Well, it turns out that Beanie the Basenji isn’t the only wild dog in the family! Hannah’s DNA results came, and while we definitely thought there was some husky or something in her, the other breeds surprised me. Now it makes sense that I’ve been calling her my “little wolf.” I had to look up Calupoh (a Mexican dog/wolf mix!) and of course Polynesian Street Dog would be naturally wild! 🐺🐾🏝️🗾🥰 So fun to see the results.

Posting this pic early, so nobody thinks it’s a “half in the bag” post! 🤣 Beans and Hannah were playing tug-of-war with both of these little lamb toys just a while ago, and when I finally got the dogs settled in their beds, these little things look like they were slaughtered where they lay, lol! Or at least they did to me… I guess you had to be there, maybe. 😋

I don’t think Hannah has ever met cats - and she’s actually being very friendly, but a bit too enthusiastic for them! She will be absolutely fine I know, just will require a bit of teaching her to be a bit more chill around them - she’s a HUGE cat fan! 🤣

We were very lucky that for almost 3 weeks our baby girl was actually staying in the home of the founder of the rescue where she came from down in Tennessee, whereas our poor Bruno had gone straight from an animal shelter into a vet for boarding, and never had this wonderful experience.
And now we continue her training, and we know she’s going to be the best dog! (Keeping in mind that any dog compared to a Basenji is a really good dog ha ha ha!)

Our baby girl has been put on the transport truck coming up from Tennessee, I’ll be picking her up very early tomorrow morning in Rhode Island. Cannot wait to meet her, and cannot thank Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue for another sibling for little Beans, who really needs another dog family member in her life, since Bruno passed away over the summer .

For today, a much happier post - this was a few minutes ago. 🙂

Hi all - I will text all of the clients in the morning at a reasonable hour. I want to let everybody know that around 12:30 last night, our Bruno passed away in his bed in our bedroom. Bruno had been on antibiotics for what we thought was an inner ear infection , for about five days , and had been doing really well. He was fine all day today and had not been showing any odd behavior- put himself to bed after the last pee break around midnight, as he always did. About 20 minutes later, I went back up into the bedroom to put some laundry away, and he had passed. I have NO idea what happened, I don’t know if it was the antibiotics combined with pain meds, which I had heard could cause side effects with kidneys - or as the vet had suggested a few weeks ago - he might’ve had some sort of tumor growing causing pain in his ear and throat… We really don’t know right now. I am obviously beyond devastated and I’m going to take the rest of the week off from playgroup. I will be in touch with everyone personally as far as picking up weekend dogs and in advance, we appreciate everyone’s love and support, because we know it is coming.
