Be aware that this is the time of the year that most of our wildlife are having babies. As cute as they are, and no matter how much you want to snuggle with them, all wildlife carries dangerous bacteria and parasites! This is also the season that people like to do their outside cooking and barbecuing. Most people really don't do a very good job of cleaning up after these events. At nighttime when our nocturnal wildlife is out and about, guess what they are drawn to? Yes! To our backyard cooking sites and drawn to the smell of all the food cooked on our grills, as well as things spilled on the countertops and picnic tables. Until properly cleaned, this is not a safe area for us to congregate. These animals such as raccoons, opossums, and rats crawl all over our cooking surfaces and our cooking utensils. It leads to these animals urinating and pooping everywhere! Especially with rats! These new built outdoor kitchens can be the worst! That is why it is important that a thorough cleaning should be done after every event!
You can contact Statewide Animal Control to come out for a free inspection and quote you on the best way to animal proof your cooking station! We also provide a 10-year warranty on all of our work!

Statewide Animal Control was called in to locate a kitten that was stuck in an attic yesterday. It had been there for days, crying. No one had seen the mother during this entire time. The kitten was abandoned, or something may have happened to the mother. In any event, it was critical that this baby was located and given the needed nourishment to ensure its survival. After the baby was found, a thorough search of the attic was done to make there weren't any more there. There wasn't! He was a little lone survivor!
I want to thank Beth, Dot, and Tianna for their fast response and networking abilities to assure lifesaving assistance! Y'all are the best!

It is reported that in Harris and Montgomery County, there are 100 to 200 snake bites a year. 70% of those bites are copperhead bites. I believe that this mainly because of their size, and coloration, giving these snakes a greater ability to camouflage in with leaves, sticks, and rocks. Also, with many new subdivisions being built within a year, and developing established ecosystems that draw in new unsuspecting homeowners to Harris and Montgomery County that are not familiar with our wildlife. It is a good idea to protect yourself and your family by familiarizing yourself with the types of snakes in your area, as well as spiders, wasps and bees! Enjoy all the fascinating wildlife that this great state has to offer! At the same time, stay safe!

Statewide Animal Control seasonal information on wildlife control!

The season is upon us, and all creatures are flourishing such as bees, squirrels, opossums, snakes, bats, raccoons, coyotes, varieties of birds, and other species in the state of Texas not mentioned that Statewide Animal Control works with! There are special precautions that need to be taken into consideration when moving wildlife. If you're hearing things in the attic or the walls, the first thing people usually think of first is to get a trap to get rid of the culprit. People have to realize that the main reason wildlife want to gain access to our home, is to have a location that can protect their young as well as being close to their food sources. This time of year, I look at every situation as though there are babies involved. If there are no babies involved then no harm done, but if there are and they are not removed then they will die. A situation like that will create a biological hazard, putting you and your family at risk of bacterial exposure. The best thing to do is bring in a professional that already has the right tools and techniques for removing unwanted wildlife from your home as well as knowing the laws that govern your situation. There are laws involved in the removal of most wildlife, so it is important that you do your homework on the species believed to be in your home, so that you will be in compliance with all laws, state and federal. This information is meant to get the public to research their situation so they can make a better decision on what they need to do!
Let this season be a safe one for you and your family as well as the wildlife that occupy your area!

Statewide Animal Control public awareness message! Texas is home to a variety of poisonous and non poisonous snakes. This is the season for snakes to be showing back up in our yards and around our community lakes. It’s very important to educate yourself on the snakes that are indigenous to your area. That way you know when to call in a professional to remove a threat. For instance, in the Houston/Harris county area there are many species of snakes but the most common that Statewide Animal Control is called out on are the Western Cottonmouth water moccasin. These snake can be very aggressive at times and should be removed by a professional. I’m including these photos to help familiarize the public. That way the public can make an educated decision on how their situation should be handled. I have included several photos for the public to use as a reference. Don’t forget to educate yourself on the other poisonous snakes indigenous to your area like the copperhead and coral snake. Download photos to your phone for fast and easy reference. For other question, feel free to contact Statewide Animal Control anytime to help you create a safer environment for your family and friends!
