We’re still planning to bring some ewe lambs and our ram to the sale barn. Come out and take a look. Hopefully the rain holds off some and it’s still a good time.

Our 5th Annual G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) Sheep and Goat Festival is happening THIS Saturday, and we're not let the possibility of a little rain dampen our spirits! ☔️ The New River Valley Fairgrounds have got us covered - literally! Our kids' activities, vendors, demos, and adorable animals will be high and dry under their big ol' roofs. Plus, we've got an amazing lineup of entertainment, including a sheep-herding demonstration and a petting zoo where you can get up close and personal with our furry friends! 🐑 And don't forget to try some of the delicious food and drinks available from our vendors! 🍔🌮 So, be prepared to grab your rain boots and your sense of adventure, and get ready for a fun-filled day at the G.O.A.T Festival! ☁️

We have more than one place for the sheep to go into the woods for shade. Enough space for all of them comfortably. Yet, they all squeeze in this one little spot every single day. I don’t understand.

I don’t understand this sheep. She’s our biggest pain in the ass sheep. Always running from us. Always difficult. She’s super protective of her lambs and will go after the kids if I don’t watch her when she has small lambs, but yet….without lambs this is how she acts with my kids. She even laid down on her own while my daughter was petting her. Her daughter is Lucy, my unusually friendly ewe from two years ago. Her granddaughter is another favorite lamb who’s also super friendly. But just the other day I wanted to strangle this ewe cause she was running around like crazy trying to get away from us.

I guess we interrupted her snack time.

We finally finished shearing the adult sheep. We did a few at a time and David saw the chiropractor twice, but they’re done. The first picture is of our old girl ( #14) who knows that shearing isn’t the end of the world. Much easier to shear when they don’t wiggle around the whole time. Second pictures is of a ewe ( #109) we’re gonna breed this next season. We decided to leave the top knot, cause why not. It makes us laugh every time we see her. And lastly, the third picture is of a January ewe lamb ( #113). She’s 3/4 Suffolk/1/4 Katahdin. Comes from one of our favorite current ewes. She consistently produces nice large lambs every year. Her lambs last year were the largest of the bunch. This lamb is no exception. She would make a great addition to anyone’s breeding program for either commercial sheep or as a recip ewe.

The shearing of sheep commences. We got our ram, Taz (who will be for sale late this fall) and Vlad done tonight. Vlad is a merino wether who is our least favorite to shear, but he’s done. The pile of wool pictured is only about 1/2 the wool so far.

I was trying to rake up the barnyard and Wimpy thought he would “help” aka stand in my way at all times.
