The Pet Compassion Centers Animal welfare resource center providing food, supplies, veterinary care, and rescue transport. The Pet Compassion Centers receives no government funding.

The Pet Compassion Centers [501(c)(3)] is an animal welfare resource center currently serving the MidSouth region. We address pet overpopulation, reduce shelter strain, fill resource gaps, and improve owner pet retention. We focus on:
- Helping shelters and veterinary professionals better serve their communities
- Reducing shelter intake and associated taxpayer spending
- Assisting elderly, disabl

ed, and disadvantaged residents with keeping their pets

Our programming includes high quality pet food and supply distribution, transport to partner rescue organizations, and educational partnerships with leading veterinary programs. We also partner with local veterinarians, shelters, and approved 501(c)(3) organizations to provide medical assistance as part of our referral low cost veterinary network. Your donations ARE tax deductible. Every donation DIRECTLY impacts animals in our community. Our programs are committed to making a difference by leveraging proven tactics based on extensive research and partnerships. We are in the process of officially changing our name from Kitty City, Inc. to The Pet Compassion Centers (EIN: 45-3972342). The Pet Compassion Centers is a member of the American Humane Association, ASPCA, Alley Cat Allies, and a Best Friends No More Homeless Pets Network Partner.

Meet Lil Bit, a spirited 12-year-old dog with a heart full of love. When she arrived at Pet Compassion Centers (PCC), she faced a daunting challenge—three mammary tumors. Her devoted owner, who had endured a year of very severe health complications, hadn’t realized the seriousness of her condition. What was clear, though, was the unbreakable bond between them. Lil Bit was his world, his constant source of joy.

Due to her age and the cancer diagnosis, other veterinarians would not consider surgery. But our team saw her bright spirit and knew she deserved a chance. After careful evaluation, including bloodwork and chest X-rays to ensure the cancer hadn’t spread, our dedicated veterinarians, Dr. Lynn Svoboda and Dr. María Beatriz Rodríguez Alonso, determined she was an excellent candidate for surgery.

Thanks to their expertise and compassionate care, Lil Bit underwent a successful operation to remove the tumors and has since recovered beautifully. She’s back at home, enjoying life with her loving owner—proof that compassion and expert care can change lives.

Stories like Lil Bit’s inspire everything we do at PCC.

With your help, we’re working toward opening a new dogs-only clinic to serve even more pets and their people. Together, we can ensure every pet has access to the care and compassion they deserve.

As we approach the end of the year, there’s no better time to make a difference. Your support helps us continue providing life-saving care and strengthening the bond between pets and their families.

🎄🐾 Today, we celebrate not only Christmas but also the birthday of an extraordinary veterinarian, Dr. Reena Greer!

Since 2012, Dr. Greer has been a vital part of our mission, helping with spay and neuter surgeries. When we opened our clinic in 2020, she jumped right in, and her impact has been incredible.

In just the past four years, Pet Compassion Centers has provided over 14,000 spay and neuter surgeries—just being open part time and Dr. Greer personally performed more than 10,000 of them, plus hundreds upon hundreds of amputations, enucleations and other live-saving surgeries. What’s even more inspiring? She commutes four hours daily to serve our community.

Dr. Greer, your compassion, commitment, and tireless dedication have transformed countless lives and strengthened the human-pet bond. 💕

Happy Birthday, Dr. Greer! 🎉 Thank you for being an extraordinary person, friend, veterinarian and guardian to animals everywhere. 🐾

Nemo was brought to a local shelter as an injured stray kitten. Missing his left ear and a few toes on his right front foot, it appeared likely he was injured by the fan of a motor. Seemingly unfazed by his condition, Nemo was an extremely affectionate and playful kitten. The veterinarian at PCC was able to perform surgery on his tiny paw, saving most of the main paw pad and one of the toes. Following his surgery, Nemo had no time to waste getting back to his schedule of play and attention, and stole the hearts of everyone in the clinic who met him.

Eventually the day came when it was time for him to find his new family. Nemo’s parents-to-be had recently lost one of their beloved older cats and felt their fur family was in need of some youthful energy to help heal their broken hearts. They fell in love with Nemo’s picture and story, which they found through our Nashville rescue partners. When the family heard that Nemo’s transport to them was going to be delayed, they were so anxious to meet him that they decided to make the drive and pick him up in Memphis. Nemo quickly gave his approval of his new parents by placing himself in his dad’s beard for cuddles. Since moving into his new home, Nemo (now Hawkeye) has settled right in with his fur-siblings and frequently makes appearances on the family’s instagram account.

✨ Help us create more happy endings like Nemo’s!

We chose not to run a GivingTuesday campaign this year. Instead we dedicate this campaign to Meadow Wood Rescue, Inc an organization that recently suffered the loss of its founder, Suzy Young.

People may contact Halls Feed directly to contribute to their Meadow Wood’s account.

In honor Suzy’s legacy, we have created a memorial page on our website for those wishing to donate in memory of her remarkable impact.

Supporting Our Shelters in Times of Need 🐾

The last Saturday, we delivered dog food to this amazing shelter Horn Lake Animal Shelter to help them through a challenging time. We’re thrilled to share that pallets of supplies are on their way, but there’s still more we can do to support them in this crisis.

Every effort, big or small, makes a difference for these animals. Let’s continue to show our commitment and compassion for shelters in need. Together, we can make a lasting impact. ❤️

Uptown Catz continues to add INCREDIBLE VALUE in their community in many ways.

One way is providing pet food in their collaboration with the Bags of Hope to ensure those on the program have pet food for their four legged friends instead of eating the food intended for their humans.

We are honored to support these wonderful efforts that give back to the community!
