♥️YES! COME ON CLEO!!!♥️
Sorry for the swear word in this video but how fantastic is this?
Little Cleo hasn’t eaten on her own for ten days. She was too weak to stand. I’ve been syringe feeding her convalescent food and water every two hours to keep her hydrated. She absolutely hated it. She started the ‘miracle meds’ on Friday evening. After just four doses this is the result. I’ve seen this drug in action once before on our Micky. At £639.90 a bottle it’s money well spent if you value the life of a cat/kitten. I understand that’s a lot of money but hopefully the price will come down eventually.
Cleo will probably need another bottle, maybe two to complete the course but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. This drug has saved thousands of cats from a nasty death.
At the moment I’m concentrating on watching her go from strength to strength and getting those back legs stronger.
FIP is hard to diagnose. Cleo’s test results were vague but some pointed roughly to FIP so we got cracking on the medication and after just 2.5 days she’s eating on her own and looking so much brighter. I’m so happy I could cry.
Have a great day everyone and thank you once again for your continued support. ♥️
♥️CLEO UPDATE♥️
Just had to post a little video of Cleo’s progress.
She started on her course of medication on Friday evening. She’s had four doses so far. The difference in her is already noticeable. She has a lot more movement in her back legs and is generally much brighter.
The cost of a small bottle is £639.90 but it’s worth every penny if it saves her life. This is the second cat I’ve had on this medication and he’s completely cured. It really is a miracle. She’ll probably need another bottle, maybe two but we’ve committed to the treatment now and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thank you all so much for your support with little Cleo’s treatment and all the other cats here. You are all absolutely amazing. We’ll keep you all updated on her progress but we are hopeful for her future. She’s just the sweetest soul.
Have a good evening everyone.♥️
♥️CLEO♥️
A lot of you have been asking how Cleo is.
She’s about the same. No improvement but she certainly hasn’t got any worse. I’m feeding her a small amount by syringe every two hours and giving her water. Last right I thought her mobility had improved but today she’s just dragging her back legs. She has movement in them but she can’t walk. It’s upsetting to watch and I really don’t hold out much hope that it will get any better.
She’s not in pain. She’s purring and enjoying a fuss but it’s about quality of life isn’t it. As soon as I have any more information I’ll let you know. This definitely is the downside of rescue work.
BACK AT THE VET
Spot the mistake on the video. I never was good with numbers! 😂
We were back at the vet yesterday with FIVE cats. They had an overnight stay ready for their operations today. No cat leaves Travis without being health checked, flea’d and wormed, fully vaccinated, chipped and neutered if they’re an acceptable weight. This is why your donations are vital to us. They keep the rescue running and enable us to get the cats and kittens here ready for homing.
Have a good day everyone! ♥️
🙏THANK YOU!🙏
Today little Carrie would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that took part in Travis Tuesday yesterday. We got a fantastic £269. That’s a fantastic amount! We did have a couple of large donations which brought the total up higher than usual. Carrie is one of Cassie’s five kittens.
All six spays went smoothly but they couldn’t find Carries uterus so they gave her a mid line spay. I’m not a fan of mid line spays but as you can see Carrie doesn’t seem phased by it and actually seems quite proud of her scar.
Thank you once again for taking part in Travis Tuesday every week. Every penny really does help and goes directly towards the care of the cats and kittens here at Travis.
Have a good day everyone and thank you once again! ♥️
🐝BUSY BEES🐝
It’s been another busy day here at Travis as Cassie and her five girls went for an overnight stay to be spayed tomorrow.
This lovely little family have been chipped and vaccinated and once they’re spayed they will be ready for homing. If you would like to meet any of them get in touch.
Have a good evening everyone! ♥️
♥️MABEL♥️
Everyone say hello to Mabel.
A lovely lady made contact with Travis because she had a cat that had set up home under a bush in her garden.
I had no room to take the cat and advised the lady to get the cat to the vet to check for a chip which she did. No chip was found but it was discovered that this little girl is very close to giving birth. There was no response to the paper collar the vet put on her.
There was no way I could allow her to have her kittens under a bush. So, it’s not ideal but I had a shuffle round to free up some space. At least now she will have a safe, warm environment to give birth.
This situation isn’t Mabel’s fault. Had she been spayed she wouldn’t have got pregnant. Had she been chipped we would have been able to get her back to her owners (not that they deserve her!).
To allow your cat to get pregnant is irresponsible enough but to allow her to stray not knowing or caring where she is when she’s heavily pregnant is on another level. This kind of thing infuriates me and it happens too often. That’s why the rescue centres are full to bursting.
If you decide to get a cat or kitten it’s a big commitment and can be expensive. Getting a cat neutered is a basic requirement of responsible ownership. Chipping is now a legal requirement. If you can’t afford to get the basics done for a cat don’t get one. Simple as that!
In the meantime Mabel will be safe here and will be able to give birth to her kittens without worrying about finding shelter to keep them and her safe.
Mini rant over! Have a good day everyone. ♥️
Just some of the gorgeous cats here at Travis Cat Rescue.
🎃HALLOWEEN DRAW🎃
Today volunteer Nicky drew the winning ticket for our fab Halloween hamper assisted by deaf Mary shouting the place down. 😂
The draw took place at 3.30 this afternoon. The cats here are fed at 4.30. All the fuss Mary is making it’s obvious she forgot to put her clock back last weekend! 😂
Apart from that the winner is …..
🙏THANK YOU🙏
🙏THANK YOU!🙏
All five cats that went in for neutering wanted to come on to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that took part in Travis Tuesday yesterday.
Having said that Wilson, as usual is stealing the limelight! He, as usual is determined not to be ignored. That’s our Wilson!! 😊
We had a few larger donations yesterday so the total received was £203. Fantastic amount. Have a good day everyone! ♥️
YOU JUDT CANT KERP A GOID WOMAN DOWN
YOU JUST CANT KEEP A GOOD WOMAN DOWN!
Nicki was here again yesterday helping clean the pens and she came armed with a circular saw she’d borrowed from a friend! 😊An odd thing to bring to a cat rescue you may think. Let me explain.
Because I have more help now with all the fab volunteers I can now get out fundraising again which means I need some strong display boards for our adoption posters. We had some spare wood left over which we hoped we could use once cut to the correct size. Unfortunately it’s too damaged/damp so I’m going to have to buy some more. The wood that is useless needs to go so Nicki put the saw to good use by sawing the wood into more manageable pieces to take to the tip.
I do admire her determination. She’ll tackle anything! Thank you Nicki and all our wonderful volunteers for the work you put in to Travis to help it run smoothly.
I’m off to B&Q this week to get some suitable wood cut to size ready for our adoption posters. Have a good day everyone! ♥️
