🚨 Emergency Case: Pepsi’s Journey to Healing 🚨

Sables Creatures received an emergency call today about Pepsi, a doggie from Shayamoya who was attacked by other dogs. Unfortunately, Pepsi suffered multiple fractures on the back leg and is now in the hospital receiving the care needed. 💔

Once discharged, Pepsi will need to visit the vet every six days for follow-ups and dressing changes. This will be a long and delicate recovery process, but we are committed to ensuring Pepsi gets the best care possible. 🐾

Our very special Mango bird got out about an hour ago in Adrienne Road, Ballito.

Please could you share with whoever is close by on Adrienne and Marion Road. We heard him whistling near Villa Jaime but he’s stopped now.

He is very vocal and responds to Peekaboo, Bean and Mango.

He is missing a few feathers on his tummy so might not be as orange as the photo.

BURNING PAWS :
An important message as the weather heats up 🐾🐾

PLEASE leave me at home if it's too hot or please wait until it's cooler ! It's not nice for me to run next to you on the burning beach sand and hot tar.

But because I am a loyal dog, I often go beyond my limits. And so I run beside you, stand still if I must. And feel my paws burn. I look at you for a moment, but you don't understand. Because in 5 minutes, we will be at the cool puddle, right? But those 5 little minutes can now just be fatal for me.
Because I sweat through my tongue and feet
and this heat I just can't reach it the puddle in time...

I cook from the inside, but I keep going.....
And so I end up on the asphalt or blazing sand. In the heat and in the sun. With my tongue out of my mouth and my eyes blinking in the sun.

My feet burned my tongue dry and my head pounding from the heat that my body can't get rid of the heat.

Don't brand the paw print!

Let your dog enjoy the sun, at home with a large bowl of water, a place in the shade. And best of all, preferably a cool patch of grass.

With the current heat wave, it is important to keep our pets cool!
Heatstroke is extremely dangerous, so here are some tips on keeping your pets cool:

-Avoid walking them during the day, take dogs for walks early in the morning or later in the early evening or if still too hot please rather skip the walk. Take some water with on the walk. You can use it to give your dog a drink, but also to cool him down if needed by pouring it over him.

-Make sure there is always cool water around and a cool place for them to find shelter from the sun.

-Don't leave your pets in the car, even with the windows slightly open, not even for a few minutes !!!!

-Certain breeds are more prone to overheating, like English bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, but also overweight dogs can overheat very easily..

What to do when your dog is suffering from heat stroke?

All heat stroke pets must be taken to the vet, but there is a few things you can do at home while someone is grabbing keys and bags.

-Move them out of the sun to a cool place, cool tiles inside will help
-Cool them down with cool wet towels on their bodies and head, you can also use a fan
-Give them cool water to drink
-Get them to your vet as soon as possible

Ps - Please dont walk them on hot tar or hot beach sand !!

UPDATE: Shayamoya Pup’s Journey to Recovery 🐾

Yesterday, Team Sables visited Puppy from Shayamoya, who has been recovering after fracturing his leg. 🐾

We were thrilled to see how well Puppy is doing! The cast is holding up beautifully, and Puppy’s spirits were high as he greeted us with lots of tail wags and happy energy. 🥰 To make sure Puppy stays comfy and cozy, we brought along a kennel filled with warm blankets.

Puppy is scheduled for a follow-up vet appointment next week to check on his progress. Your ongoing support makes his journey to recovery possible. 💕

This morning, one of our amazing volunteers fetched four dogs from Etete for spaying and neutering. 🐶💙

Rita, one of the female doggies, was diagnosed with Erlichia, a tick-borne disease. She needs to stay overnight at the vet so they can monitor her closely and provide the treatment she urgently needs. 💊🐾

As many of you may know, Seema, the founder of Sables Creatures Animal Rescue, and her beloved dog Hunty were recently involved in an accident. They both walked away battered and bruised and the Sables Creatures vehicle was unfortunately written off, leaving them without a vital tool to continue reaching the animals in need.

The vehicle plays an essential role in transporting animals to safety, to vet appointments, and to their forever homes. Without it, our ability to help these vulnerable animals is greatly impacted. 🐾 UPDATE: Shayamoya Pup’s Journey to Recovery 🐾

This morning, two of our dedicated volunteers transported this brave little pup from Shayamoya to the vet for his follow-up appointment. During the visit, his leg cast was replaced, ensuring he stays on the right path to healing.

Afterward, he was safely returned home, where he’s now resting comfortably with some cozy blankets, a bed, toys, and food provided by Sables.

This resilient pup will need another vet visit next week to continue his recovery journey. We’re committed to giving him the care he deserves, but we can’t do it without your help.

On Saturday, November 30th, Sables Creatures hosted a FREE Rabies Vaccination Campaign at Townsend Park in Ballito, and it was an incredible success!

🎉 We are thrilled to share that 210 dogs and cats were vaccinated, taking an important step toward keeping our community and pets safe from rabies. 🐶🐱
