Today, we picked up our 2nd stash of the year, for the Tomlinson’s pound 4 pound Food Program! Over 1500 lbs of food donated! Tomlinson’s Feed Store Rocks!

Every year running from Thanksgiving to Christmas Eve , they have a food drive where they match pound for pound anything that is donated! The match comes from awesome food vendors that partner with Tomlinson’s. It is distributed to several local rescues three times a year. This batch was all from Stella and Chewy!

Look for our posts this coming Fall for the Food drive for 2025. The more people donate, the more that is matched for our rescue! Thank you Tomlinson’s - We appreciate you!
Thank you Justyn, Jackie Fran and the awesome warehouse staff for your help!

Freedom day for Gracie Mae from Brushy Creek Park. In major need of a dental, several teeth extracted and she is good to go. Yes, even feral, we give them the care they need. ❤️

This post is way overdue. This orange boy came from the San Marcos shelter . Found almost dead, with several wounds from some kind of attack, he quickly captured the hearts of all at the shelter. He also tested positive for Leukemia. He was up at the shelter for two months and my friend/rescuer, Stephanie Pecuch contacted me about him.

He quickly took to Casper who has been thru multiple vets/testing and struggled with severe allergies of some kind. We’ve had him for about 3 years and have given him every possible medicine/treatment. He was finally doing fairly good but his last checkup, bloodwork indicated the leukemia is going into the bone marrow.

He will not be with us much longer, but my am so happy that this new guy took him in as his buddy and nurtures him with grooming and more. Whether he lives a couple of more days, or several weeks, we take comfort that Casper, a very skitty cat who was isolated for so long as we weren’t sure of his diagnosis, is finally knowing love and enjoying friends and a Catio. And has a special friend in this guy….Meet Finley….the sweetest boy ever.

Anyone in Waco area that can trap 4/5 cats at a time (drop trap) and take into austin. Elderly lady dying in hospice. The daughter is a vet and trying to do the best she can. People dumped animals on her all the time. She had a total of 25 (dogs/cats) and several have been relocated for fostering . To be clear, just trap them then either drive to austin or meet her somewhere .

Good people are those who love animals. Animals are special creatures, and anyone who has been lucky enough to have a relationship with them knows well. Animal nobility is a true teaching. Thanks to them, we are more modest, more empathetic, more affectionate people. They give us their love unconditionally, asking nothing in return, they do us good. - Keanu Reeves ❤

Relocating ferals should be a last resort and only done if their present home has become too dangerous for them to remain in.

Following are procedures to best keep ferals in their new home. Personally, I wouldn’t keep them in a kennel for the first two weeks, as long as there is no way out of the building that they will be staying in and I wouldn’t remove the food and water. I would keep these items in the building. More than likely you will want the doors closed, please provide an escape hole just big enough for the cats and not their predators once their holding is complete.

🐾 🐾 🐾

Relocating feral and outdoor cats is not as easy as physically placing them in their new outdoor home. Cats are very territorial, and if you simply place them in a new location, they will try to find their way back to where they came from, often times killing themselves in the process.
Fortunately, feral and outdoor cats can be acclimated to a new territory fairly easy and in a short amount of time.

1. Place the cat in a large cage or kennel within the building they will be calling home. Give the cat a small towel lined carrier with the door held open with a small bungee cord, food and water, and a litter box. Clay litter is better than clumping in this environment, as clumping litter can get wet or in the water bowl, making a sticky mess that is more difficult to clean up.

2. Clean the litter box and give fresh food and water daily. This can easily be done by closing the cat inside the carrier (the one you have bungeed open) to keep the cat safe while you are tending to its needs.

3. After 2-3 weeks, you can open the cage door. Food and water should be kept both inside and outside of the cage. Once the cats leave, they may never want to go back into the cage.

4. After two more weeks, the cats should be comfortable in their new home and the cage and supplies can be taken away.

5. Caring for your barn cat is as easy as providing fresh food and water daily. Some barn cat caregivers keep litter pans inside their barns, but often are rarely used. Never rely on outdoor cats to sustain themselves on rodents alone, they need a nutrient rich diet to sustain a healthy life.
