Our sweet and quirky Violet has a pending adoption, and I couldn’t be happier.

This mare has pulled my heart strings in a different way than the others. She wasn’t deathly ill or skinny when I got her, actually quite the opposite.

But she had whip marks all over her back end and body and had no interest when being walked through the auction ring.

Anyone who knows me, knows mares are my weakness. Especially strong willed ones.

This mare has kept me up at night, she has confused me to the core. She is a complete saint and yet so naughty. You can ask 5 different people about her and get 5 different versions of what kind of horse she is. To be honest, ive never met a horse like her before.

I was fully prepared to keep her because meet and greets had not been going well. Violet doesn’t like new, she likes me. She likes my husband, she likes my son. She loves her people (and we have become her people) so much so that when new people have come to meet her she acts out and I swear makes herself unadoptable. This mare is loyal to her core. I knew it after one meet and greet she continuously placed herself between ME and the potential adopter (who by the way was so sweet and kind and would have loved her)
I knew right then and there Violet will be a one owner horse and it’s gonna take some time to find that person cause Violet doesn’t show well. Fast forward to our family taking a much need vacation…. We hire a farm sitter.. farm sitter spends a week taking care of the horses…. Coming in the morning and evenings. Farm sitter falls in love with Violet!!

YAY VIOLET!!! honestly, this is the only way it was going to happen because a 15 min meet and greet with Violet was never gonna be enough.

The moral of this story and something I have never thought of before…..

When considering a rescue…… please consider multiple visits to the horse before ruling them out. Please consider staying awhile before ruling them out.
I truly believe Violet would not be getting adopted if this hadn’t happened because she doesn’t meet and greet well at all. And I’m sure many horses are like her.

These horses go through so much.

I am going to try this again…. And hopefully explain it better.

✨NELLY- officially up for adoption!

Nelly is 11 years old, 14hh. She has been with FVR and working towards being adoptable for nearly a year.

I wouldn’t say she was unhandled, but she had a lot to work through to get her to the girl she is now.

Nelly will:

W/T and working on nice canter
Tack up
Groom
Stand for the farrier
Load a trailer
Work off leg pressure

She has no buck, no rear, no bite, no kick, no funny business. She’s been restarted slow and right and is ready for her forever home.

The ✨MARE SAVER✨ program applied a grant to Nelly that has made her adoption lower, but the stipulation is her AQHA papers and transfer is held for ONE YEAR by FVR. (Papers could be released sooner if adopter gets to work right away. The goal is making sure the adopter is investing in Nelly. Not just looking for a broodmare)

To receive the lower adoption fee- we hold the papers for one year and we ask the family to take Nelly in a direction of their choosing.

This adoption will be based on the right fit, not just whoever applies. The fee is negotiable for the right family.

We would love to see Nelly go to a rodeo kid/teen who has an interest in training/finishing their own horse- and would like to make Nelly their next partner. And FVR would like to be there for the ride. Meaning, FVR would love to consider helping sponsor said rider and Nelly from time to time as they progress together.

After everything and the stipulations- her adoption fee lands at $3500.

I am sorry for the total confusion on her ad.

If you’d like to apply, please reach out.

UTD on dental, coggins, vaccines, feet and all the things!

I will be redoing Nellys ad, cause apparently it didn’t
Make sense.

We are finally getting Nelly ready to adopt! I have been waiting for this day!!!

OUR FIRST ✨MARE SAVER✨ PROSPECT is coming available at the end of December!!

This is our first papered AQHA discarded broodmare.

As I stumbled on her ad on a k!ll pen site all the comments of people discussing using her as a recip mare or commenting on her papers and getting her for their breeding program…. (Which clearly hadn’t worked out for her thus far) not a single soul seemed to consider her well-being after she was no longer useful to breed- and in that moment our Mare Saver program was started.

It has taken us almost a year to get to this moment, but there is finally a light at the end of the tunnel.

We know there is someone out there for this girl, her full ad will be coming in the next few weeks.

She is always going to be a little timid and take a little time to warm up, and we will be very picky where she goes, but I know her forever person is out there and I can’t wait for the final chapter of her story!

Nelly’s adoption fee will be higher end, but she does have a grant of $1500 that can be applied for! Our ideal goal is to place Nelly with a rodeo family and an ranchy kid who can put the time and fine tune Nelly!

🩷💜BLACK FRIDAY ADOPTION SPECIAL💜🩷

✨Must be adopted together ✨

Violet (Grey)
13 years old
14hh- every bit wide as she is tall. Finished 45 days of refresher training. No funny business under saddle. Prefers a nice walk and trot, would make a nice sturdy trail horse. Came from Navajo Nation. Was excellent for the farrier, loads the trailer perfect, bathes great, loves attention.

Her vice- she has some trauma with the whip. If you avidly whip your horses, she will not be the horse for you. It takes her a minute to warm up. She js a protector, if she bonds to you, she will protect you. This is not a horse that will be ok being passed around from person to person, she needs a gentle soul (probably a woman) who will keep her for the rest of her life and build the bond with her. I can tell you with 💯 surety, she will be someone’s heart horse. She will give you 110%, if you can bust through that protective wall she has up. She has already started to claim me as her person (and my actual mare isn’t loving that 😂)

UTD on everything and negative coggins

Salty (Bay)
18 yrs old
13hh ish- came off a kids lesson program they said. We haven’t seen a single thing from this mare we didn’t like. Easy to catch, loads up, good. My 2 yr old can walk her around, walk up to her in the pasture for kisses. She will wait til he has completely moved away from her before she will even move a single step any direction. Her mouth was a mess when she came to us and have been able to clean it up some, but she will require soft grain. She is doing great with hay and grain! We have seen her rode by kids, she did just fine, even with her mouth hurting and honestly in horrible body condition. We are hoping to get some better videos soon! She’s good with her feet, she does pull them a way just a little, but it’s not a kick- it’s almost like it just takes a few secs to get her weight situated. You can literally hold her foot with one hand while she’s doing it. I really like this mare, she’s easy going. She is quick, she likes to trot everywhere she goes 😂. She’s a happy girl, bottom of the pecking order, even the donkey bosses her around. Nothing bothers her.

Application and contract required. To help expedite the process, when applying please submit pictures of pasture and shelter.

Adoption fee is $3500.

This is for BOTH

Priority given to a home willing to adopt both.

If we cannot find them a home together

Salty is $1600
Violet is $2500

(I need better pictures of Salty, she has gained quite a bit of weight. This offer is good til Dec 1)

I am 🩷LOVING 🩷 the fact that Salty is finally gaining weight pretty continuously now. I feel like we can start putting some feelers out for her.

She came from a kids lesson program supposedly.

She is gonna be around 13hh. She is 18 yrs old (dentist aged)

We saw her rode by a little girl who was actually being pretty rough and mean, and she did what was being asked even though she was skin and bones.

Her mouth was a mess too. Her teeth have been cleaned up, but she will always require a softer grain. She’s doing great on hay and grain!

My 2 year old can walk out to the pasture and give her kisses 💋. She’ll lean down so he can kiss her nose. She’s low on pecking order, comes running when you call her.

We have gone back and forth with adopting her ourselves for our son. And honestly, if the PERFECT home doesn’t come up, we may still.

I am hoping to get Salty over to a friends house soon where we can get some kids on there to showcase what she knows! Pictures and videos hopefully coming soon!

Salty is the bay pictured below.

Violet and Salty came together and I would love to find them a home together!

Would do a Black Friday special to a APPROVED HOME (contract STILL required) both horses for $3500.

Both ride! Both are UTD on everything, both are GOOD HORSES. Violet needs an experienced horse person, but I can promise you, if you will put the effort into her, you will have yourself a very loyal mare who will give you her heart.

Saltys adoption fee is $1600
Violets adoption fee is $2500

We are being tagged every single day in all the horrible posts of these horses. 😩

I wish I had unlimited hours in the day and unlimited funds.

You guys are really making me feel like it’s time to jump back in full force.

Not sure if you remember Nelly, but we have had to change directions a couple times with this mare and this week she took a turn for the good. It is like all the sudden her nerves calmed and she clicked with the trainer! She came back home to me and I decided to actually keep her in the rescue, with the notion she was only a broodmare for a reason, and it’s ok if she lived her days out with me. Something told me to try again, so we did. I am so happy right now!!

This girl has an AMAZING set of foundation papers. She won’t be the kid horse I originally hoped, but she will have some skills and value to someone and that gives her a fighting chance in life!

We have had zero applications on Violet. Lots of people saying they were gonna apply, but nobody actually has. 😞

🩷💜 VIOLET 💜🩷

Ready for her forever home!
Violet just finished 45 days of refresher training!

Violet is 13 years old and stands right around 14hh. Do not let her height scare you, this girl is thickkkkk and stout. She can carry your husband just fine.

Violet W/T/C (although it takes some work to get that canter, she prefers to mosey on)

Violet loads and unloads a trailer great, stands for the farrier and bathes great too!

She loves to be loved on and you won’t find a sweeter mare.
Violet is current on teeth, feet, vaccines and has a negative coggins.

Violet is sensitive, and requires a softer rider. She will take a correction politely, if you are polite in your correction delivery. If you are an avid whip user, Violet is NOT the horse for you.

She is the epitome of “get what you give”

We believe she is best suited for an intermediate rider.

Located in Lebanon, MO

You guys, Violet is doing so awesome in training! She is going to make someone an awesome horse!

She has a great stop and back up! And working on picking up the canter. She’s had no funny business under saddle. Ugh, and she’s beautiful too!

Available for adoption ♥️

It’s not perfect, still working through the bit. Trainer says Violet has had no buck, no rear, no bite, no desire to run off with you. She just needs some tuning and she will make someone a nice horse. Violet is 13 yrs old, gonna stand around 14hh. She is as wide as she is tall, stocky and solid.

Was great for the farrier, loads a trailer perfectly, loves attention. Can be a little bit of a bo**er to catch, but can be done with treats or grain.

Will be finishing out 60 days- available November 1st.

UTD on teeth, feet, vaccines, dewormer.

Adoption fee $2500 ($500 off to previous adopters of FVR)

Contract and application required

Let’s talk about VIOLET 🥰

Her training is coming along well.

What we know….
She is approximately 13 yrs old
She came from Navajo Nation (her brand)
She does ride
She is so sweet

What we suspect….

Someone once upon a time was not nice, they were forceful and aggressive and maybe…. Used a whip too harshly. (Thinking maybe those marks on her back and butt are whip marks) so she comes off defensive (for now) but as soon as she knows you’re not there to hurt her, she softens up.

Trainer has been able to ride her with little fuss. We can’t wait to see her progress.

She will for sure need a non aggressive rider- someone soft, but also will not allow her to walk all over them.

We know her person is out there! Will be available for adoption in November

🚨 🚨🚨🚨

If there is anyone evacuating Florida and heading to MO, (I know it’s far) but we can comfortably house 3 horses in our quarantine dry lot. It’s not the Hilton by any means, but there’s a small shelter, space, we have hay and water.
Also a campground right across the street for hookups or even small cabins to rent. Free of charge for the horses.

Message me if you need it. Can only take up to 3, otherwise it starts to get crowded.
