We are so proud of these two amazing dogs!!!
Last weekend at the Rose City Classic Scentwork Trials this Sparta crew was in it to win it!!!

Miss Charlie at her first Scentwork trial got all 3 Qs necessary to finish her Scentwork Novice Interior, Buried, and Container titles!!! To top it off she took HIT two out of the three days 💕💕💕!!!! Way to go Char Char Bear!!!
Mr. Hank picked up his final Novice Interior Q with a 🥇 Place and went on to pick up his first Advanced Interior Q also with a 🥇 Place!!!
He picked up his final Advanced Container Q with a 🥇 Place!!!
And he picked up his 2 out of 3 Novice Buried Qs getting a 🥇 one of the days with a time under 5 seconds!!

Charlie is out of our Top Gun litter (Thor x Schatzi) and is now “AKC GCH Sparta’s Going Mach 2️⃣ With Her Hair On Fire, RATN SIN SBN SCN ORT” she also has multiple AKC group placements and NOHS group wins and placements!!! What’s not to love about this sassy package!! 💕💕

Hank is out of our Princess Bride litter (Bogie x Schatzi) and is now “AKC GCHB Sparta’s Have Fun Stormin Da Castle, CGCA CGCU RI BN RATN TKI ATT FDC SEN SIN SCA ORT”!!! This boy can, and does, do it all!!! He also has multiple AKC group placements and NOHS BISs, RBISs, Wins and placements!!!
He is a littermate to Dread and Poppy and we are mighty proud of all these guys!!! 💖💖💖

While half-brother Hank was busy at a Scent Work trial Miss Charlie got to find some rats instead at the SchaSam Farms Barn Hunt trial in Stanwood, and she had a blast!!!

Over the course of 2 days Miss Charlie Bear (CH Sparta’s Going Mach 2️⃣ With Her Hair On Fire) not only earned her Barn Hunt Novice title but she did it with 2 High In Class awards, and on the 3rd run she was 2nd in class, what a way to finish a title ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥!!!
We had such a fun weekend and can’t wait until we get a chance to do it again!!! Thank you to all involved in an engaging weekend!!!

In his continued quest to do all the things Mr. Hank (GCHB Sparta’s Have Fun Stormin Da Castle BN RI CGCU CGCA ATT FDC TKI RATN SCN) got to step back in the show ring for the first time since early January and won back-to-back BOB!!
On Saturday only he competed in OH and won OH Group 3 and made the cut to 6 in the regular group 💖!!
On Sunday he got to run around the Juniors ring with one of his favorite kids, Easton, and they had a blast!!!
He then went on to one day at an AKC Scent Work Trial for only one day and not only did he Qualify in his first Advanced Container run but he took 3rd place in a large entry of talented dogs!!

This boy can do all the things and more, we are just so very proud of him and his absolutely amazing mother Christine, so many accomplishments yet to come ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥!!!

Our sweet and sassy Miss Charlie Bear (CH Sparta’s Going Mach 2️⃣ With Her Hair On Fire) stepped back in to the show ring in Cashmere WA with her super talented Junior Handler Makynlee!! This was their first time showing since early January and they had a phenomenal time!!! In the breed ring they picked up back to back BOS, on Sunday a BOBOH and an OH Group 1!!! While the breed ring was going on Sunday they were running back and forth to the juniors ring where Makynlee won Reserve Best Junior!!! We are so very proud of this young team!!! They have a bright future indeed 💖💖💖!! Charlie is out of our Top Gun litter (Thor x Schatzi) ❤️.

Some very important things to remember about the adolescent brain!

ADOLESCENCE:
As dogs go through adolescence, it’s safe to say things turn a little topsy-turvy! 🙃

If you’re currently at this stage and feeling like you’ve taken one step forward and two steps back, don’t panic! During this stage of life, there’s a lot going on in their busy little brains.

Here are three facts about the adolescent brain 🧠👇

1. The inhibitory neurons of the amygdala that help to dampen down emotional responses don’t fully mature until the END of adolescence.

2. Communication between the frontal cortex and amygdala, which is essential for skills training, decreases during adolescence.

3. Extinction memory is impaired during adolescence, so if your dog has a bad experience it’s much more likely to lead to a ‘hard wired’ fear memory.

Have patience and compassion as you support and guide your dog through this vulnerable period of brain development.
