🐶💖 Patient Spotlight: Lucy!
Say hello to sweet Lucy, who melted everyone’s heart at the clinic today with those big, soulful eyes and her signature royal fluff 👑✨

Whether she’s here for a routine checkup or just stopping by to show off her fabulous ears, Lucy reminds us why we love what we do — caring for pets who are as kind as they are cute!

🧠 Did you know… a dog’s nose print is as unique as a human fingerprint?
That’s right — the patterns of ridges and creases on your pup’s nose are completely one-of-a-kind. In fact, some organizations have even explored using nose prints for dog ID purposes!

🐶 It's nature’s original "snout signature," and no two are the same — even among siblings from the same litter.

So next time your dog smears their nose across your window, just remember: that smudge is basically priceless art. 🖼️🐾

Got a great nose boop photo? Drop it in the comments — we’re mildly obsessed. 👇

🌙 Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU): The Leading Cause of Blindness in Horses 🐴

Did you know that Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU)—often called Moon Blindness—is the #1 cause of blindness in horses worldwide?

Here, Dr. Porter and Michela are performing an enucleation on sweet Willow, who had been struggling with chronic pain from Equine Recurrent Uveitis.

👁️ Enucleation is the surgical removal of the eye and is sometimes the most compassionate option when the eye is no longer functional and causing ongoing discomfort. While it may sound dramatic, most horses adjust incredibly well and often experience immediate relief from chronic pain.

🔍 What is it?
ERU is an autoimmune condition where the body attacks the eye, leading to painful inflammation. It tends to come in cycles—flare-ups followed by periods of apparent calm—until permanent damage occurs.

🚩 Signs to Watch For:

Squinting or tearing

Cloudy or red eyes

Sensitivity to light

Shrinking of the eyeball over time

Behavioral changes (head shyness, reluctance to be ridden)

💡 Early diagnosis and consistent management can help reduce flare-ups and protect vision.

📆 If your horse has had an eye issue—even once—it’s worth having us take a look. We’re here to help protect those beautiful eyes.

👁️‍🗨️ Prevention. Monitoring. Support.
Call us to schedule an eye exam or chat about treatment options for managing ERU.

We’re wishing Willow a smooth and comfortable recovery! 💙🐴

🐶 Myth-Busting Monday
🐾 MYTH: "My pet seems totally fine — they don’t need a vet visit."
✅ FACT: Pets are masters at hiding pain, discomfort, and early signs of illness. By the time you notice something's wrong, a minor issue may have become a major one.

🩺 That’s why annual wellness exams are so important — even for healthy-looking pets! They help us:
✔️ Catch hidden dental disease
✔️ Monitor weight & joint health
✔️ Detect early signs of illness (before it gets serious or expensive!)
✔️ Keep vaccines and preventatives up-to-date

🐶🐱 Your furry friend may not look sick, but routine checkups give us a chance to keep them happy, healthy, and snuggly for years to come. Prevention is powerful — and peace of mind? Priceless. 💙

📞 Call or text us at (609) 261-7280 to schedule your pet’s next visit.

🐴✨ This July 4th, while we’re lighting up the sky, let’s give a special shoutout to the unsung animal heroes who helped America win its independence!

Picture this: Brave horses charging through mud and forests, carrying soldiers and racing messages between camps. 🐎💨 Loyal dogs keeping watch through the night—ears up, tails wagging—ready to sound the alarm if trouble came near. 🐕‍🦺⚡ And oxen were essential for transportation pulling cannons, carts, and wagons, as well as carrying soldiers and supplies.📜

From the Revolutionary War to your backyard, animals have always had our backs. Today, our pets may not be galloping into battle, but they’re still our daily heroes—offering love, comfort, and plenty of reasons to smile. 🐾❤️

So as you celebrate with fireworks, family, and food, toss your furry (or feathered) friend an extra treat and remember: America’s story wouldn’t be the same without animals by our side!

Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Rancocas Vet! 🎆🐾

😹 Happy International Joke Day! 😹

We figured the best way to celebrate is with a few of our favorite pet jokes—because who doesn’t need a laugh today? Ready? Here we go:

Q: Why did the dog sit in the shade?
A: Because he didn’t want to be a hot dog! 🌭🐶

Q: What do you call a pile of kittens?
A: A meow-tain! 🐱⛰️

Q: Why did the puppy bring a pencil to the vet?
A: In case he had to draw blood! ✏️🐶

Q: What do you call a dog magician?
A: A labracadabrador! 🎩🐾

Q: Why don’t cats play poker in the jungle?
A: Too many cheetahs! 🐱🐆

Q: Why do fish always know how much they weigh?
A: Because they have their own scales! 🐟⚖️

Q: What do you call a dog that designs buildings?
A: A bark-itect! 🏗️🐾

Got a favorite pet joke? Share it in the comments—we could always use more giggles around here!

🎆💥 Fireworks season is almost here—which means big fun for us, but usually not-so-much for our pets! If your dog or cat gets anxious when the skies light up, now’s the time to get ready. 🐾💙

Signs of stress can look like hiding, shaking, drooling, or even trying to make a break for it. 😬🐶🐱 The good news? There’s help! Medications like trazodone and gabapentin can make a huge difference for pets dealing with noise anxiety. But—here’s the catch—you can’t wait until the last minute! ⏰

TODAY is the day to call us so we can talk about the best options and get your furry friend set for a calmer July 4th. We’ll walk you through everything and make sure your pet’s ready before the first firework pops. 🎇

Got questions about anxiety meds, safe spaces, or calming tricks? We’re just a phone call away! Let’s make this summer less scary (and way more chill) for your four-legged family. 🐾💤

🦴💪 Tough Toys for Tough Play! 💪🦴

Looking for a toy that can keep up with your super-chewer? We’ve got you covered! Check out our shelves for Tuffy and Mighty Dog toys—designed for dogs who play hard and love a good challenge.

Why do we love them?
🐾 Tuffy Toys: These colorful characters aren’t just cute—they’re made with multiple layers and reinforced seams to stand up to hours of tug, toss, and fetch. (Even our staff pups are STILL trying to find the weak spot… no luck yet!)
🐶 Mighty Dog Toys: Built for durability, these toys are soft on the outside but tough on the inside. They’re perfect for dogs who want to snuggle and wrestle their toys—sometimes at the same time!

Whether your dog is a gentle nibbler or a toy-destroying tornado, there’s a Tuffy or Mighty Dog toy waiting for them here at the clinic. Ask us for a recommendation next time you stop by—we love sending pets home with new favorites!

Got a photo of your pup in action with a Tuffy or Mighty Dog toy? Share it below! We never get tired of seeing those happy, wagging tails. 🐕
