😍STANDING AT STUD - SD WAY SMART😍

TGCA GRADED TRADITIONAL COB STALLION

PSSM/ FIS CLEAR

14hh Walter is a superb example of his breed and type with excellent conformation, hair, bone and with an attractive head. This is reflected in his TGCA grading results where he was Champion Traditional stallion in March 2024.

As well as his good looks, Walter has an exceptional temperament and is adored by all who meet him! He is a true gentleman and easy to do in all respects for everyone from toddlers to granny's making him a true family horse.

In limited outings for his first season in 2024 Walter took Champion at the TOYS 2024 Quest Ridden final as well as winning the Novice Cob and then Champion, 2nd and Reserve Champion for Small Stallion Ridden and 2nd and Reserve Champion In Hand. In the same season he was also Champion Traditional stallion at his TGCA grading, won at Royal Cheshire and also at his first time competing dressage with his fantastic paces. A true allrounder, Walter has also hunted, driven, jumped and done pleasure and beach rides - never in anything more than a loose ring snaffle.

A truly outstanding cob stallion who has produced an impressive first crop of foals, inheriting his breed qualities and exceptional temperament.

Stud fee £450 fresh/chilled.

🌟 Natural Cover vs. Artificial Insemination: What's the Difference? 🌟

Here's a quick breakdown of Natural Cover 🐴 vs. Artificial Insemination (AI) 💉

🐴 Natural Cover
✅ Simpler & less technical
✅ Required for some studbooks (e.g., Thoroughbreds)
✅ Can work better for mares that are trickier to catch due to frequency of covering
✅ Some stallions will run with their mares for minimal intervention
❌ Much higher risk of injury & disease compared to AI
❌ Choice is limited by location
💷 Costs involved: Pre-breeding tests (EIA, EVA, CEM), transport to and from the stallion, mare keep, stud fee, grooms fees, vet fees (scanning, drugs, post covering).

💉 Artificial Insemination (AI)
✅ Safer for both stallion & mare
✅ Access top stallions worldwide 🌍
✅ Efficient: one collection = many mares!
✅ Frozen semen = genetic preservation
✅ Can be done without moving the mare
❌ Technical expertise required
❌ Not allowed by all breed registries
💷 Costs involved (for breeding at home with shipped semen): Vet fees (scanning, drugs, insemination and post insemination), stud fee, collection fee, postage.

2020 16.1hh KWPN Diamant de Semilly x Burggraaf

Eddie is an exceptional young showjumping prospect absolutely bred for the top of sport. A sporty, compact model and a great example of the modern athletic blood type. Very correct with great limbs and an attractive head. On top of all this, a beautiful temperament and proving himself to be extremely trainable as well as talented.

Direct from the world renowned and prolific producer Diamant de Semilly, one of the best stallions to ever come out of France. In 2016, he topped the WBFSH Sire Rankings for the second successive year, cementing his position as the best jumping sire in the world. Diamant is a powerful stallion with a strong back, scope, great balance, wonderful canter, suppleness, uncommon ease and super willingness, coupled with a rideability that he passes on to his offspring. Eddie comes from a proven performance damline combining the blood of the exceptional 1.60m Thoroughbred stallion French Buffet xx and the power of prolific top performance producer Burggraaf. Ever been confused by some of the letters and terms used on stallion adverts? Here's a quick glossary for you!

Live/Natural Cover - The old fashioned way. Some stallions are available for breeding with this method but many aren't due to the risks involved.

Fresh/Chilled - Used to describe semen that has been collected from the stallion with the intention of being artificially inseminated into the mare. 'Fresh' is usually minimally processed and put in the mare at an absolute maximum of 2 hours - we aim to do it in under 20 minutes for on-site mares. 'Chilled' describes semen that has been processed and packaged in a cooled box for overnight shipping. Best in the mare within 24 hours.

Stud Fee - The amount you pay to agree to breed one stallion to one mare.

Collection Fee - The cost of having semen collected off of a stallion to have it sent to you. We include collection fees in our livery for all visiting mares.

AI - The art of manually pushing semen through a catheter into a mare's uterus.

LFG - Live Foal Guarantee. Usually means the stud fee covers a live foal at birth for a minimum of 24 or 48 hours, depending on the contract. If this isn't fulfilled you would usually get a free return the following season.

NFNF - No Foal No Fee. If the mare isn't pregnant you either don't pay the stud fee or you get it refunded at the end of the season (usually after October 1st). This can be with or without a deposit depending on the contract.

NFFR - No Foal Free Return. If the mare is not in foal by 1st October, you can use the stallion again on the same mare the following year without paying another stud fee. Some stallion owners will allow you to use a different mare for the return at their discretion. Always best to ask!

Caring for Your Pregnant Mare 🐴💖

Pregnancy is an exciting time, and ensuring your mare is well cared for is key to a successful outcome for both her and her foal. Here are some essential tips to help you navigate her pregnancy journey:

1. Veterinary Care 🩺
Once a heartbeat has been confirmed at around 28 days there isn't usually a need for any further scans unless an issue is suspected.
Vaccinations should be kept up to date with a booster being given in the last couple of months of pregnancy so that antibodies can be transferred to the foal through the mare's colostrum. It is also highly recommended to vaccinate your mare against EHV in months 5, 7 and 9. Rotavirus vaccinations are given at months 8, 9 and 10 but this is more prevalent where foals are kept together in large numbers.
Similarly, worming and faecal egg counts should be kept up to date but make sure that any wormer you use is safe for pregnant mares. A wormer should be given in the last couple of weeks of pregnancy as the mare is the main source of worms to the foal.
Please don't forget the feet and teeth as well which should be kept up to date!

2. Nutrition 🥕🌾
Provide a forage rich balanced diet whilst avoiding overfeeding as this can lead to its own complications for the mare. It's not uncommon for mares to drop weight in the last 3 months of pregnancy as the foal's growth accelerates and so this would be the time to add a stud mix or balancer to accommodate her increased calorie needs. Ensure she has access to fresh, clean water at all times.

3. Exercise and Comfort 🏞️
Light exercise is beneficial to maintain muscle tone and circulation. Adjust her workload as pregnancy progresses. Provide a clean, dry, and spacious area for her to rest and foal when the time comes.

4. Monitor Her Health 👀
Watch for changes in appetite, behavior, or signs of discomfort.Observe her udder development and monitor for signs of milk production, which typically starts 2-6 weeks before foaling.

5. Prepare for Foaling 🍼
Create a quiet, safe, and well straw-bedded space for foaling. Have your foaling kit ready with essentials like clean towels, iodine, gloves, and your vet’s emergency contact information. Know the signs of impending labour, such as restlessness, pacing, and waxing. Pregnancy is a special time that requires extra care and attention. By supporting your mare with the right care, you’re giving her and her foal the best chance for a healthy outcome 🌟

🦄 Thinking of putting your mare in foal but not sure whether to send to stud?🦄

There are many advantages to sending your mare to stud for artificial insemination, including
✨ More cost effective - due to the volume of mares studs are usually able to negotiate cheaper vet packages.
✨ Direct access to professional experience and knowledge
✨ If you are sending the mare to the stud where the stallion stands you will then be able to benefit from fresh semen as opposed to chilled
✨ Studs have the necessary facilities to perform the work safely and effectively and usually have qualified AI techs on-site
✨ Breeding is time-consuming and mares won't work to your schedule. Studs are able to work to the mare's schedule and timing to scan as needed, they don't have to worry about scanning mares before, after or around work or other commitments - scanning mares is the commitment!

Why choose us?
✅ Transparent pricing - know exactly what you're working with to help you budget. We charge £7 per day up to a cap of £400 all inclusive, meaning even if your mare takes 3 months to get to a heartbeat scan the livery will never cost more than £400. No hidden extra costs.
✅ Very competitive vet packages
✅ Available for mares going to resident or non-resident stallions
✅ No collection fees for resident stallions
✅ No insemination fees
✅ No in-foal or grooms fees
✅ Resident stallions mean access to best quality fresh semen at all times whenever the mare needs it, even if it's with 5 minutes notice and regardless of bank holidays and weekends!
✅ Opportunity to easily change stallions if required
✅ Very experienced team including AI tech set in new purpose built facilities
✅ Resident stallions are available No Foal No Fee - no pregnancy, no stud fee

🥳🥳 INTRODUCING - PEGASUS🥳 🥳
Meet Casper!
This very rising 4yo cremello AES c**t is the latest addition to our stallion string and wow we are so excited to have him with us.

A beautiful, correct athletic model from proven lines with the sweetest, kindest, cuddliest temperament and just bursting with personality, he is everything we look for in a potential breeding stallion. He was gold graded as a foal and combines top class lines for both dressage and jumping.

Casper is by Camlough Delphi, son of the world renowned Grand Prix dressage stallion Treliver Decanter who is himself a son of Dimaggio.

And as if that wasn't special enough, on the dam side we have a multi-discipline mare bred by the world class Cooley stud in Ireland and by the one and only Crown's Ace of Pearl. Ace is a hugely popular and much loved stallion, renowned for his exceptional temperament, conformation and the quality of his offspring including multiple licensed stallions, whilst also being a proven competition horse himself competing to 1.30m showjumping.

Turning 4 this year we are really looking forward to cracking on with him and getting him going under saddle. He will be available to a very limited number of mares for his first season in 2025 as we focus more on his ridden career so if you are thinking of using him get in touch sooner rather than later. We are confident he is going to be a very popular boy in seasons to come! I'm so excited to share his progress with you so you fall in love with him as much as we have.

Casper is WFFS negative and can only produce palomino and buckskin foals to non-dilute mares.

Preparing Your Stallion for Breeding 🐎🌱🌟
Breeding season is not far away at all now! Now is the time to start preparing and making sure your stallion is ready for the season ahead. To ensure your stallion is ready to perform at his best and maintain a healthy, successful season, here are a few key things to consider:

1️⃣ Health and Fitness:
Jumping on a dummy or mare is a physically strenuous activity for stallions and demanding on the joints, tendons and muscles, especially when you have a stallion who is getting a lot of mares. We spend the winter working the stallions to make sure they enter the breeding season at peak strength and fitness so that they can cope better with the physical demands and reduce the risk of injury. Any signs of pain or ill health are dealt with immediately and the boys receive regular physio throughout and after the season. Pain, ill health and stress are all things that can affect fertility.

2️⃣ Diet and Nutrition:
Every stallion is different with their own needs and should be fed accordingly. With the breeding season in mind, a balanced diet with the right mix of energy, protein, and minerals is crucial. It is not uncommon for stallions to drop weight during the season, especially ones who are collecting frequently, and so their diet should be monitored and adjusted accordingly. If a stallion comes into the season light they are likely to struggle. Feed will also support reproductive health and there are supplements you can add to help with this such as omega-3 and vitamin E. It takes around 3 months to see the effects of feeding on s***m production so start feeding for fertility now!

3️⃣ Behaviour and Training: Work on handling and manners, particularly during teasing or collecting. Groundwork is essential as a good stallion needs to respect the handler and be able to back up confidently when asked for getting both on and off the dummy. If your stallion needs to be trained to jump the dummy then it is best to start early in the season to make sure he is confident.

4️⃣ Health tests: Stallions should be vaccinated and wormed up to date as standard but before the breeding season they will also need to be tested for EIA and EVA and CEM swabbed as a minimum. These tests need to be done new for each season and are asked for on breeding paperwork.

5️⃣ Flush out collections and semen analysis: Stallions will usually need to do several flush out collections to 'clear the pipes' before the season starts. Once the stallion has been sufficiently flushed and is producing normally then a semen analysis is helpful to identify any issues. It's also a great opportunity to do any extender tests if required.

🐴💙

Preparing your stallion isn’t just about physical health—it’s about ensuring his mental well-being too. A calm, well-cared-for stallion is key to a successful breeding season!
