Nomad At Home provides housesitting services that range from simple looking after house plants, feeding fish, & bringing in mail to extensive care taking of all sorts of animals and gardens. A few years after graduating with my Bachelors, living in Florida, I started feeling stuck. I began traveling around the US for a few years working on various types of farms and petsitting/dogwalking. This was

not entirely foreign to me when I started, having grown up on a dairy farm in Eastern Pennsylvania. But eventually I came to a crossroads... As much as I love farming, I also grew to love traveling in my van and the nomadic lifestyle. Animal care experience includes dairy cows, horses, llamas, sheep, goats, chickens, and of course DOGS. Gardening and permaculture skills come from years of study and hobby as well as time spent as an apprentice on a sustainable commercial vegetable farm. I travel in my much-loved conversion van with my own rescue pup named Rosie. She is a Chihuahua mix and you are sure to see her in many of the Nomad At Home photos! Rosie has spent lots of time on farms with me and is used to being around all animals mentioned above.

Fastest foster flip ever! Had Domino for approximately 33 hours lol. He immediately had an interested adopter which is understandable because look at that face! It turned out to be a PERFECT match and Domino already loves his new dad (swipe to end). So happy for him and for me because I didn’t have time to get too attached 🙃💚

Obsessed with the way Miss B gets her lil ankle cuff groom 😭🩷. Don’t worry, we always tell your dog we love their haircut when we notice they got a fresh groom between our visits, the compliments come heavy handed lol.

While we fortunately do not hear as many pet sitters receiving this request anymore, this is your regular reminder to say "NO" to requests to just check on a client's cat every other day.

Remember, you are a professional pet-care provider with professional standards.

Anything can happen when pets are left alone—and cats are no exception. From potentially lethal ailments like the urethral blockage to potential home damages from a cat accidentally loosening a water hose behind a washing machine, not checking on a cat daily while the owner is away can have costly—or tragic—consequences for your business—and the cat.

Happy New Year everyone!

So grateful for all of the pets we will see through 2025. Thinking of the families that are entering the new year without a beloved member of their family 🌈🐾… whether this has been the first holiday season without them, or it’s something you have already gone through before. We know every year will bring a different loss, but we will also meet new puppies, kittens, and all kinds of new friends! And when it feels like the world has forgotten your pet that you still miss so much, just know we remember 💜

Bear, Shea, Scout, Jack, Dunn, Monster, Monroe, Katie, Maggie, Bear, Zeke… and so many more I couldn’t fit in this post.

HAPPY ADOPTION DAY TRISS!

Triss just went home with her forever family and gained a Yorkie brother and cat sibling. She will have a fenced yard to run and play in and even a vacation home in Canada where perhaps she’ll learn to love swimming in the great outdoors eh?! Triss hated when I left her for work so the fact her new pawrents are retired is a jackpot for her 🥰 happy tails wild girl. swipe all the way to see her new family.

In the past few months my mom and and her husband had to let go of 2 of their dogs. Both over 16 years old! Ayja (“Screws!”) came into our family when my mom and Tom got married and she was immediately loved by all! I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a dog love its human the way that Ayja loved Tom. She is going to be talked about forever! There were times when Ayja had comforted me when I really needed it, she was that type of dog. And I’ll always be thankful for her! 💔

Bear had been in my life since my early days of high school! Anyone who has known me for that long may remember him as “Grandpa” as we called him because he always had a grey beard even as a puppy. He was also always a grumpy old man even as a puppy 😬. He was a complicated dog likely due to what he suffered before we adopted him. My family has about a hundred funny stories involving this dog.

It is the end of an era going on without them both.

It’s 60 degrees and late November. 9:45pm and I just got into bed. Today between being out in the proverbial “field” (not a literal field today which is important to mention here) walking dogs and being in my yard with the dogs at home, I pulled off NINETEEN ticks from myself and varying pups. Yes, I did start counting after I found 5 on one dog. None of these today had bitten thankfully. But GOOOOD GRIEF. I thought I was going crazy. Felt like they were everywhere I turned. This was after spraying myself with Wondercide before I left the house. Please have your dogs on a flea and tick preventative (yes, they’ll still pick them up but at least they die quickly if they get on your dogs) and check them as often as you can so that they don’t end up getting on to you. Only posting photos of indoor cats tonight because I can’t look at dogs right now without obsessively checking them 🤮😵‍💫

Big thanks to Bella & Petey’s mom for her generous prescription food donation that we were able to get to where another dog in need can benefit from it! We are always happy to help get pet item donations to rescue organizations. Many members of our team regularly foster and/or volunteer with different local rescues or shelters and some of our clients either work at shelters or even run their very own 501c3! So it’s easy for us to find places where items are greatly needed.

Bella & Petey here are much loved among their Nomad sitters. Bella is sweet as pie once she knows you and Petey is the silliest goofball who is 100% deaf. I think he loves making people laugh, and he for sure loves yeeting pillows off the couch 😂

🩷 NEW FOSTER PUPPY INTRO 🩷

This is Triss, a 4 month old Australian Kelpie mix. She was found by the road leading into the shelter. Whoever left her there couldn’t even be bothered to drive the rest of the way there.

It was a chilly morning picking her up. My nephew got to come along!

She is about 23 lbs currently. What we know about her so far: she is extremely playful, she doesn’t mind being on a leash or harness at all, adores kids, not scared of sounds like gunshots in the distance, good with other dogs.

We are going to learn a lot about her personality over the next couple of weeks so stay tuned for updates and more info!

Meet & greets don’t always guarantee that a dog will be our best friend the moment we walk in the door without their owners home. More often than not, we need to take some time to slowly gain their trust 🤎 #petsitter #dogwalker #pittie

*old video* This seems so obvious to me and I’m sure to other pet professionals, but from interactions I’ve had with some pet owners and ESPECIALLY from reading the comments on dog videos i see online, i know that more people out there need to see and hear this. Even though Dexter and Melon live together and have never been in a serious fight before and these bones are always out, I did not like the body language I saw here with this bone involved. I took this video quickly for the owners to see then immediately took that bone away and split them up and distracted them with some separate play/attention/other toys. Nothing escalated after this video. If you are hiring a professional caretaker for your dogs, they need to have an understanding of dog body language and be able to alert you of these types of things going on. Sometimes dogs act differently in the absence of their owners! For the sitter’s safety and for your pet’s, it is very important to recognize these things! #dogbehavior #dogbodylanguage #professionalpetsitter #boxer #pitbull #blinddog

That time at the farm i was working on, i kept seeing mysterious Lop rabbits hopping around with the other animals. They did not belong to the owner of this farm. They remained a mystery besides the assumption that the neighboring farmer was just very irresponsible allowing domesticated rabbits to breed freely and be loose in the wild (where they would surely be taken by predators).
