THE BAD NEWS.

We have 60 empty pallets. And every one of them should be filled with food.

Our costs have gone up. Just like for you, for us too. And it’s gotten a lot harder to buy truckloads of food.

THE GOOD NEWS.

Right now we have the chance to buy about $150,000 of food for about $50,000. That means we need to raise $50,000. It really is a great deal for us. Cold winter months are coming right up.

💔heartbreak - Inky’s Final Plea (to be euthanized 7/15/24): “You left me here. Twice. The first time I was really sick and almost died 😣. The shelter treated me and somehow I made it ❤️‍🩹! You came back for me then. I didn’t understand why you left me but I was just so happy you came back 🩷. But then you left me again. I don’t understand. I loved you so much. When I was sick, all I could think about was you. But you left me to die. Again. This time I will die. They have euthanized some of my friends already. I am next 🥺. What did I do wrong? I’m only a puppy. They say im a good boy. I love people and other dogs. All I wanted was to make you happy. I just wanted a family 💔. Don’t I deserve to be loved too 🥺?”

Poor sweet Ink. Abandoned to die by his owner. Twice. And he’s still a sweet and happy boy. His happiness will be cut short unless someone saves him. Can you help 🙏 ?

🩷Ink🖋️: sweet and handsome Inky needs OUT! This playful and happy 10mo boxer mix puppy has gone through so much - he was so sick when he first arrived but has fully recovered and is doing great. The Bureau of Land MISmanagement has taken more horses off the range! This time, they deliberately took four beautiful and recognizable younger individuals! Maybe so they can charge premium adoption fees?

BLM is corrupt! They prefer using public lands for the PRIVATE profit of large-scale ranchers! It’s disgusting. Please share, and contact the BLM Wyoming offices to let them hear how badly they’ve screwed up!

With a broken heart I’m sorry to tell you that I believe that Thora was removed in the bait trapping operation yesterday. I am at the range and her mother, Takoda, and father, Thor, are here, but she is nowhere to be found. I checked the east trap and there are only a few bachelors stallions milling about, but no Thora. Also missing are 2021 c**t, Tabasco, pictured here with Thora; 2019 filly, Trinity and 2021 filly, Juniper. I am not 100 percent certain about all of this, but through teary eyes this is what it looks like to me. I am so sorry 💔

Update 9:30 am: I’ve been at the range for the last two hours and I’m certain that all five youngsters, including Thora, are gone. I have corrected this to read 4 youngsters. The 2022 filly, Tempest is here.💔

Oh no… Our friend Thor:God of Thunder lost is sisfur Balou a few days ago, and it broke his heart. He joined her at the Rainbow Bridge today. We are so sorry for this huge loss to their family. 💔😭

Around 3:00 this afternoon Thor passed away peacefully in his bed. Needless to say we are heartbroken. He couldn't face life without Balou.
I have no other words at this time...please understand. I know you loved him too, I am so sorry.

One year ago, my first baby left this world. It has been a difficult year on many levels, and his calm presence has been sorely missed. Mama loves you, Maxxy! And I miss you every day.

Some of you might remember last year when we shared information about the US Bureau of Land Management’s intent to remove some wild horses from a herd in Wyoming. The BLM ignored all the public feed back and set up traps. This past week, the traps were finally “successful” and four horses were removed: a 2-year-old, a 1-year-old, and two UNWEANED foals. These four were left in an outdoor pen overnight, completely unsupervised and with no way for the foals to get food. In the morning, the 1-year-old was found dead from a head injury.

Sweet Kat Ballou is gone. Babies who need their mothers have been stolen away. BLM is incompetent and outright CRUEL when it comes to managing these national treasures. If you’re in the US, please call the BLM or your members of Congress! Complain as loud as you can!

I went to McCullough Peaks this morning hoping that I might find the horses to see who had been removed. I thought they'd still be hiding, but when I arrived, the horses were all gathered around the trap site, and do you know what I saw? I saw young mothers without their babies. I saw beautiful Keota without her Kat Ballou. Kat was just over one year old and was the only offspring of Keota. I saw Sage, without her daughter, Sky Dancer, who was just four months old, born at the end of September. What was most heartbreaking was to see the lovely buckskin mare, Bonnie, missing her two youngest sons, 2-year-old Brumby, and her newest c**t, Bandero, who was just 5 months old.

As I was wiping the tears from my eyes, I got a text from my friend, Carol. Carol forwarded me information about the death of dear Kat Ballou. As many of you already know, Kat and the other youngsters that were removed were left by the BLM in a pen overnight and little Kat was found dead the next morning. The report said she died from head trauma, likely caused from running into a post in the corral as she was trying to escape. I ask you, what kind of a person would leave four terrified wild babies, who only know the love of their mother and their family, alone in a corral overnight? And why would you take such young foals away from their mothers who they depend on? Treating these babies like this is so wrong.

In my opinion, this type of uncaring, negligent behavior towards our wild horses must stop. Chris Kman at Chasing Horses Wild Horse Advocates has written a blog about the McCullough Peaks bait trapping which gives us several ways we can help to bring attention to this roundup.
