NELLY
Not sure if you remember Nelly, but we have had to change directions a couple times with this mare and this week she took a turn for the good. It is like all the sudden her nerves calmed and she clicked with the trainer! She came back home to me and I decided to actually keep her in the rescue, with the notion she was only a broodmare for a reason, and it’s ok if she lived her days out with me. Something told me to try again, so we did. I am so happy right now!!
This girl has an AMAZING set of foundation papers. She won’t be the kid horse I originally hoped, but she will have some skills and value to someone and that gives her a fighting chance in life!
VIOLET
It’s not perfect, still working through the bit. Trainer says Violet has had no buck, no rear, no bite, no desire to run off with you. She just needs some tuning and she will make someone a nice horse. Violet is 13 yrs old, gonna stand around 14hh. She is as wide as she is tall, stocky and solid.
Was great for the farrier, loads a trailer perfectly, loves attention. Can be a little bit of a booger to catch, but can be done with treats or grain.
Will be finishing out 60 days- available November 1st.
UTD on teeth, feet, vaccines, dewormer.
Adoption fee $2500 ($500 off to previous adopters of FVR)
Contract and application required
8E Rescue Ranch is fostering Sage and they did their evaluations today…..
It went as good as it looks 🫶.
♥️What we know-
Sage is gonna be around 20 yrs old
15.2hh
And gaining her weight back beautifully!!
It is believed after spending time with her and evaluating her that she was most likely a lesson horse. She is gentle to handle and does lead lines and does ride! (Will post videos in the comments)
She will stand at the mounting block and honestly, she’s just an all around sweet mare.
♥️ What does Sages forever home look like?
A home where she will be fed a good hay/grass with senior grain.
A home that can continue her previcox (we will send a couple months worth with her)
A home with GENTLE riders- she has a lot of life left and will take care of your kids, but cowboying and rough riding her is not gonna work.
She has done her time and it appears she was tossed away when she couldn’t really be rode hard anymore.
But if you want a horse for the kids and small adults to be safe on, learn horsemanship, and a horse who enjoys people, SAGE IS YOUR GIRL.
She has a couple weeks left here at FVR, but if you believe you could offer Sage a forever home, please reach out!
🟦 APPLICATION AND CONTRACT REQUIRED 🟦
There is a delicate balance, when we go to auctions- as rescues, we never want to be kicked out- so sometimes we have to “play the game” but when this gelding came through- we had been watching him. He has a disgusting infected sore on his back, I couldn’t believe they tacked him up (actually yes I can) and as they were running him through the sale- I realized how different the tack made him look. He looked “ok” the tack was hiding the bones and the wound. Not to mention, how painful it must have been to have that tack rubbing against his sore. In a moment of impulse, we yelled to take the tack off of him. It wasn’t fair, it wasn’t fair to him and wasn’t fair to people potentially looking to purchase him (think internet buyers) cause he was being completely misrepresented. Nobody bid anymore after the tack came off. We were able to get him, and I am so thankful we did. He still has braids and hair dye from being rode in parades and being “such a good boy” he really is a good boy, and we will show him that we know he is a good boy, cause THIS isn’t showing love. Thank you Golden West Rescue for capturing this moment for us. #communitysupport #giveback #savehorses #nonprofit #animalwelfare #animalrescue
💥 POTENTIAL BARREL/POLE HORSE💥
Cheyenne is working through some of her issues (trust mostly) and she got to go to the arena last week. Our trainer says she is a very forward moving girl. She wants to go 💨 💨
Which is cool, cause we usually get the more whoa than go horses, so to see one who wants to go is exciting!
Cheyenne is 12yrs old and an absolute love bug. Somebody at one point wasn’t nice to her, so she does tend to have a little trust issues, but she works through them easily when you show her kindness and consistency. She will be a one owner horse, and she will be the most loyal horse you’ll ever have.
Application is open for her, adoption fee and date are not set yet.
