We got some cute photos of these darlings from Solosis and Ethel's litter.

Unfortunately with this post comes some sad news, as Ethel suddenly passed away a few days ago. Having a nursing mother pass like this is unusual and something I haven't had happen before, which left me in a bit of a predicament. The babies have only just recently started nibbling on solids and are still very much dependent on milk - girls sometimes continue to nurse well past weaning age.

I am very fortunate to have the support of the NZ Fancy Rat Society and the breeders registered with them, as Misty's Mischief Rattery has just had two litters recently and we hoped that perhaps the mums of those litter could foster these guys.

Luckily Orna has stepped up and we have successfully fostered the babies to her. To help supplement their growth as we aren't too sure of Orna's milk supply, the babies have been getting extra nutrients and healthy fats in a porridge form to help transition them better over to solid foods.

I'm hoping that these babies have now reached a more stable point in their growth that they will be alright and that the girls will soon be able to be introduced to their grandma, and the boys to their dad.

Gogi and Solosis' babies are also 7 days now. Sadly the litter is now down to 7, as one of the masked as passed. Good news though is that the three remaining masked are the healthiest I think I've ever had so fingers crossed for these little guys.

Baby updates! How cute are these two with their eyes open? They will be 3 weeks tomorrow and I'm starting to think of names for everyone.

The lovely Gogi from Interstellar Rattery welcomed eight very fat beans last night with Solosis. She has been a great mum in looking after them! It looks like there might be six girls and two boys.

Look at these darlings! Sadly the litter is now down to eight, as the three masked and runty baby did not make it. The rest of the babies are doing well though and Ethel is a very attentive mama. It looks like there are five boys and three girls.

Are you looking for a lovely pair of boys? These two darlings from Growlithe and Dratini's litter are looking for a new home after their owner sadly found themselves allergic - they have been very loved and spoiled and will be looking for a new home that can provide just as much love and care. They are currently eight months old.

We have blaze! Very excited to see that Solosis and Ethel's litter has produced a blaze girl. I've been trying to produce blaze for years so I'm super stoked and can't wait for fur to come in.

All the babies are doing well and there are even some other cool head markings in the litter.

Our lovely Bilby has just sired a litter over at Winnie's Rattery! Such cute little beans.

Today we welcomed 6 little beans born to Honey in the early morning. They all look really good with big milk bands. So pleased with Honey for being such a good mum 💗

It’s too early to know for sure but at a quick glance it looks like 2 boys and 4 girls.

We are proud to announce the launch of the NZ Fancy Rat Society! Our website is currently experiencing some problems, but the page will be active for the following month with a bunch of amazing posts, including a competition so go and check it out.

Joining the society as a general member gives you lots of great benefits such as priority for a registered breeder's wait list. General membership is open to everybody and currently there is no fee, so if you're a lover of rats then check us out!

Exciting news! The Registered Rat Breeders have done a big revamp of our website and expanded and improved our club. We’re now an official incorporated society - The NZ Fancy Rat Society - and, while we’re still home to the registered breeders, we have expanded membership to include pet rat owners and everyone interested in rats. We’ll be sharing lots over the next few months, including breeder intros, tips and tricks, health and feeding info, how to’s, and competitions.

If you’d like to join the NZFRS membership is free, signing up is super simple, and we promise to send very few annoying emails. Check out our shiny new website for more info!

On the first of every month we’ll be running a competition. This month’s competition is for all new members - sign up and you’re in to win! Scruffians’ potential future stud Tiberius will pick a name at random and the winner will get a prize pack including a ‘rare’ green sputnik, a cozy winter snuggle sack and hammock set, and some natural willow twig chews.

Hestia & Juniper. They’re both PEW, but have different personalities. Juniper is such a sweetheart and Hestia is ultra confident.

These girls must be picked up from us in Wellington, no per transport this time sorry.

We will have four absolutely lovely boys available for adoption soon - keep an eye out for our adoption email which will be sent off tonight.

These little guys are from our Ace and Eloise litter born in January. Eloise is from the lovely Interstellar Rattery and she is one of my absolute favourite girl rats - one of the smoochiest girls I've ever owned. Ace is our sassy cinnamon blaze hood and while this pairing didn't produce the results we wanted in terms of markings, their temperaments more than make up for it. 🥰

Hi everyone! Long time no see. After nearly a year-long break, we are continuing with our breeding plans. We will have a email go out this week to people on our wait list - you can join by answering our adoption questions. Only approved people will be selected to adopt from us, so please keep that in mind.

I am in the process of updating the page as well as my website with missing information, as I've been rather slack with getting around to social media posts.

Recently we had two gorgeous litters born in December as well as a third litter born mid January and the first two litters will be available for adoption soon.

This is Goomy, who will soon be making the journey to Interstellar Rattery where her gorgeous mama Dratini is from!
