Gorillas 🦍 spend their first years with their mom so this guy was stolen without knowing where his “pack” isto return to. We all know the mom was either killed or mourning the loss of her son 😩😥

A young gorilla rescued from a plane’s cargo hold is recovering at an Istanbul zoo while wildlife officers consider returning him to his natural habitat.

The five-month-old gorilla was discovered in a box on a Turkish Airlines flight from Nigeria to Thailand last month.

As Istanbul emerges as a major air hub between continents, customs officials have increasingly intercepted illegally traded animals.

“What we want, and desire is for the baby gorilla … to continue its life in its homeland,” Fahrettin Ulu, regional director of Istanbul Nature Conservation and National Parks, said.

“What is important is that an absolutely safe environment is established in the place it goes to, which is extremely important for us.”

Well Fritz came home with a negative report from the Vet. today. He is in stage 2 kidney failure. He could live another year at this stage but we do consider him a hospice dog now for sure. He is still in need of a home where he can get more attention than he gets here. He gets canned food twice a day and uses the pet door. If his final chapter is spent here we will make the best of it. Poor guy,🥹
