Eleventh Hour Rescue

Eleventh Hour Rescue A NJ 501c3 volunteer based animal rescue welcoming all breeds. www.ehrdogs.org No dog or cat deserves to die simply because they do not have a home.
(2289)

Eleventh Hour Rescue is made up of dedicated individuals who believe that innocent pets deserve love and a place to live where they are honored and cared for. We rescue dogs and cats at the "eleventh hour"--when they are scheduled to be put to death by shelters who can no longer care for them. We give the dogs and cats all the medical attention they require, a place to live, and through our adopti

on services, a second chance at a happy and fulfilled life. We are affiliated with many like-minded animal groups throughout the United States. We invite caring people to join us as volunteers and graciously accept help in the form of time, supplies and monetary contributions. Eleventh Hour Rescue is a 100% volunteer organization funded exclusively by donations.

🎉🐾 New Year’s Eve Tips for Pet Safety 🎆❤️

As we ring in the New Year, let’s keep our furry friends in mind! Fireworks can be overwhelming and scary for cats and dogs, but together we can help reduce their anxiety:

✨ Skip the Fireworks: Opt for quiet celebrations like light displays, music, or sparklers instead.
🎵 Create a Calm Space: Play soothing music or white noise to mask loud sounds.
🏠 Keep Them Indoors: Ensure pets are safe and secure in a cozy spot at home.
🐕 Comfort Items: Provide favorite toys, blankets, or even a Thundershirt for extra reassurance.
📋 Update IDs: Make sure collars and microchips are up-to-date just in case.

Let’s start the year with compassion for our four-legged friends. Together, we can make this New Year’s Eve paw-sitively stress-free! 🎊🐾

❄️ Winter is here, and your furry friends have their own seasonal needs! 🐾

🐈 Cats: Create warm nooks, combat static fur, and keep them entertained indoors with cozy spaces and bird-watching spots.

🎄 Bonus: Keep pets safe from holiday hazards like tinsel, chocolate, and poinsettias!

Another day, another plea for one of our kennel dogs who needs your help.

We have shared Cooper before. Found abandoned and malnourished by the side of the road in Georgia, Cooper’s early life was marked by neglect, evident from the scar around his neck where a collar once embedded too tightly. It is clear no one took the time to teach Cooper how to be a member of the family. Yet, despite his past hardships, Cooper's heart remains brimming full of love.

Cooper’s friendly disposition shines like a beacon. He is good with other dogs, fantastic with children, and loves human companionship more than anything. So much so, that the lack of being in a home around people is causing him to seriously deteriorate. Whether following you on a walk or chasing after a soccer ball, he is ready to be by your side, offering unwavering loyalty and affection.

At about 45lbs and between 1-2yrs old, he has learned so much already—he’s beginning to master walking on the leash, sitting patiently for attention—and shows a remarkable ability to embrace every chance to grow and love more deeply.

Yet, as our December Dog of the Month, Cooper has sadly received absolutely NO interest. This decline in his spirit while at the kennel deeply concerns us, and we are reaching out to find him a home where he can truly belong and flourish.

Cooper has become mouthy, jumpy, and anxious. No, that probably doesn’t make Cooper sound appealing, but we are being honest to illustrate how much he has declined. Cooper showed NONE of these behaviors when he first came to Eleventh Hour. He was happy and carefree. He will likely need a few weeks to a few months of decompression at this point. And probably another confident dog in the home would be helpful. He definitely needs someone who is willing to commit to teaching him what it means to be loved and that not every human will neglect him and let a collar embed itself into his neck.

Please, don’t let Cooper spend another day unnoticed. Apply to adopt or foster COOPER LIZMAN today at www.ehrdogs.org. Let’s turn Cooper’s story around and give him the loving home he deserves. The longer Cooper is at our kennel, the more and more he will deteriorate.

"Cute as a Button"—that's me! 🖤🤍

I’m Button, a petite black-and-white tuxedo girl with stunning white whiskers and adorable little paws. You’ll want to snuggle me the moment you see me—but I’ll need some time to warm up first. I’m a bit shy and scared at first, but with patience and love, I’ll be your best furever friend.

I used to hide behind my siblings, Trumpet and Truffles, but I’m learning to be brave on my own! I love playtime, am a litter box pro, and never miss dinner—it’s my favorite time of day!

If you’re ready to give me the time and trust I need to come out of my shell, I promise to fill your life with love. 💕

This week's Happy Tail spotlight shines on Tally Lonestar, our very own social media star and office sensation! Her family sent us the sweetest "pupdate" about her new adventures:

"This year, we are thankful for having Tally Lonestar in our lives. It is now just over 6 months since we got her. She is now officially part of the Barketing Team at ShowFab where both Ryan and I worked and is a very dog friendly office. She is even on the company's website with her own photo! She participated in two Instagram posts. (Check out to see the posts)

At the office, you can see her stealing chairs to sit in. If the meeting is boring, she will fall asleep in her chair. Or if there is no chair, she will force me to share the chair with her during the meeting. On the weekend, she loves to go to the dog park to run around. She played the part of the co-pilot with Zach who was playing the role of Amelia Earhart

She, Copper and Luigi finally are able to enjoy the picture window together.
Thanks for bringing Tally into our lives. - Katy, Ryan and Zachary"

A huge thank-you to Katy, Ryan, and Zachary for sharing Tally's story with us. We’re thrilled to see her thriving in her forever home! 🐾❤️

This holiday season, a merry crew of lovable pups is spreading festive cheer in hopes of finding their furever homes! Dressed in their best holiday sweaters or costumes, these pups are full of love and ready to bring joy to your family. Whether they’re waiting with puppy kisses under the mistletoe or wagging their tails with holiday excitement, they’re all hoping this winter season will be the one where they find their happily ever after! Apply for these holiday treasures at buff.ly/2BkjjA3!

1) Mack

Mack says Merry Christmas from my paws to yours! Mack is an adorable senior brindle Bulldog who has been waiting in our kennel for a home for six years. He’s an old soul, a mature gentleman, who just wants to relax, play, eat, and be loved. Yes, he’ll need to be your only pet- we know that is tough but Mack has more than enough love to fill your heart. His perfect family would be one with adults only.

2) Genesis

Genesis has two reasons to celebrate in December: Christmas and her 1-year-old birthday! Happy Birthday, Genesis, let’s get out the party hats! However, Genesis lives at our kennel, desperate for a foster or furever home after being rescued from Florida during our Hurricane Milton mission a couple of months ago. She is spunky, loves to play with both people and dogs and enjoys snuggling up for cuddle time.

3) Dodger

This holiday season, let Dodger light up your life! He's not just a good boy—he's the best boy who loves to please and is a hit with kids and other dogs alike. Whether he's getting belly rubs, frolicking in the snow, or joining in on family car rides to look at holiday lights, Dodger is all about spreading cheer.

4) Ranger

Meet Ranger, the exuberant 2 ½-year-old pup who's ready to bring some extra holiday sparkle to your home! Full of energy, Ranger loves going on winter walks, playing with other dogs, and spreading joy to everyone he meets. He is intelligent as well as house and crate-trained, making him the perfect festive companion.

5) Turtle

Turtle is donning his biggest holiday bowtie for you! Turtle is a sweet, goofy, handsome pup of 2 years who was found abandoned with his two fur siblings at a local dog park. Despite his size, he enjoys pretending he is a lap pet because he loves being close to his people. He may be a bit shy initially, but don’t let that fool you—once he bonds with you, he’ll be your loyal shadow!

6) Zoey

Zoey is surely on Santa’s nice list this year! This 5-year-old, affectionate lady was surrendered to our rescue due to no fault of her own. Zoey is a playful girl who loves other dogs and loves children of all ages. Fur Christmas, all she wants is you!

7) Big Momma

Big Momma, the ultimate Christmas gift, sitting pretty in front of the tree, ready to bring warmth and joy to your home this holiday season. This calm, sweet, and loving 4-year-old, 45 lb girl is the perfect companion for any family. She loves car rides, and her gentle nature makes her great with dogs, kids, and people alike. Fully house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained, Big Momma is the ultimate package!

😎 Brock

This festive pup has put on his best Christmas sweater, determined to impress. With his big, soulful eyes and a heart full of love, he's the perfect present for any active household. As eager to please as Santa’s helpers, Brock is incredibly treat-motivated and quick to pick up new tricks and obedience skills. While he’s still learning to manage his sleigh-full of excitement, he'd fit best with experienced dog owners who can guide his spirited personality. Brock lives at our kennel and would love a foster or furever home to share his charm with!

9) Raisin adopted

Raisin is sitting nicely on Santa's lap, whispering that all he wants for Christmas is a furever family. This sweet four-month-old pup has a heart full of holiday cheer and loves people more than anything—whether he's curled up on the couch for belly rubs or lounging in the yard enjoying the winter breeze. Raisin is the ultimate holiday companion, getting along wonderfully with both canine friends and cats.

10) Erkle adopted

Oh, what fun it is to wag on a snowy night! Erkle is a 6-month-old, 25-lb bundle of holiday joy who loves chasing and tossing balls—his happy place! He thrives on patient love and would do great in a home with another dog to show him the ropes. Ready to bring cheer and energy, Erkle is the perfect festive companion!

As the holiday magic fills the air and tails wag with joy, we wish you a Happy Christmas filled with love, laughter, and puppy cuddles. May your home be as warm as a dog’s hug and your days filled with wagging tails and joyful barks.

🎄🐾 Holiday Safety Reminder for Your Furry Friends! 🐾🎄

The holiday season is full of joy, but some of our favorite festive traditions can be dangerous for pets. Keep your furry friends safe by following these tips:
🚫 Skip the table scraps: Rich holiday foods like turkey skin, gravy, chocolate, and anything with onions can upset your pet’s stomach—or worse, make them very sick.
🌱 Watch out for dangerous plants: Beautiful holiday plants like poinsettias, mistletoe, and holly are toxic to pets. Keep them out of reach!
🍫 Chocolate & candy dangers: Sweets, especially those containing xylitol, can be extremely harmful. Store treats safely away from curious paws.
🕯️ Keep decorations pet-proof: Tinsel, ribbons, and ornaments can be choking hazards. And always supervise candles around pets!
🎁 Stress-free holiday: Loud parties and new guests can stress your pets. Make sure they have a quiet space to relax.
Let’s make the holidays a safe and happy time for everyone—furry family members included! 🐶🐱❤️

A few weeks ago we received this devastating plea for help:

“It was brought to my attention that a senior woman who feeds two cats is being threatened and bullied while feeding them. A terrible man forbid her from walking on the sidewalk in front of his home and threatened her if he caught her walking past. The cats were also kicked out of the yard they were being cared for in and now they sit on the sidewalk all day and night while taking cover under a pick up truck to stay warm together. The neighbor (whose former yard they once stayed) said she is going to place them in carriers and dump them in a park. These cats have no winter shelter and live on a sidewalk with no where to go, near people who absolutely despise them and have threatened to trap and dump them. Please can you help them??”

WE HAD TO HELP THEM…

Jack (white) and Annie (white and grey) are now warm and happy in foster care. They are sweet and loving, totally forgiving of their previous mistreatment by humans. This adorable pair are a few years old, fixed and up to date with vaccines. They find comfort in each others company and must be adopted together.

If you can give Jack and Annie the home they so deserve for the holidays, please fill out a feline application at buff.ly/4foSbNV

An Unbreakable Bond: Paris Saves Brodi’s Life THREE Times

A story of loyalty and friendship has unfolded at our rescue, one that has quite literally saved a life multiple times. You may be familiar with this story when we posted it the first time this situation happened… Brodi, a sweet but extremely skittish dog, has proven to be a significant flight risk. In fact, he got loose not once, not twice, but THREE times while in a home environment, each time putting his life in grave danger.

A loose dog faces many dangers- being hit by a car, encountering wild animals, or simply getting lost forever. Each of Brodi’s escapes sent us into a panic, knowing how dire the situation could become.

Yet, in the midst of this fear, something incredible has emerged: the unexpected life-saving bond Brodi shares with his kennel friend, Paris. Despite all efforts from his caretakers to lure him back, Brodi refused to come to anyone…. until Paris showed up. Each time Brodi went missing, Paris was brought to the area, and every time, Brodi came running straight to her, refusing to leave her side. The switch in his eyes that we saw when he spotted her each time is undeniable.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Paris has saved Brodi’s life THREE times now. Their connection is nothing short of extraordinary, a bond so deep it has become his lifeline.

Because of this unique and heartwarming friendship, we are hoping to find them a home together. While not mandatory, we truly believe their companionship is something special and would bring so much love to a forever family.

If you’re interested in adopting this remarkable duo- or giving one of them the loving home they deserve- please apply at our website:
