Thank you for everything Ma’am. May you rest in Peace with your beloved Duke.

There is a place that you go,
No matter what you believe,
While all those who love you,
Take time to grieve.

The sweet smell of hay,
And the greenest of grass,
Gentle soft muzzles,
A place time doesn’t pass.

Your loss will be felt,
But we’ll take comfort and know,
The day that you left,
We knew where you’d go.

Reunited with loved ones,
No more to depend,
Reins in one hand,
Your ride never ends.

While we all mourn,
While we’ve lost someone great,
We know that so many,
Wait for you at the gate.

Thank you, your majesty,
For all that you’ve done,
Gather up the reins now,
It’s your time to ride on.

The beautiful Rocco! Thank you Beaumoor Sentire ❤️

🤓 INTERESTING FACT 🤓
In days gone by, it was common for yards to make what was known as "Poo Tea" ....yum!
Droppings would be used from a known healthy horse and a watery mixture would be made by straining it through cloth. This was then fed to any horse that they felt was experiencing gut issues.

Most of you know that I'm passionate about gut health and this little guy's gut is no exception.
I'm chuffed to say that he's not had one single day with a runny bum 🎉 which seems to be common in many foals.
This is often said to be because of the mare coming into season and is known as the foal heat. This theory has since been disproved as foals who've had no contact with a mare (orphans brought on by goats for example) have shown similar periods of diarrhea.
Often the diarrhea is so bad, that the foals bottom needs washing daily and vaseline applied to prevent sores forming. 😪

In my humble opinion, its always been about the diversity and health of the mums gut which really makes a difference to the foal.

The so called "foal heat" would happen at between 4 and 14 days after birth.
What also happens around this time is the foal will often start to nibble at bits of forage/feed and importantly start to eat the mares manure! This is nature's clever way of providing the foal with much needed bacteria!

Talking of bacteria! As I've mentioned before, Floss is wormed with a natural wormer from the Forest Farmacy as I refuse to destroy months and even years of work i've put into getting her gut in tip top condition.
It's a known fact that chemical wormers can have a detrimental effect on the gut, some horses even become unridable after worming 😪
To confirm the natural wormers effectiveness, Floss had regular blood tests and egg counts before foaling.

Floss is also fed a range of awesome natural Forest Farmacy supplements including carbon (biochar) and various clays with live pro-biotics and Fulvic Acid, all mixed in with the fabulous St. Hippolyt feed (which contains no chemical processes or preservatives and no 💩! )

I really do believe that the health of the mares gut, is very much reflected in the health of the foals.

I hoped Rocco wouldn't suffer from the dreaded foal scours, but the truth is, as a first time breeder, I honestly didn't know!.... but I was secretly optimistic that he wouldn't.
Turns out we did OK!
Super healthy foal, happy mom and the cleanest little bright bay bum in town!

Am I the only one who gets excited about seeing perfectly formed little foal poo's! 🤔 🤣🙈

As always, massive thanks to my friend and mentor Irene Llewellyn for sharing her knowlage and passion, and for helping my horses achieve super happy, healthy bodies and minds! ❤
