Happy Cinco de Mayo! Tomorrow I pick up 40 more lavender plants. In a few weeks I get 100 more. I tend to sleep much better in lavender season! Hurting for a good reason is restorative!

It’s a bit early to tell, but it seems Munstead is the winner of the “who best survives the winter?” contest. We have two rows of it - 1 about 70 plants and one about 50. I ordered 15 and only had to use 5 to replace ones we lost! So I tucked the remaining 11 in the “short” row. One we go!

When you don’t use w**d-killing chemicals on your lavender farm, you get lots of w**ds! But what we call a w**d is nutrition for a pollinator. Dandelions give sustenance to bees and other critters until more flowers begin to bloom. So- hurray for dandelions , of which we have plenty!

These warmer days are making me eager to get planting! But it’s not safe until late April and I can’t get my lavender replacements yet anyway. So I’ll just look at pictures from previous seasons and talk myself into doing tidying and w**ding. But it won’t be long now!
