming bun. Her ears are now beautiful, but they still have the scars from her past. Her Lionhead mane has almost grown in, we didn't even know she was a Lionhead??!!

Congratulations to Miss Morgan. I'm so, so happy for her. She's going to be bonded to another one of my favourite rescues, Hayes!! The gorgeous blue eyed Dutch/Flemmie mix that my husband and I caught last November. 😍

Thank you to Linda and family for choosing Morgan for a friend for Hayes. I know she's going to have the best life with you. ❤️

Our permanent resident Stewie was at the vet today for his molar trim. This sweet senior boy did really well and is back home recovering with his foster Mum, Jocelyn.

We also had Bam Bam at the vet today. His foster Mum dropped him off to hang out with the DVH staff, while she was at work. Bam Bam was one of the few rabbits that protested my farm hay. Then he stopped eating all hay. Of course we needed to investigate!

Luckily, his molars appear to be fine. Well played Bam Bam, a $240 visit to tell me that you want your premium hay upgrade. You got it buddy.🤪

Bam Bam is one of the black rabbits that we have in adoption. He's very elusive and hard to photograph. Perhaps a photographer would be interested in taking some photos.... 🤔

The total for both boys today was $819.97. If you'd like to help us with that cost, your donation is tax deductible. Any amount is greatly appreciated .😊

Donations can be sent to [email protected]
Or directly on our website through CanadaHelps.

Thank you in advance.💜

Thank you to Maria for the donation of hay, bedding and pellets. Sadly, her 11 1/2 yr old senior bun passed away. She very kindly wanted to donate her supplies to the rescue.

We are always in need of supplies for the many rabbits in our care. We accept unopened bags of rabbit pellets, hay and litter.
Currently our highest need is Timothy hay. I bought some fresh, local farm hay for my rabbits. But, some of our rescue buns have turned their noses up at it and have demanded the expensive store bought Timothy hay. 🙄

For a full list of items and drop off locations please email [email protected]

Alternatively, you can check out our links for online retailers on our website. Any items bought online will be sent directly to the rescue.

Like all rescues, we are struggling. Adoptions are stalled. Intake requests are at an all time high. I am constantly asking for more foster homes. We simply keep doing what we can with the resources we have.

We are foster based, therefore our space is very limited. We have a handful of dedicated and amazing foster homes, who often have several rabbits to care for. When you have multiple rabbits in the same home, there is a risk that bonded pairs will fight. And unfortunately, that is the case with Frosty and Pierogi who have been together since birth in May 2021. The sisters were adopted in the fall of 2021 and returned to the rescue together, in November of 2022. Until a few months ago, they have lived bonded in the same foster home.

Due to a lack of foster homes, their foster opened up her home to care for all of our surprise litters. Sadly, the many, many other rabbits at different stages of development from birth to adulthood have been too much for the sisters. Their bond was broken and they needed to be separated for their safety.

We have had the girls on hold for months now, hoping this would resolve.
But, we do not have any neutral area to try to re-bond them. Believe me, their devoted foster Mom has tried! We made the decision to adopt them out as single rabbits, in the hope that an adopter would bond them to another rabbit.

I will update our website tomorrow, and sadly add their individual profiles.

Needless to say, we are still in desperate need of foster homes. Now ,these girls need to be in separate areas. Their brother Nugget is returning to the rescue today. Chinook and Jaina both need their own foster homes as well. Zero Foster Applications.

I've decided to close to all new intakes. Although we are unable to accept strays or owner surrenders, we will continue to be open for any new adoption returns. The future of Windsor/Essex County rabbits is quite concerning. 😞

If you are interesting in adopting or fostering, please view our website for more information.

Thank you to everyone that supports our efforts, we greatly appreciate all of you.
