Matilda is an adorable 3 month old black kitten who loves to cuddle, be silly and chase her tail. She is one of Madge from Hohenwald's babies. Poor Matilda had a scary day yesterday. She was under anesthesia for her spay at Joy Clinic when her oxygen level dropped dangerously. The vet believes that she has either a hernia on her larynx or possibly a lung problem. Matilda will need an exam, X-rays, and a spay surgery at a full service vet because it is a higher risk surgery. This will cost $600-$800. Matilda will need donations to cover the procedure. She will also need time to gain weight before it would be safe to do the surgery. If you can donate any amount toward Matilda's surgery, it would be tremendously appreciated!
Della has been fostered here for months now and never once allowed another cat to invade her personal space. But apparently Sparkle is special. 😻
Heart and Brave say that brown paper is super fun to play with. Almost as much fun as bopping Sparkle on the face. Heart and Brave will be ready for adoption in 4-6 weeks.
Griffin is now 7 months old. He was born with a missing hind paw. Griff is still shy with people but absolutely loves to play and cuddle with all of his kitty friends. Griffin is hoping to find a quiet home with a kitty friend.
The further adventures of Tommy and his red toy. Now he has decided that it must go inside my shoe. What's more fun than playing with a red toy? Playing with a red toy and a shoe at the same time!
Tommy says that freshly washed toys are super tasty and exciting! He growled and stalked this red toy until he flipped the stairs on top of himself. Silly boy! He is available for adoption.
Poor Jerry has been trying to find his forever home for months now. He is 5 years old and is a very calm and cuddly boy. Most cats love food most of all but Jerry loves cuddles the most. All he wants is to share his purrs and snuggles with a lucky human. He is good with other cats and calm dogs but is scared of children. He comes with a free carrier, litter pan, food and grooming supplies. His adoption fee is just $50 due to his age. He has had two approved adopters so far but neither one was willing to actually adopt him.
After 6 months in a cage and no luck with finding a barn home, we decided to try Wiley as an outside cat here. He has never been happier!! He gets along fine with Morton and the Maple St ferals and is thoroughly enjoying his freedom.
This is Lucien in his new home. Doesn't look like he is feral anymore! 😻
This is Tyrone with his new babies. Unfortunately Julia's milk curdled so she had to be separated from her babies. But Tyrone is happy to nurse them and help them feel loved. 😻. Here he is licking Sugar and nursing Raven, Sparrow and Hawk.
Our beautiful and loving Jordan will need a leg amputation. She has an old injury to her right foreleg that leaves her walking on the stump of her leg. This is painful and because she has no paw pad there, it will eventually get sore and infected. She has already had her x-rays and bloodwork done. We are asking for donations to help cover her surgery in August. The initial cost was $1,000, however we were able to get her scheduled with CASA Transport, a local low cost surgery clinic specifically for rescues at a price of only $500.
This is 3 month old Dragon, born without hind paws, loving on his 15 year old friend, Tyrone.
After watching the other kittens play for an hour this morning, Phoenix decided that he was going to play too!
Phoenix tested negative yesterday and is now 5 weeks old! His back legs are not paralyzed because he can move them. He drags them when he wants to go fast but is able to stand on all 4 legs when he slows down. He is making great improvement with physical therapy at home already! He is also a fat little butterball who eats plenty and uses the litter pan every time.
Apparently my new $2 Walmart nail polish is the best cat toy ever! Sparkle took it first, then Hope decided to join the fun. Sparkle shows off her signature bounce pounce several times.
Meet Phoenix! He is an adorable 4 week old orange tabby boy who has problems using his back legs. He came to Healing Hearts today via transport from Young Williams Animal Center in Knoxville. His legs don't appear to be paralyzed because he can sit up and has some movement in them.
Poor Ellen says that it's a good thing that 4 of these kittens are getting fixed this week. The Ellen milk bar is a little overcrowded! 😉
Today Wiley had the rest of his mats combed out and got a Churu treat as his reward for putting up with being groomed. Now he is actually grooming himself for the first time since he got here!!
Wonder is SO patient with his baby sister. He was sleeping when she started biting his foot. Instead of biting back, he sat up, wrapped his paws around her in a hug and licked her. 😻
Kiara felt bad after playing too rough with her little brother, so she decided to give Kovu hugs and lots of kisses.
Letting babies eat on their own is a messy business, but Wonder is happy to help clean up his tiny kitten friends.
Teeny love! Kovu and Kiara are very bonded. They are constantly hugging each other.
Wonder, Ivy, Hope and Henry, our four forever kitties, enjoying the new donated toy.
Henry has some great news!!! His fever is down to 104 and his platelets are now back to normal. He needs one more day and night on IV fluids and then he can hopefully come home tomorrow morning on just oral antibiotics. A huge thank you to everyone who prayed for him! Wonder can't wait to give his big brother some more snuggles and licks.
This is Cleo walking and expressing her opinion loudly! Her back legs seem to be much longer than her front legs. That seems to be the source of her unsteady walk. She is very loving despite her grumpy personality.
Our sweet Fred is still looking for his forever home. Fred is 14 years old and is declawed on all 4 paws. He is up to date on vaccines, and had a recent healthy exam, senior panel and a dental. Fred just wants to get as many snuggles as he possibly can. This lovebug would be a great emotional support animal, particularly for a lonely older person or someone who is medically fragile. Fred does need a home with no other pets because he wants all the cuddles for himself. He comes with his heated cat bed and litter pan.
This is Henry enjoying his birthday springie toys.
This is Wonder's music video. He and Henry love to race around making mischief.
Buff is still looking for his forever home. He is a big buff tabby boy with beautiful green eyes. Buff is very friendly and loves children. He gets irritable when he is forced to stay inside for too long and is determined to get back outside at any cost. Buff is microchipped now and has a collar and ID tag. He is looking for a family that lives in an area where he could safely be an indoor/outdoor cat. He is good with other cats and calm dogs as long as he gets some outside time.
Holly thinks plastic grocery bags are super fun!
