Today was a very sad day at Ridgeview. We said goodbye to 3 dear friends. First was Sugar, who was 27 years old, led a full life as a trail horse, pasture companion, giving rides to children and adults. She was always a graceful lady and we will miss her dearly.

Scarlett was only 2 years old, the orphan foal we adopted from River Valley Horsecamp. She had a bad fall in May when she slipped in the rain and tore her stifle. We hoped she could recover but it was increasingly clear that she was in pain and not healing.

Sadly, she was the companion to the blind gelding Mad Dog and he immediately panicked when we put her down and he couldn’t find her. Out of concern that he would be in severe distress and hurt himself looking for her, we were forced to put him to sleep as well.

Run free, dear friends. We will miss you.
