Or, you can rake them into garden beds, around tree bases, or into other designated areas. All we ask is that you keep them around.

One of my favorite Moth families is the Geometer family (Geometridae). The name is derived from Greek in two parts: "Geo" meaning Earth, and "metron" meaning "measure" which makes sense when you consider the caterpillars in this family are inchworms! Measuring the earth one inch at a time.

Another way that helps me remember the name is that the adult moth forms tend to lay flat and are quite geometrically shaped...
