Pittsburgh CAT is the adoption arm of Homeless Cat Management Team. This group started as an informal page dedicated to helping friendly stray cats and kittens found by HCMT volunteers doing T

rap-Neuter-Return. Volunteers spend countless hours helping to save adoptable cats from the streets of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities. We do not have a shelter so we rely on people to open up a space in their homes to foster these cats while they wait for their forever homes. This page was formed to help facilitate adoptions for the cats in foster care. All of our cats and kittens will go to their forever homes spayed/neutered, given age appropriate shots, treated for fleas, ear mites and worms, microchipped and tested for FeLV/FIV. Donations can be made via VENMO: or PAYPAL: [email protected]

We generally do not take owner surrendered animals. We focus on the cats that the shelters will not help.

Meet Kafka, Pittsburgh CAT's silver fox. This distinguished gentleman has lived a life of love and comfort, and he's now looking for a new chapter with a family to live out his golden years with!

Kafka is a laid-back gentleman who enjoys watching the world go by from sunny and cozy spots and purring contentedly as he soaks up attention and pets. Kafka doesn't mind other docile cats and with a slow and respectful introduction could join a multi cat home. Kafka is a big guy! He doesn't mind being held and will happily jump up next to you and sit on your lap. Because he's a mellow guy, he would probably get along OK with older, more mellow children and a laid-back dog.

Kafka spent his early years by the side of a kind woman who adored him. As she entered assisted living, Kafka found himself searching for a new forever home. Despite this change, his spirit remains strong, and his affectionate nature intact.

He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. If you're ready to provide a comfortable and loving home to this silver fox, apply to meet Kafka today!

This is Bean, a 7 month old, adorable, friendly little kitty with a beautiful, shiny, black coat. She was found outside, but she’s definitely ready for a permanent, loving, inside home, and a family of her own!

Bean is a sweet, friendly girl who loves being petted and spending time with you. Get your lap ready, as she likes to invite herself to come sit on you! She purrs pretty constantly (even when she’s sleeping and sometimes just when you look at her).Did you know cat purrs are thought to be relaxing and healing for people? Just another service she provides!

She likes toys of all kinds, but particularly loves springs, balls, and shaker mice. She’s happy to play with you or entertain herself in short bursts. Even though she’s young, she’s not too wild, and she seems to like cuddles as much as play time.

She could be happy with a feline friend with proper intros, but she’d also do OK on her own as long as she’s with someone that likes to spend a good amount of time with her and interact with her regularly. She still gets a little startled or concerned at loud noises, but she seems to recover quickly. Because of this we’re recommending a home with teens or adults. Bean is up to date on shots, microchipped, and tested negative for FIV and FELV.

Overall, if you’re looking to add a little black bean to your casa, we might have just the “purr-ito” for you. Bean’s foster family says they haven’t met all the cats in the world, but are pretty sure she’s in the running for the sweetest!

Meet Magpie (18 mos)— the hilarious little troublemaker who will turn your home into a sitcom (and your camera roll into gold).

Magpie is known for her comedy routines, including hopping around with her back arched like a tiny kangaroo, launching surprise attacks from under furniture, and stealing anything she can carry. Socks, pens, shiny objects, and especially high-value snacks often end up hidden in her secret stash spots. Her favorite toy is a feather bundle attached to an elastic string on the living room ceiling—she’ll grab the feathers and run full-speed until the string can’t stretch any farther, then snap back across the room like a furry slingshot. It’s impossible not to laugh.

But Magpie isn’t all mischief. She has a very affectionate side and loves pets, seeks out attention, and curls up under the blankets at bedtime for snuggles. She enjoys being carried (until something more interesting catches her eye) and will happily follow you into the bathroom to watch the shower—water droplets are endlessly fascinating to her. With new people, she warms up eventually, and with older children she takes a little time but hangs out with them once she trusts them too.

Magpie has been in foster care for a little over a year and currently lives with lots of other cats—all of whom she somehow manages to boss around without causing fights. She’s confident, clever, and full of personality, but underneath all the theatrics is a genuinely loving cat who wants a home of her own. Magpie has not been tested with dogs and would prefer a cat-savvy dog or a home without them. She does well with other cats, especially those who respect that she’s in charge.

This brave girl also survived FIP as a kitten and is now fully healthy. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, and tested for FIV/FeLV.

Magpie will thrive in a home that enjoys a mix of cuddles and comedy, appreciates a one-of-a-kind personality, and wouldn’t mind becoming the lucky human behind her inevitable viral Instagram account. If you’re ready for a funny, affectionate, unforgettable cat who will keep you smiling every single day, Magpie is ready to meet you.

Poppy is a 7-month-old fuzzy gray beauty with a brave streak. Found with her mom and three brothers, she was the very first to be caught and quickly showed she was the boldest of the group! Poppy is curious, loves wand toys and tunnels, and will happily purr while being brushed. While she may need some time to adjust to new situations, she’s quick to come out of her shell in a quieter home with fewer animals and people who can give her the attention she craves.

Poppy is spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. In foster care, she has been around dogs and other cats. She didn’t run from them, but she also didn’t engage. Still, with a patient adopter, she seems like she could happily coexist with a good-natured dog or cat. With love and time, she’ll blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion!

Giving Tuesday is less than a week away! And this year is extra special, because our parents organization is celebrating 25 years of spaying, neutering, rescuing, and protecting Pittsburgh’s community cats. For a quarter of a century, we’ve been helping caretakers, reducing overpopulation, and giving thousands of cats safer, healthier lives.

As we look to Giving Tuesday & to the next 25 years, we hope you'll consider a simple but powerful gift: $25 in honor of our 25th anniversary!

Say hello to Jonah & Sanibel! This adorable brother–sister duo is ready to steal your heart! Jonah is a big, lovable, goofy boy, and Sanibel is his dainty, pretty, and equally charming sister. At just 4 months old, they’re the perfect blend of playful energy and sweet affection.

Jonah and Sanibel love chasing the laser, climbing to new heights, wrestling with each other, and exploring their surroundings. While they may be a bit shy at first, they warm up quickly—and once they do, they’ll happily stop by for pets, snuggles, and attention whenever they’re not busy playing.

Because they are deeply bonded, they must be adopted together. They’re wonderful with other cats and have done well around a cat-friendly dog and respectful children, making them a great fit for many types of homes!

They are neutered/spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and fully up-to-date on vaccinations.

All they’re missing now is a loving forever family—could it be yours?

Don't let his case of Grumpy Face fool you! Murray is a sweet, loving, gentle boy around 4–5 years old, and he'd love a home for the holidays! If there were an Olympic gold for seeking love, he’d bring home the gold every time! He loves, loves, loves being petted and is happiest when you take a moment to lean down and give him some love—whether you’re working at your desk, watching TV, or reading a book. He will also run for you if you lean down and hold out your hand. Murray just loves being petted more than anything else! His fur is unbelievably soft, too, making every pet a treat for both of you.

Murray’s story began outside, where he lived with his siblings for his first few years. While he had some contact with people, he only moved indoors last year. Because of this, he’s still a bit timid—sudden movements send him back to his “safe place,” and he prefers to approach you on his own terms. But when he decides it’s petting time, he’s all in! He plays with toys occasionally, but he’s really more of a relaxed “let’s hang out” kind of cat.

When Murray was found, he had a bad wound in his shoulder. It has now healed and requires no further care, but it's left him with a rather charming little head tilt! His foster mom also says he's the nicest boy, but really tough to photograph, as he squints, runs to get pets, or scampers off to his safe place whenever she pulls out her phone to take his photo!

Murray just loves loves loves other nice cats! He’s often found snuggled up with one of his feline roommates. For that reason, Murray should go to a home with another cat, where he would be an amazing companion to a feline looking for a friend.

Murray would thrive best in a calm, adult-only home. Because of his shy nature, he’s not a match for households with dogs or young children.

He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. If you’re looking for a tenderhearted, cat-loving companion with a soft coat and an even softer heart, Murray might just be your guy!

**Reminder: Murray's adoption fee is discounted through the month of October!**

Holmes & Silas: Best Buddies Searching for Their Forever Home! These two handsome, fun-loving FELV+ besties have been patiently waiting for their perfect match—and after over a year of searching, they’re hoping that luck is finally on their side!

Holmes is the ultimate sweetheart ❤️ He's a social, affectionate guy who adores rubbing against legs, soaking up ear scratches, and being the center of attention. He’s a pro at using scratching pads, can’t resist Temptations treats, and absolutely loves wet food! He spends his days gazing out the window, fascinated by the world outside (but please, no ceiling fans—they’re terrifying!).

Silas is a 5-year-old playful adventurer who can’t get enough of jingle balls and ribbon wands! He may not be a lap cat, but he enjoys quick, on-the-go snuggles between play sessions. Initially shy, food and treats are the key to his heart, and as he gets comfortable, his confidence grows. Silas would thrive in a quiet, adults-only home without dogs.

Together, Holmes and Silas make the perfect duo—Holmes brings the cuddles and confidence, while Silas adds the playful energy and curiosity. Where one leads, the other follows, creating the ideal mix of affection and fun!

Both Holmes and Silas are FELV+, meaning they need to be either only cats or live with other FELV+ kitties. Right now, they’re healthy, happy, and full of life, ready to bring endless joy to their forever family!

They are neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of their vaccinations. If you’re looking for a bonded pair of playful, affectionate, and resilient best friends, Holmes and Silas are your guys! Apply today and give these two the loving home they deserve!

(FeLV, otherwise known as feline leukemia, is a virus that impairs the cat's immune system and can shorten their lives. During the early stages of infection, cats often exhibit no symptoms and no signs of disease at all. Over time, however, the cat's health may deteriorate. We do not recommend that FeLV+ kitties live with FeLV- kitties. Cats infected with FeLV can live for years in good health, but their health should be vigorously monitored. Holmes & Silas will best thrive in a loving, quiet home where they're fed a high-quality diet, and checked regularly by a veterinarian supportive of maintaining and treating an FeLV+ cat. Controlling secondary infections and treating other illnesses as they arise is key, so they will require a committed and loving adopter. In return, they will give much love and joy!)

Meet Gremlin, the Cuddlebug-in-Training! This adorable 7-month-old is a master of snuggles and biscuits-making. Gremlin loves to lay in laps, purr, and make himself at home in your lap and in your heart! He’s a social fellow and follows “his” people around to see what they’re up to. He has a playful side, too, and loves chasing teaser wand toys.

Gremlin's got a sweet spot for calm company: cats, small dogs, and patient people. He'd love a feline friend to cuddle with, but solo with enough love and attention is okay too. He has not met kids, but calm older ones could be nice!

Gremlin's looking for a quiet vibe in a small household with plenty of time for snuggles. He's all about lap-sitting, bed-cuddling, and hiding in cozy boxes!

While Gremlin loves people, this little guy will take time to warm up (remember the rule of three? Three days to calm down, three weeks to relax and three months for full personality), so a patient family is a must! Gremlin is worth the wait! Once he's comfy, get ready for a lifetime of cuddles and biscuits!

He is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. Now all he needs is a forever home! Apply for him today!

Meet Miss Lilly – A Refined Lady with a Dash of Sass 👑🐾 Miss Lilly is a stunning 8-9 year old dilute tabico with a soft grey coat and a heart full of love—for humans, that is! This elegant girl adores being brushed, lounging nearby, and following her favorite people like the loyal shadow she is.

Miss Lilly is used to a comfortable home and a doting owner. Unfortunately, her previous owner had to go to assisted living, so Miss Lilly is looking for a new comfy home and a new doting owner!

Miss Lilly isn’t a fan of being picked up, but she’s a wonderful, low-maintenance companion for someone who respects her boundaries and understands her regal ways. While she’s an absolute doll with people, and showers her humans with quiet affection, she prefers to be the queen of her castle—which means no other cats, please. She's a bit too fabulous to share her spotlight! Because of her distaste for feline company, she’d also likely prefer a dog-free home. She would do well in a home with older, respectful children who let her come to them on her terms.

She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, tested for FIV/FeLV, and up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. If you’re looking for a sweet, sophisticated companion with a touch of sass and a love for human connection, Miss Lilly is ready to be your one and only. 💕]
