Today I received some terrible news from dear pet sitting clients of mine: their darling little dog, Louie, was hit by a car and killed last night. 😭 They are totally devastated, as am I. It's such a shock. He was only 5 years old and such a sweet, lively little guy. Just last year he had become "big brother" to a human sister and was by her side looking after her from day one. It was so precious!

I was going to be taking care of him again in a few weeks, too. 💔 I love what I do or I wouldn't do something that makes so little money, but this is the worst part of my work. The loss of a client's beloved fur baby hits me really hard because I love them, too. I know how it feels. Love and hold your beloved fur kids tight! Watch out for them, please. 🐾🐾

As for cranberries, a small amount of fresh is technically considered safe (though personally I wouldn't risk tummy upset), but stay away from prepared cranberries/sauce, as the sugar and alcohol they may be cooked with aren't healthy for your pup. And MAKE SURE dogs don't get any apple seeds, which are toxic! Better yet, stick to dog food formulated for them and don't teach your dog it's okay to beg for people food. Or put aside a bit for them and give it to them with their food, not at the table. 😁❤️🐾🐾

Folks, this important message is from a member of a dog group I'm in and I wanted to spread the word so others don't go through the scare his family did:

"Ok…. A feeling of depression and failure. Our dog took an Albuterol inhaler off the nightstand. Not sure if you all know this or not, but the residue apparently smells like meat to a dog. Needless to say, Tucker chewed it open. It popped in his mouth.

PSA: this is HIGHLY toxic to dogs at this level. Their potassium levels crash and they are in danger of cardiac arrest. My brilliant wife rushed him to the vet. It likely saved his life.

At the Emergency Vet ( trust me , you don’t want to know the cost), they informed me this happens about 3 times a month. If you have Asthma, please be diligent with your inhaler. If they do get it, don’t f #%^ around. Get to the vet or the pet ER.

Feel free to share with other pet owners… the bigger dangers are the ones we don’t always see."
