♥️GRACIE - PIN UP OF THE MONTH♥️

We’ve decided each month to do a piece on the cat from our calendar. For January it’s our gorgeous Gracie.

Gracie came into our care in May 2024. She is three years old and is a little sweetheart who loves a fuss and a cuddle. We really don’t know why she’s still with us. She absolutely loves people and demands attention from whoever is around.

If you would like to meet Gracie or any of the gorgeous cats here at Travis get in touch with your full address including house number and postcode. We google locations to ensure safety as we don’t home on or anywhere near busy/fast roads or railway lines.

Have a fab Friday everyone! ♥️

🙏THANK YOU 🙏

These are some of the gorgeous cats here that would like to say THANK YOU to everyone that took part in Travis Tuesday yesterday. We raised £102 which will go directly towards the cats and kittens here at Travis.

You have all been incredibly generous with your donations and our JustGiving page has reached £1,210 already. ♥️

We estimated the cost of the Perspex sheeting to protect the outside catservatory from the wind and rain to be £1,500. We’ve decided, as well as the catservatory we would like to do the four pens as well and we estimate the total cost for everything to be around £2,300 so we’ve increased the target on JustGiving to that amount. We appreciate it may take a while to reach that target but if anyone can help with a small amount it will soon add up.

Thank you everyone. Without your continued support none of this would be possible.

Have a good day! ♥️

♥️TRAVIS TUESDAY♥️

Welcome to Travis Tuesday to all our new followers.

On this day we ask all our followers to donate just £1 to help us care for the cats and kittens here at Travis. £1 may seem like a small amount but every single £ adds up and really helps us do what we do. Details of how you can donate are on the poster below.

As always a big THANK YOU to all our regular followers who have set up Standing Orders so you don’t forget your donation each week.

We have two new residence in the rescue this week. Two stunning six month old black panther sisters Bella and Boo. Photos to follow. They will need to be got ready for homing very soon. The total cost to get each cat ready for homing not including food and medication if needed is around £250 so as you can imagine donations are really important to us.

We also have a few new projects planned for 2025 so watch this space.

Have a good day everyone! ♥️

🌈RIP FLO🌈

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to long term resident Flo. 😭

Flo came into our care in October 2017 when her owner passed away. She was about six years old.

Despite her sweet looking demeanour she quickly earned the nickname ‘Av A Go Flo’ as she had a passion for biting hard and swiping. We loved her though and she tolerated us and any visitors here as long as we all knew our place.

We couldn’t keep her in a pen all her life so she was allowed out. We soon had to put a stop to that because if any of my neighbours left doors open she was in their houses like a shot! One time somebody found her asleep on their bed and builders working in a house opposite found her in their van sharing their packed lunch! She was a character. After that for her safety she was only allowed in outside enclosed areas.

As she got older her feisty manner mellowed a little and she allowed us to stroke her. The biting became less of a problem because most of her teeth had been removed during a dental but her thunder paw remained active as and when she felt fit to use it.

The past few months Flo had tummy problems and being a long haired cat often got herself in a mess which needed sorting out at the vet under sedation. The last bought of diarrhoea resulted in her having her fur shaved off completely from her bottom and back legs and she was put on stronger medication. Faecal samples came back clear of any infection. She became red raw and she must have been really sore. The vet did touch on letting her go a few weeks ago but I wanted to give her a chance so we tried another course of tablets. Sadly they didn’t work. She had lost a lot of control over her bowels.

She went back to the vet yesterday. The vet said it may be inflammatory bowl disease. It could be a tumour. I wasn’t going to put her through the added trauma of scans and biopsies so we let her go. 😭

Even though in my heart I know it was the right decision it never sits well with me.

Rest in peace our fiesty Flo. ♥️

♥️THANK YOU!♥️

It’s Sandie and Mabel’s turn to come on and say thank you today to everyone that took part in Travis Tuesday yesterday. We raised a lovely £71 which will go directly towards the care of the cats and kittens here at Travis Cat Rescue.

Yesterday Sandie went in for an overnight stay to be spayed today. Such a sweet little girl. Barely a year old and has had two litters of kittens already. ☹️ No more kittens for Sandie.

The other cat is Mabel who has had a bit of a cold and has been off her food. Nothing serious but we like to nip things like that in the bud so she went in and was given an antibiotic and steroid injection and an appetite stimulant. We’ll be keeping a close eye on her over the next few days.

We saw the vet Ken who appears to have a bit of a following with the ladies on fb. One of them bought him a mug which I thought was hilarious! No offence Ken!

I’d like also to take the opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that has donated to our JustGiving. We’ve already raised £1,135 in just four days! Wow!!! That’s just £365 away from our target! That’s absolutely incredible. Your kindness is much appreciated and you’ll be sick of me saying this but I really couldn’t do any of this without your help and support. 🙏

Have a good day everyone! ♥️

♥️THANK YOU♥️

It never stops here at Travis. I’m so grateful for the help from all my volunteers. We’d never manage it all if it wasn’t for them!

Nicky left her circular saw at home yesterday and instead came armed with her tool box and drill. 😊

We’ve started the improvements planned for 2025. We’ve had some wooden panels put up along one side of the catservatory at ground level to stop any dirt going into the join of the floor and base of the framework. Nicky also put up some shelves on the far side of the catservatory so the cats have another wall to scale and run up and down on. It didn’t take long for them to test it out.

We will see about ordering the Perspex panels to wind/rain proof the area as soon as possible. Estimated cost for that is £1,500. The cats absolutely love that outside area so we need to make it as nice as possible for them.

We set up a JustGiving page yesterday morning and we’ve already reached 45% towards our goal as there already is £700 donated. Wow! Absolutely amazing! A huge THANK YOU to everyone that’s contributed so far. The link is pinned to the top of our page if you haven’t already donated and would like to. It doesn’t have to be a lot. Every single penny makes a difference.

You have all been so incredibly generous in helping us. I really don’t know what I’d do without all your support.

Have a good day everyone! ♥️

Many of you have asked about our latest project fundraiser - to fit Perspex screens in the open run areas and the large catservatory - which we have estimated will cost in the region of £1,500.
We are therefore excited to announce that we have just launched a new JustGiving page and would be so grateful for any help you are able to give. Any donation - even £1 - really does make a massive difference.
You can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/traviscatrescuescreens2025
Thank you

Iʼm raising money to buy Perspex panels to act as wind shields for the catservatory area and runs attached to the pens.. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

What are your fur friends doing this Friday.

🙏THANK YOU!🙏

A few of our beautiful cats would like to say thank you to everyone that took part in Travis Tuesday yesterday. We raised £93 which will go directly towards the care of the cats and kittens here at Travis.

We have a few projects in the pipeline this year. One of them being to fit Perspex screens in the open run areas and the large catservatory area.

This will enable the cats to sit out in those areas and be shielded from the wind and rain but still be able to see out. The panels will be removable during the Summer months so the cats can enjoy a cool breeze.

We have calculated that the cost of covering all the areas will be in the region of £1,500.

We will be setting up a JustGiving page for anyone that wants to donate towards this.

Have a good day everyone! ♥️

♥️TRAVIS TUESDAY♥️

It’s Travis Tuesday again!

Let me explain to our new followers what Travis Tuesday is.

Travis Tuesday is where we ask all our followers to donate just £1 to help us care for the cats and kittens here at Travis. £1 may seem like such a small amount but every £ donated really does add up and really does make a difference.

To our regular followers who have set up standing orders so you don’t forget your donation as always a big THANK YOU!

We have a few projects planned this year to improve the living conditions of the cats and kittens here so we’re hoping more of you will support us in fundraisers like Travis Tuesday.

I keep saying this but without all your help Travis Cat Rescue simply wouldn’t exist so please keep supporting us any way you can.

Have a great day everyone! ♥️

♥️SANDIE♥️

Today we would like to introduce you to gorgeous little Sandie that came into our care last Saturday.

Sandie was surrendered because of quite sad circumstances through no fault of her own. She’s about one year old and has already had two litters of kittens. When she’s a little more settled and less fearful we will get her vaccinated, chipped, and spayed ready for homing.

She is with one of our lovely volunteers here Cassie. I think you’ll all agree that Sandie is a little cutie pie.

Have a good day everyone. ♥️

♥️FIRST ADOPTION OF 2025♥️

We are really pleased to share with you that our lovely big boy Pumpkin has found a new home with Mum and Dad Andrea and Mike and their two children Alison and Harrison.

Pumpkin came into our care in June 2023 because he wasn’t coping well with a three year old child. He’s patiently waited for this moment and it’s finally arrived.

We hope you have a long and happy life in your new home Pumpkin pie. ♥️

♥️MILO♥️

Meet our boy Milo.

Milo came into our care only yesterday. He was surrendered into our care because he was swiping, scratching and biting the five year old child he lived with.

Since being with one of our foster carers he’s shown no signs of aggression at all. He was very anxious and wary when he arrived but has settled down really well.

He’s around six months old. He’s been castrated, chipped, flea’d and wormed and fully vaccinated.

Milo isn’t up for adoption just yet. We need to assess him properly before he’s homed but when the time comes Milo will need a quiet home with no young children and no other pets.

If you are interested in meeting Milo or any of the cats and kittens here at Travis I will need your full address including house number and postcode. I google locations to ensure safety as I don’t home on or anywhere busy roads or railway lines.

Have a good day! ♥️

😺BACK TO THE BEGINNING😺

Travis Cat Rescue has been operating now for nine years so I thought you may like to know how it all came about. My followers from the beginning will know but over the years as the following has increased some of you won’t be aware.

I was a fosterer for two of the larger feline charities for six years before Travis was set up. I’ve been involved with rescue work for fourteen years and I’ve had cats for over fourty years. I’ve always been passionate about feline welfare and a lot of people were saying I should set up my own rescue. I never in a million years thought it would be possible.

First of all it’s not that easy. If you do things properly which I knew I had to do it’s hellishly expensive. Every cat has to be neutered, chipped, vaccinated, flea’d and wormed and vet checked. It costs £250 + to get a cat ready for homing. That’s without food and medication while they’re in care. I’m extremely fussy and careful where I home so I don’t have a quick turnaround like the big rescue centres. I believe it has to be the right cat for the right home. It’s no use homing a cat in the wrong environment or the cat will come back into care and that’s traumatic for the cat.

Travis started unofficially in late 2016 and by the beginning of 2017 a really good friend of mine Jenny Francis got stuck into setting up a fb page and the website. She helped with so many aspects of the rescue I honestly don’t think Travis would be up and running today if it wasn’t for her.

Financially I really don’t know how I managed in the early days. It was a struggle but I was determined not to give up. Travis was also plagued by a nasty, jealous troll with a fake profile. I knew who she was and had to get a solicitor to send a letter to her threatening legal action if she continued.

In 2017 Jenny moved to Devon but she remained a loyal supporter both financially and by way of deliveries from Amazon.

Before moving to Devon Jenny did all my home visits. When she moved to Devon that was obviously not possible anymore. I’ve always google searched locations to ensure safety when I’m homing and if I’m not 100% sure of a location Jenny is at hand as a back up pair of eyes. Nothing gets past the pair of us.

Now in 2025 Travis has 6k followers and all your help and support has meant that we’ve been able to enrich the lives of thousands of cats. Liberating them from often shocking situations into wonderful homes.

I’m extremely proud of what I’ve achieved but I would never have attempted to set a rescue up without Jenny’s help. I still can’t believe what a success it’s all been and long may it continue.

So, thank you Jenny for pushing me to believe things like this are actually possible and again thanks go to all of my followers for supporting me. ♥️

🥳HAPPY NEW YEAR🥳

As we head into 2025 I would like wish every one of our 6k followers a very Happy New Year!

Last year we’ve had some amazing homings. Some of which are pictured below. We’ve had some losses along the way which always hit me hard but taking into consideration the cats we’ve helped I think we’re not doing too bad.

I’d like to thank you all for supporting us by taking part in our raffles, Calendar sales and Travis Tuesday which raised an incredible £278 yesterday. Thank you to everyone that has set up standing orders to support us each month.

I’d like to mention our volunteers who help with the daily running of the rescue and go above and beyond with their support. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without them!

A huge THANK YOU to Becci, Cassie, Kim, Nicky, Rita, Sarah and Susan that help clean the pens and socialise the cats. Jacquie and Dave that do car boots to raise money for us. Maxine who designs our adoption posters and coordinates our calendars. Shannon who took the wonderful photographs for our 2025 calendar and Andy who updates our website (when I remember to give him updates). Trusted Friends Pet funeral Services Limited who support us with the difficult side of rescue work. Heath and Reach Vet who always manage to get me an appointment at short notice and put up with me adding cats onto an appointment at short notice and of course each and every one of you that supports us throughout the year.

Travis Cat Rescue was born in 2017. It’s a small, independent rescue that has gone from strength to strength and that is due to everyone that supports us.

Happy New Year everyone. Let’s hope it’s a good one! ♥️

Travis Cat Rescue - Our Story

Travis Cat Rescue is an independent shelter for cats and kittens in need.

Here at Travis, we specialise in rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing services. Sometimes bad things happen to good cats, and we are here to help put that right. We are based in Newton Longville, near Milton Keynes, and operate within a 20 mile radius.

We believe in giving every cat and kitten the chance of a happy life and a loving home. We never put a healthy cat down, and we take great care in preparing our furry charges for life after the shelter.

There are many ways that you can help us. Whether its alerting us of a cat in need, offering support, or registering to adopt, we are always delighted to hear from anyone who wants to get involved.
