On a recent visit to the famous Mount Kinabalu of Sabah, I was excited to encounter this beautiful and much sought-after snake: Malcolm’s Pitviper (Trimeresurus malcolmi). A Bornean endemic, this viper is restricted to the cool mossy forests on just a few of the island’s highest mountains. This year I have been engaged in capturing new images of many of Borneo’s most unique species of reptiles and amphibians in preparation for a project for the upcoming World Congress of Herpetology which will be held here for the first time ever next month.

Philothamnus hoplogaster - Green Water Snake (Melanistic)

It was really special to come across this melanistic green snake in the Rainforests of central Mozambique! Although they aren’t unheard of they definitely aren’t common. They seem to be more frequent in evergreen forests and of course the question arises why this is the case? Most likely they are just able to survive a bit better within the forest than outside and melanistic individuals born in more open habitats get picked out by predators fairly quickly. Another theory would be that their darker coloration aids them heat up faster. Let me know what you think!

Feeding the saltwater fish and then did a deep clean and shortly water change. Saltwater isn't quite mixed / right temp yet but wavemakers are still on so it's alright to wait a little bit

This cat... he's too funny 😁 this is my Savannah cat who had to personally inspect Zoidbergs new enclosure and he was very excited. Even came to sit in my lap to tell me about it. And yes off to the left is a gigantic cat wheel that he runs on like a deranged hamster.

These are so vicious, they will bite the hand off of any FWC agent who comes close enough Don't take it personally FWC, they treat all government agents equally 🤣 its not personal 😉

I have an army of hyroids (essentially jellyfish) growing. I can't wait to see the Medusa form which does look like a tiny jellyfish that floats around rather than growing on the glass like that. This is the larval stage so to speak. They can sting like jellyfish do and apparently it can cause red bumps and tingling sensation around the sting site, and presumably anaphylaxis in those allergic to their venom. There's thousands. Literally. I like them but they gotta go. But the good news is that they tend to bloom in new set ups and then disappear entirely as the tank is established.

I just caught this little one and we're already best friends. Chilling for a few minutes and then I will return him to the wall he came from 🤣

When I got far enough in the Cicada 3301 worldwide puzzle, to receive their operating system, cracked it and got in, this was the result (recorded myself via phone) Just part of what made me a living legend 🙌
