When Lincoln burst into our lives nearly 12 years ago, we knew instantly he was no ordinary cat. He was larger than life - in size and personality. For the first half of his time with us, he was a top-notch Chief Executive Kitty at Black Dog Animal Rescue. He loved attention from everyone, two-legged and four-legged (unless you were a kitten), and was certain any visitor was there to see him specifically. He was also a professional menace and really didn't care if anyone liked it or not. You have to admire anyone who lives by their own rules. After he developed diabetes 6 years ago, he went to live full-time with BDAR's founder, Britney, where he became a cherished member of her family. Today, we said goodbye to our bold, loveable Linc. It was a beautiful send-off for a boy who deserved nothing less. He was surrounded by those who knew him best, we relived some of our favorite Lincoln stories, gave him lots of pets and treats, and when it was time for him to go, he peacefully drifted off in a sun spot, as any kitty should. We will all miss him very much. Goodbye, Linky.

Oh, hi! It’s been a couple years since I’ve checked in. The lady with the thumbs and access to my page gave me my insulin injections yesterday so she thought I should let you know I’m still enjoying my retirement from Black Dog Animal Rescue, living it up as a house cat, and as judgmental as ever. 💜💚

Hi everybody! I know it’s been a very long time since you’ve heard from me. But, I just wanted to pop in and let you know I’m doing well! Now anyway. Back when all the humans first started dealing with the pandemic, I got very, very sick and if you can believe it…skinny. I was diagnosed with diabetes and had to go live with one of my work moms permanently. I require two injections of insulin a day and that just wasn’t manageable if I continued to live in the office. I’m back in the office today for a bit because I’m going to another work mom’s house for the week while work mom #1 is out of town. Don’t worry about me, I am back to being healthy and large and just as amazing as always. The humans would like me to tell you to please not let your cats eat and eat and eat because this is what happens - diabetes! I’ll try not be a stranger. 👋🏻

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. But, mostly I just sleep, run out the front door when no one is looking, and tear into the bags of dog food the first chance I get. But, this morning, I shook things up a bit and had a little fun.

Some of you may not know that I have a sister. Her name is Rover. She’s kind of smelly, definitely old, pretty fussy, and prefers to keep to herself. Other than that, she’s great! Rover is looking for a sponsor. I already have a very kind sponsor who’s monthly donation covers my food, litter and routine vet care. The cost of this sponsorship is $500 a year or $41.67 a month. If you would like to ensure that Rover stays smelly and fussy for years to come, have your people email my people at [email protected]. Or just let me know here and I’ll be sure the humans get the message!

The humans threw a holiday party tonight. Everything was fine, and then... I’m not sure what happened. Thank goodness I don’t have to work tomorrow!
