Mushroom Myths Debunked- Dog Edition

Myth 1:
It’s easy to tell which wild mushrooms are poisonous.

Certain wild, toxic mushrooms mimic other safe to eat mushrooms such as the false morel. This mushroom looks almost identical to a true morel which is safe for dogs and humans, when properly prepared. It’s important to be aware of your surroundings when out with your dog. It’s our job to keep them safe!

Myth 2:
All mushrooms are toxic for dogs.

This is not true! There are many mushrooms that are safe and extremely important for your dog’s overall health and wellness. These dog-safe mushrooms include Chaga, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Shiitake and Turkey Tail to name a few.

Myth 3:
Mushrooms are mainly water and don’t provide much nutritional value.
