🐰⚠️ GI Stasis in Rabbits: What Every Owner Should Know ⚠️🐰

GI (gastrointestinal) stasis is one of the most common—and most dangerous—health emergencies for rabbits. It happens when a rabbit’s digestive system slows down or stops moving altogether.

🚨 Why it’s serious:

Gas and toxins build up, causing pain and loss of appetite.

Rabbits can quickly become dehydrated and weak.

Without fast treatment, GI stasis can be fatal.

🔎 Signs to watch for:

Not eating or drinking

Very small or no droppings in the litter box

Lethargy, hiding, or hunched posture

Loud stomach gurgles—or no gut sounds at all

💡 What to do:
If you suspect GI stasis, this is an emergency. Do not wait it out—contact your veterinarian right away.

✅ Prevention tips:

Feed unlimited hay to keep the gut moving

Provide fresh water at all times

Limit treats and high-sugar foods

Encourage daily exercise and safe chewing

💙 A healthy diet, enrichment, and quick action at the first signs can make all the difference for your bunny’s health.

🐹🐭Rodent Care 101: Happy, Healthy Little Friends! 🐭🐹

Thinking about adding a guinea pig, hamster, or other small rodent to your family? These tiny companions have big needs for their health and happiness:

🌿 Diet Matters

🐹Guinea pigs need unlimited hay, fresh veggies, and vitamin C daily.

🐹Hamsters thrive on quality pellets and the occasional fresh food treat (avoid sugary snacks).

🏡 Housing & Enrichment

Spacious cages = happy pets! Tiny critters need room to run, burrow, and explore.

Add hideouts, tunnels, and chew toys to keep teeth healthy and boredom away.

💧 Clean & Comfortable

Fresh water every day.

Spot-clean daily and fully clean bedding weekly to prevent odors and illness.

🩺 Veterinary Care

Just like cats and dogs, rodents benefit from regular vet checkups.

Watch for changes in eating, activity, or breathing—they can hide illness until it’s serious.
