DOG DAYS are upon us! The countdown has begun to the 4th of July! Our busiest day and weekend of the year. Many of you have already experienced memorial day fireworks in your areas and we are already seeing lots of dogs lose. NOW is the time to do your part. See below for a few of the most important tips to follow. NOW is the time to get those collars on, NOW is the time to get your tags on with current numbers and NOW is the time to get your microchips updated. Also, call in your prescriptions soon for meds if thats what your dog needs during the night of the 4th. Make sure your RELIABLE dog sitters are dialed in if you are going to need one. CHECK all your gate locks and fencing now to make sure they are secure as even the dogs who normally won't jump, dig or climb or leave a back yard, WILL GET OUT during fireworks if left with access to the yard. For those of you with local missing pet/lost pet pages in your cities, please be sure to contact those pages directly with any lost or found dogs the day and night of the 4th that you may find. This will help owners and rescuers and the shelters. The shelter intakes and resources will be MAXED! Anything you can do to help a found dog by posting them on a missing pet page, getting them scanned for a chip, putting up a hand written found flyer in the area and holding onto them for a bit would help the Shelters, help the Dogs and the Search and Rescue Teams. Thank you!!!

American Independence Day, the 4th of July, conjures up visions of good times with family and friends, time off, picnics and summer fun - as it should!

Summer reminder…

Here are temperatures outside our shelter using a laser thermometer on different surfaces. The next week will be exceptionally hot, and 118 degree surfaces can cause severe burns on pets’ paws. Walk yours in the morning, evening, or in the shade!

Weather should be good for the next few days.
Today’s Mission Oaks & Freedom were open while Springville Dog Park remained closed; hopefully Springville is open for the weekend.

Sounds like fun! Be sure to rsvp to Petropolis (Camarillo) if you plan to attend. 🐾🐾🐕🐾🐾

The hillsides are green, there’s probably snow at the nearby mountains AND all our dog parks are currently open. Enjoy them, but expect more rain with park closures this weekend.
