Pittsburgh CAT is the adoption arm of Homeless Cat Management Team. This group started as an informal page dedicated to helping friendly stray cats and kittens found by HCMT volunteers doin

g Trap-Neuter-Return. Volunteers spend countless hours helping to save adoptable cats from the streets of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities. We do not have a shelter so we rely on people to open up a space in their homes to foster these cats while they wait for their forever homes. This page was formed to help facilitate adoptions for the cats in foster care. All of our cats and kittens will go to their forever homes spayed/neutered, given age appropriate shots, treated for fleas, ear mites and worms, microchipped and tested for FeLV/FIV. Donations can be made via VENMO: or PAYPAL: [email protected]

We generally do not take owner surrendered animals. We focus on the cats that the shelters will not help.

Meet Eleanor! She's 5 years old and has a big, quirky, fun personality in a petite little body! She likes to play with toys in spurts (even though she hasn’t quite figured out what to do when you throw them!). She likes balls, kickers, shaker mice, and catnip toys. She has also been known to get the zoomies and chase her own tail. It’s pretty adorable! She loves chasing your hand under a blanket and likes to chat with you in little beeps and mews.

Eleanor is a social girl who likes spending time with you. She would love to find a regular lap to sit on, or legs to sit alongside! These lap sessions can sometimes extend for pretty long periods of time. If you like to read or hang out on the couch watching some TV, she could be the cat for you!

Eleanor came to us emaciated and in poor condition. She’s all healed up, has a clean bill of health, and is ready for a home of her own.

Because we think she didn’t spend a lot of time in the past with a loving family, she will need a little time to adjust. Once she's comfortable, she doesn’t seem to mind the hustle and bustle of a home and isn't easily startled. She can get a little unsure when you pet her for lengthy periods, but don’t take this as her not being affectionate! Once she starts to trust you, she likes belly rubs or having a hand placed on her while she rests on your lap. Because of this we’re recommending she go to a teen or adult only home where they can respect her boundaries and give her time to get acclimated.

Eleanor would be a great companion for someone who works from home, as she likes to sit quietly in your lap or beside your desk while you're working. She may like a cat friend with slow, proper introductions and a good match for her more mellow temperament (she doesn’t want a friend that constantly plays or wrestles). She would also do fine as an only cat with a family that likes to spend a good amount of time with her, but we think she'd prefer a dog-free home.

Eleanor is up to date on all of her shots, spayed, FIV/FELV negative, and microchipped. Eleanor is a great cat and if you can give her just a little time to settle in, she’ll return the favor by warming your lap on these cold nights!

Meet Minette, a beautiful, fluffy tailless girl! Though skittish and shy, Minette will become cuddly over time. She only needs time to adjust to her people! When she cuddles up to you, her silky soft fur is perfect for petting! She’s independent and prefers to play on her own if she feels like playing, although she isn’t bothered by her foster siblings and occasionally attempts to (very awkwardly) interact with them.

Minette would prefer a quiet, relaxed environment, without small children or dogs. She can be happy as either a single cat or with feline siblings who don't require a playmate.

Minette will require some special care, as pelvic deformity due to Manx syndrome leaves her unable to clean her backside. Her rear end will occasionally need to be shaved and wiped down to avoid f***l buildup. While she currently needs no medication and has no other problems, she is more prone to hip issues, which might cause problems with elimination in the future. In addition, her long, fine hair tends to form mats, so she will need to be brushed regularly and occasionally have mats cut or shaved out.

Minette is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. If you have the right home for this special girl, apply to adopt her today!

\Are you looking for love?!? Meet Clarita! This beautiful girl is just under a year old and she is hoping to find her forever home soon.

Clarita came to us from a home that had over 20 cats in it, she was surprisingly in great shape and super friendly! She is a bit shy at first, but quite affectionate once she feels confident. She doesn’t particularly enjoy being carried around, but is fine with being picked up and would love to curl up next to you on the couch! Clairita LOVES catnip, Temptations and playing with crinkle balls.

Clarita gets along with other respectful cats, but would probably love to be the only kitty in your life! As for dogs, we aren’t really sure, but she can be startled by loud noises so we think that her ideal home would be dog free. Respectful children over the age of 7 would be fine as long as they know that she will be a bit shy at first and are willing to be patient with her.

She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. Will you be her forever home? Apply for her today!

Meet Ezra! This affectionate 9-year-old kitty is full of personality! Although he may be a little wary when first meeting new people, Ezra quickly warms up and is known for his friendly nature. He loves being close to his humans and will always seek out your company, whether you're relaxing on the couch or getting some work done. Ezra has a playful side and enjoys fun moments, especially when there’s a bit of catnip involved!

Ezra’s backstory isn’t the easiest to hear. He was adopted as a kitten back in 2016. Sadly, he was abandoned outside by his previous owners last fall after he didn’t get along with their new dog. When he was found, he was emaciated from lack of food, but with love and care, Ezra has made a remarkable recovery. He adjusted to his new home quickly, showing his resilience and affectionate nature almost immediately!

Ezra gets along fine with other cats but he would also thrive in a single-cat household. He’s looking for a forever home without dogs, as his past experiences have left him wary of them. While Ezra loves people, he can sometimes get over-stimulated, so he’d do best in a home with older children, around 10 years or older, who can give him space when he asks for it.

If you're looking for a loving, cuddly, and playful companion, Ezra might just be the purrfect fit for you! He’s ready to find a family who will cherish him for the amazing cat he is! He's neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. Now he just needs a true forever home!

Meet Walker, the man of many names - Walkie Talkie, Walk About, Walk a Roni, and the list goes on and on! This handsome gentleman (and his thumbs - squeeeee!) is ready for his forever home! He is approximately 6 years old and such a special guy.

Walker is playful and affectionate! He loves to snuggle up with you and welcomes all of your attention! Walker LOVES Temptations and Catnip! He has excellent litterbox habits. You can scoop him up, but he’d rather not be carried all around. Still, he loves to be pet and brushed. Walker enjoys looking out the window and snoozing in sun rays.

Walker would do best as an only cat; he likes to be the center of your world and can get a bit bossy with other cats. He would do fine with respectful kids over the age of 8, but we think he would prefer a home without dogs.

Walker was a bit stressed when he was in a foster home with multiple cats, so he developed stress cystitis (but ALWAYS used the litterbox). He was put on prescription urinary food and moved to a foster home with no other cats and has not had any issues since then. Walker will come with a 6 month supply of his special food, and his new owner will be able to discuss with their veterinary team the possibility of weaning him off the special food.

He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. If you're looking for a playful, loving boy, and only really want one cat, apply to adopt Walker today!

Irene, Irene, prettiest girl I’ve ever seen! This darling little girl is ready for her forever home! Irene is about 6 months old and is an absolute sweetheart! She is playful and incredibly affectionate once she gets to know you. She came from a rough situation so it may take her a bit to settle in with you, but once she does….be prepared to be loved!

Irene greets her foster with head-butts and rolls over for belly rubs while purring. If her foster is sitting in a chair, Irene hops up to be in her lap or wrap around her shoulder for more love. Note: Her right eye is cloudy with some scarring. It doesn’t bother her, but her vision in that eye is limited.

Irene is currently in foster with multiple other cats and does great with them! She is playful with the young kitties and respectful of the elder kitties. She LOVES Temptations, cat nip toys and crinkle balls! She would probably enjoy having a young playmate friend, but would do ok as a single kitty as long as she would have plenty of attention! Irene has not lived with dogs and would likely prefer a dog free home. Respectful children over the age of 9 would be fine.

Irene will need a patient adopter that understands that she will need a little time to adjust and become her confident and lovable self!

She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. Now all she needs is a forever home, so apply for her today!

Say hello to Thor! This friendly 9-10 month old boy is energetic and playful, but also very loving! He really adores cuddles and will purr as soon as he spots you. He enjoys playing with his brother Loki, as well as with a variety of toys. All in all, he's an adorably well-rounded catten just perfect for your home!

Thor gets along well with other cats. Because he's very energetic, he really needs a playmate in his forever home. He can be adopted into a home with a young playful cat or with another playful young cat. He should be fine with dogs and respectful kids with proper introductions.

Thor is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. Have the right home for him? Apply to adopt him (and maybe his brother?)!

Meet Harriet (6) and Nelly (4), a loving pair seeking a forever home where they can thrive together! They're affectionate & playful girls who enjoy both pets and play! While they take time to warm up, they'll shower you with love and affection once they feel comfortable with you.

Harriet, the affectionate mama, loves to follow her favorite humans around and snuggle up in bed. She's playful, enjoys toys, and has a special fondness for batting her mouse toy around the house. While she is shy, Harriet has a sweet personality and is easy-going with other cats. However, she does require regular medication for stomatitis, so will need an experienced cat owner who can commit to her care. Nelly, her more independent daughter, enjoys sleeping with her humans occasionally and loves being petted and brushed. She's a toy enthusiast, especially fond of her wand toy!

These sweet girls are fine with other cats and would appreciate a quiet home where they can relax and feel comfortable. Although they haven't been around dogs, their shy nature means they'll need extra time to adjust.

If you're willing to provide a peaceful home and the necessary care for Harriet's stomatitis, this adorable duo will reward you with a lifetime of love, snuggles, and playful moments. Experience with cats is preferred, but the reward will be well worth the extra care! They are spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of their vaccinations. Now all they need is a forever home!

Little Walnut is about 10 months old. She's calm, polite, and a little bit shy. Walnut is curious and loves to be right next to you. She will let you pick her up (although it's not her favorite). She loves playing with her sisters and chasing springs around.

Walnut likes other cats and really needs to either be adopted with her sister Cheetah Pita, or into a home with a friendly, playful cat. Walnut has never met a dog or kids, but would probably do fine with proper introductions.

She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. Now all she needs is a forever home!

Cheetah Pita is about 10 months old and ready to find her forever home! Once she trusts you, she is a total lover girl! She will purr forever as you pet her! Cheetah likes playing with other cats and is a big fan of toys. She also LOVES playing with laser lights and bubbles! Although she's been growing more and more brave in her foster home, she is a bit shy and will need a patient adopter and a quiet home. She really needs a home with another outgoing kitty to show her the ropes (her sister Walnut is also available for adoption). She has never met a dog or kids, but she might do okay with a calm quiet dog and respectful older kids.

She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. If you're looking for a sweet, loving girl and can be a little patient, apply to adopt Cheetah Pita!

Hi, we’re the Pittsburgh C.A.T. twins, Huck (solid silver) and Finn (silver with white on chin), and we would LOVE a new home for the new year, as we spent all of 2024 waiting! We are social, affectionate boys who adore our humans so we're not sure why it's taking so long!

We are 6 years old and were left behind by our previous owner when they moved! Can you believe that?! We have been through a lot and need to stay together. We really rely on each other for confidence and support!

We are typical nebby cats who can’t help but follow our foster people all around the house. We have to be in the know! We love playing with catnip mice and pounce on them all throughout the house. We love sitting together in sunny spots watching the clouds and birds pass by. If you have big windows and bright spaces, we’ll be so happy!

We both adore being petted, and we love to roll over on our backs for tummy rubs. Being brushed is also the best! How else do you think we keep our fur so soft and shiny?! Speaking of shiny soft fur, Finn is on a special Z/D prescription food diet. He has some allergies that make his skin super itchy. This food and a small pill once a day help keep his skin and fur in tip top shape! We will have a prescription for both.

We are neutered, up to date on our vaccinations, microchipped and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Help Huck & Finn find their perfect home by sharing this post -- or applying to adopt!

Meet Heathcliff, the king of the castle! This handsome, gentle giant is full of love and sweetness. Heathcliff is the ultimate work-from-home companion, content to sit next to his foster mom all day while she works. He’s the Employee of the Month in her home office! When it’s playtime, he’s all about chasing laser lights and staying active. Heathcliff loves other cats and gets along great with the large dog in the house, making him a perfect fit for a multi-pet home!

Due to his time on the street, he ended up with FIV (that’s feline immunodeficiency virus). As a result, he has a weakened immune system. All that means for you is that he needs some extra love and care, such as keeping up with yearly vet exams and watching to make sure he doesn't pick up any infections. He's currently healthy and happy, and will continue to be in a loving, stress-free home. Most FIV+ cats do not show symptoms, and studies have shown FIV+ cats have a normal life expectancy. FIV is not contagious to humans and will not spread to other cats through normal contact, so FIV+ cats can live amicably with other cats once neutered. Please contact us if you have any questions about FIV!

Heathcliff is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, and playful kitty, Heathcliff is your guy!

Sylvia & Selene Seek Serene Sanctuary!
Meet Sylvia & Selene, a stunning 10-month-old dilute torti pair! These gentle souls are looking for a calm and peaceful forever home where they can thrive.

Sylvia and her sister Selene are a bonded pair who take a little time to warm up. Once you've earned their trust, though, they transform into affectionate and loving companions. They adore cuddles, pets, and brushing sessions!

A serene and quiet environment without young kids would be purr-fect for Sylvia and Selene. A home with minimal noise and stress will help the sisters feel secure and loved! They are fine with other cats but would prefer a home without dogs.

They are spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of their vaccinations. If you're ready to provide a peaceful haven for Sylvia and Selene, apply to adopt this sweet pair today!

Does your cat seem lonely or kind of bored? Do you wish you had more time to spend with them? Does your feline best friend need a best friend of their own? We have the perfect cat for you. Meet Oliver- Oliver is six years old and LOVES other cats! You’ve heard of girls girls; well, Oliver is a cat's cat! Oliver is looking for a home to crash in with a laid-back feline friend where he can spend his days chilling!

Oliver is a very independent guy who likes to be around people, but not close enough for consistent affection. He’ll sit nearby and watch tv with you, but don’t expect him to jump on your lap. Oliver would much rather prefer the attention and admiration of other cats.

Oliver is a stickler to routines. Breakfast, nap, sack, nap, play, nap, watch birds, dinner, nap, tv, sleep. While a change in his routine can knock him off course, he is a resilient guy and will be back on schedule in no time. He will just need a patient family to let him down his own thing!

Speaking of breakfast, snacks, and dinner, Oliver loves treats and devours wet food! Treats and cat appropriate food is a great way to bond with Oliver. You can usually get a few head scratches out of him while he distractedly enjoys. Oliver is fine with dogs but would prefer a home without children.

He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. Now all he needs is a forever home!
