My Story
“Nature does not hurry, yet all things are accomplished.” --Lao Tzu What could happen when we take the time to observe the characteristics of nature and attempt to immolate them? When we notice the natural world around us, then we begin to see reflections of ourselves in it, and we remember that we are not separate from the living system of this planet. The intelligence that lives in us can reach out and touch the intelligence in ALL living things. Is it possible that the plants and the animals have something important to tell us--if we are willing listen? Maybe, if we asked them, they would whisper gently that each of us is Sacred, each Human carries immense value and importance, not because it was given to us, but because it is an innate part of us, its been inside of us all along. Perhaps we might remember for a moment that we are more than our bodies, our wounds, our belongings. And if we could remember that, then we might also remember to act towards ourselves in more loving ways. Taking more time to listen, to nurture, to understand. When we can learn to give this to ourselves, then we can also turn the gift of harmony outward to meet our fellow Humans with a loving, open heart like the brave shining face of the summer wildflower. We are human BEINGS. It is defined as a noun--not a verb; “To occupy a position in space, to exist, to come/go/visit”. From my perspective, we are all just visiting this place, our permanent home is something we cannot see or touch. If this is so, how are we acting as guests of this planet? In our human doings we have created an impact on the balances of the natural systems of our Earth. Now that we have observed that our actions are creating harm, we cannot ignore our responsibility to do things differently. In our world of producing and doing and achieving, it seems there has been little room for things like rest, peace, or joy. The old paradigm of forcefully creating from fear and lack is dissolving, and a new way of being is forming in the minds and hearts of Humans living in this time.
Do you feel it? The sense of yearning to be connected to something, the hunger that still roars after you have eaten your fill of fine foods, the sense that there is something more than the going and the doing and the gaining? Perhaps we have been told a false story, given names that were not true to us---is it possible that we have been deceived by the illusion that our happiness and our worth relies on outside measures which can be bought or conquered? Must we hold our precious things clutched tight to our chest so that we do not loose them? Has all the clutching and the buying and the conquering satisfied us yet? I do not see that it has. What if there were other ways to approach our experience of life? Could it be true that nature has already given us a perfect model for how to lead a harmonious, prosperous, and pleasurable life? What is her example and how does it translate to the human experience? It is my intention to explore these and many other questions here with you all. Thank you for BEING here :) WITH LOVE Gaia’s Footsteps
