At Happy Tails Pet Supplies we understand that "the best" food for your pet is not just about how the label reads anymore, but also about sourcing, manufacturing processes, cost, convenience, choosing TYPE OF FOOD (kibble-dry/canned/freeze-dried/frozen), etc.

We have all of those bases covered, and then some. Still, at times, we feel it is important to be reminded that you don't have to do ALL OF ONE OR THE OTHER TYPE OF FOOD. For example, most of us pet owners feed kibble, but often it enhances the bowl if you add a little of another type to that same meal OR feed one type at breakfast and another at dinner.

Other than your pet enjoying the variety of flavor, they benefit from different minerals, probiotics, moisture, etc. Just a pinch of one of the other TYPES OF FOOD to a kibble diet benefits your pet in so many ways...even if it is given as a treat throughout the day!

Tips to consider...

-Treats are great for training or just to show some love to your pet. Often, they love variety in flavor, texture and remember...many pets enjoy with their nose so consider treating more often with smaller sizes (whether you break them or buy the "right size".

-Picking the best chew is done by considering the hardness, safest size, and odds of durability based on how your pet chews and how long they are allowed to chew. Let us work with you to help talk you through the options...as there are dozens at Happy Tails Pet Supplies!

-Toys...know that the true answer for how long a toy will last your pet is much like the considerations for picking a CHEW above. It often is recommended to watch your pet the first 15-30 minutes when given a new toy/chew and ensure they are doing ok with what you have chosen for them. Although we have great quality toys to choose from, we often say unless it is a bowling ball, you should not consider any toy indestructible.

Day 3 brings us to sharing some very good fresh food and freeze-dried options along with the "tip/Info" for the day.

My Perfect Pet is made with human-grade, gently cooked meat blended with raw fruits and vegetables. Food is pre-portioned into individually wrapped bars. For those of you that have heard of or like Farmers Dog...stop in and check out how well it stacks up...you will be happy. Plus, they offer hardcopy, easy to follow instructions of what flavors to feed "if" your pet ever has any special diet needs (i.e. pancreatitis, etc.).

Grandma Lucy's freeze-dried pet food promises no "feed" or "animal" grade ingredients. Only the GOOD STUFF you could find at your local farmer's market. Can feed as a meal or a topper from our convenient 1 # packages, but we can order larger if you would like. Perfect time to try it out during a sale!

Helpful Info/Tip of the day:

GENTLY COOKED diets are often helpful for pets with sensitive tummies as they can help them absorb more nutrients. This food is minimally processed and retains more natural flavor, which can make meal time more enjoyable for your pet. Is a convenient option for pet owners that want the benefits of fresh food, but don't have the time, etc.

FREEZE-DRIED diets offer high nutritional value due to preserved vitamins and enzymes from the gentle drying process, improved digestibility, a longer shelf life, convenience for storage and travel, enhanced taste and aroma for pets, and often minimal processing with fewer additives compared to some other traditional pet food.

The Fromm special includes their NEW WHITEFISH CLASSIC flavor. It is a very digestible and tasty protein with a variety of grains. It is Omega-rich to support healthy skin and coat.

Check out our Farmina (N&D) food on sale. All of their protein sources consume GMO-free diets and are raised without antibiotics and hormones. Many of their flavors have 90% or more of the protein coming from animal sources.

The tip for the day is "Rotational Diet/Feeding". This can help your pet have a more balanced diet...help avoid food intolerance issues...help your pet better enjoy their meals throughout the year!

A Great Way To Feed Your Pet For Optimal Health...using ANY OF OUR GREAT BRANDS!

At Happy Tails Pet Supplies we love to share helpful information for you to consider. As we turned the page on a new year, many of you welcomed a new furry kid into your home. Along with that came an increase in questions about "what to feed my pet?" In short, we would love to help you pick the right food for your new puppy/kitten OR adult pet. Regardless of brand, we like to promote the benefits of a rotational diet. Take a quick read of our blog for helpful information on optimal feeding recommendations for the life of your pet.
