ATTENTION DOG OWNERS!
If you have not already seen this floating amongst your socials, we are sharing it here and wanted to highlight a few key points.

1) Officials have issued warnings to dog owners in parts of Maine 👉🏼 it is unknown what towns these warnings were even issued but keep in mind viruses always travel.

2) Officials say if your dog is not up to date on vaccines, or hasn’t completed a vaccine series do not take them to places like dog parks or highly dog trafficked areas 👉🏼 vaccinated dogs CAN catch parvo just the same as a non vaccinated dog. The vaccine does not give your dog immunity from Parvo, it lessens the severity if they catch Parvo and increases the chances of recovery [similar to the human flu vaccine]. A dog simply sniffing the p**p of an infected dog could leave your pet fighting for their life which is why dog parks are being advised against along with highly trafficked dog areas. What other areas fall under the term “highly trafficked dog areas”? 👉🏼 dog daycares, dog boarding facilities, sniffspots [where anyone can rent someone’s yard for their dog to run about], lovely Maine beaches, dog friendly hiking trails, and many other places of interest for those with dogs.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) canine parvovirus is easily spread by direct contact with infected dogs, contact with f***s from infected dogs, or contact with virus-contaminated surfaces like kennels, food and water bowls so it is imperative to be vigilant and proactive!

Interested in learning more about the dangers of parvovirus and how dogs can be spreading the virus without notice? Check out this great informational post from Eastern Maine Emergency Veterinary Clinic: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1A8yFNuaH8/?mibextid=wwXIfr

And if anything please spread the word that we have shared here in our post today to help better protect the dogs we love!! 🐶💓

The Houlton Police Department says there have been several confirmed cases of canine parvovirus in the community.

IMPORTANT REMINDER

About Service Requests & Pet Updates

At Daisy Care Pet Services, our commitment to providing exceptional care for your beloved pets is our top priority. Recently, we've noticed an increase in last-minute care requests and changes, with some clients expecting immediate responses. To ensure we can continue to deliver the high-quality care your pets deserve, we’d like to share some friendly reminders and solutions that can help us all work together more effectively.

**Plan Ahead for Service Requests:**
To avoid any last-minute hiccups, we encourage you to plan your service requests in advance whenever possible. We believe in fostering respectful relationships, where our clients share the same commitment to preparation and communication that we do. This not only helps us manage our schedules but also ensures that your pets receive the attention they need. By giving us a little heads-up, we can better accommodate your requests and provide the best care for your furry friends.

**Keeping Us Updated:**
We also want to emphasize the importance of keeping us informed about any significant changes regarding your pets. Whether it’s health issues, new medications, or changes in diet, timely communication is key to helping us provide tailored care. If we can establish a habit of updating each other, it will strengthen our relationship and ensure your pets are happy and healthy.

We understand that life can be busy, but acknowledging our updates is equally important. When we send important information, a simple acknowledgment goes a long way in making sure we’re all on the same page. It helps us understand your needs better and ensures that we’re performing our jobs effectively.

We truly value the relationships we’ve built with you and your pets over the years. By working together and communicating openly, we can continue to provide a loving and supportive environment for your furry family members. Thank you for your understanding and for trusting Daisy Care with your pet's care!

🌻 Tuesday Tip from Daisy Care Pet Services!
As fall settles in, it’s essential to be mindful of candles, scents, and decor! 🕯️🍂 While they create a cozy atmosphere, many candles, diffusers, and wall-plugs release harmful toxins like benzene and toluene, which can irritate your pet’s respiratory system. Ingredients are often hidden under vague terms like “fragrance” and “natural,” making it tough to know what’s safe. Popular fall scents, such as Apple, Pumpkin Spice and others contain cinnamon and clove, can be particularly dangerous—cinnamon can lead to liver toxicity in pets, while clove oil may cause gastrointestinal and neurological issues. Plus, unattended candles pose fire hazards! And don’t forget about mums and sunflowers; while lovely, they are toxic to cats and dogs, causing vomiting and diarrhea. Let’s keep our homes cozy and our furry friends safe this season! 💖🐶🍁
