Lucky Mutts Rescue Lucky Mutts Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing, fostering and finding forever homes for dogs in need.

We are based in Milwaukee, WI. Lucky Mutts Rescue is an all volunteer organization dedicated to rescuing, fostering and finding forever homes for dogs in Wisconsin and surrounding areas. We also work with public shelters in portions of the Southern United States due to the high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation; dogs given up by their owners because of difficult times; and those in dang

er of abuse or neglect. We at Lucky Mutts Rescue adhere to a comprehensive adoption process that includes careful consideration and research to find the right matches and educate prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and families. All animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all necessary vaccinations and medical treatment, and are placed in loving foster homes until the right match is found and they are placed permanently in their forever homes.

Who's looking for the world's best cuddler!?!

Hi, I'm Comet! I'm a year old, 43lb Vizla/Shepherd boy and I'm so excited to meet a new person to play with! Do you know Tug or Fetch!? I also like Tug or wrestling with my doggy friends, I can go all day! I tug on my leash a little when there's a new person or dog to make friends with, otherwise I'm a very good walking buddy.

I don't want to be left alone, I'd rather follow you everywhere. If I do have to go in the crate I'll get loud and upset for awhile, but once I know you're out of earshot I'll settle down and wait for you to come back. I'm also used to sleeping in a crate, as long as you don't take too long getting up in the morning! I don't like getting pet and scratched as much as my friends. I do love to snuggle in next to you on the couch, it's so warm!

I am very good at sitting and laying down, and I'd be very excited to learn more tricks (for treats!) I'm also very good at handling my bathroom business outside, though I'm not very good at planning ahead and might need some extra time to remember what I'm supposed to be doing out here!

I truly am "OUT OF THIS WORLD"!!! Could it be that the stars align perfectly and I finally get to meet my forever family? Is it you?? I'd love to meet you and find out!

The many faces of Kilo!! 😍

Hi I'm Kilo! I'm a big sturdy Pittie mix (65lbs!) who just wants attention and love from some nice people. They guess me to be around 2 1/2 years old. I get very happy when you say my name and look my way, and once I know you like me I'll come lean up against your legs for some butt scratches. I like making friends and playing with other dogs, my favorite games are wrestling and playing tug (I win every time). Most of the day I'm happy just napping, sometimes I'll look outside and whine if I see any nice looking people or dogs walking past. I enjoy going out for walks and don't tug, though I won't make it terribly far before I get tired and want to slow down. You better hold on if I see a bunny or squirrel though, I'll want to go very fast if I see those! My zoomies in the house are also very fast and clumsy, but luckily I'm too lazy to do that often! I prefer just cuddling on the couch, or I'll hang out on a nearby bed if the couch gets too warm or crowded. After a few days learning the new rules and routine, I'm also very good at doing my business outside. I'm a good sleeper too, once I know I'm safe in my new home, I'll sleep right through the night and wait for you to start the next day. I don't particularly like my crate, but I'll lie down and sleep in one if you want me to - a treat to coax me in goes a loooong way!

Hi Wisconsin, I'm Luca! I'm a 44 pound neutered male bulldog mix between 3-4 years old. I'm a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, with maybe a tiny bit of sass (but mostly just sweet). My foster mom calls me a funny little meatball. I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be a compliment.

I LOVE people (and kids), snuggling and attention. I love to rest my big ol' head on my humans and gaze into their eyes. I'm a champion napper (I love a good sunny spot) but I love going for walks, too. There's SO much to see and so many people to meet. I'm still working on having a loose leash when I walk - I get so excited, it's hard to hold back sometimes! I'm pretty sure those people want to pet me! Who wouldn't?

I'll rest quietly in my crate when I'm alone or at bedtime, and I like a chew toy with me in case I get bored. I have lived with other dogs and got along well, but I really wouldn't mind being the center of attention. If there are dogs in the home, I prefer dogs that are more submissive, and I also like to have my own food bowl at home. I get so excited for food, I do a little tippy tap dance.

I'll sometimes use my voice if I see or hear dogs or people nearby. It's only polite to answer if other dogs are talking to me, but that may not be appropriate for an apartment. I haven't had any accidents in the house, and I sit by the door to let my foster mom know when I need a trip outside.
If you think having a happy little meatball around sounds great, I might be just the guy for you!

Hey future family! My name is Barkley and I am an 11 month old Shepherd Mix weighing about 70 pounds.

I enjoy playing with other dogs of all sizes, but I am also content as an only dog too! I like to play tug of war with my foster siblings and with all sorts of toys. I’m a higher energy lad and like to have various forms of enrichment throughout the day. I’m a great candidate for going to the dog park or doggy daycare! I’m an expert cuddler too! I sleep through the night cuddled up next to my foster mom. I am not a huge fan of the crate, since I would much prefer to be with you! If all human food is put away, I have proven to be trustworthy in the house. I get along great with my foster cat sibling but sometimes we like to play, so dog savvy cats would be preferred. I’ve also met a guinea pig and didn’t mind her! I'm looking for a forever family that would take me on adventures in the car, to the dog park and a family that I would be able to make memories with. In my foster home so far I have learned “sit”, "lay down", “paw”, “touch," and to come to my name when called. Another thing you should know about me is that I LOVE water!! I’ve gone swimming a few times and it’s so much fun! I’ve made many human and furry friends, but right now I would do best with kids 8+ because I’m still learning to keep all 4 paws on the floor, but I’m working hard on it! I would love to be your forever adventure buddy. I’m a sweet handsome playful lad in search of my forever family! If you think we’d make a great match, apply today and see if we can be together forever! ❤️

It's no mystery that Ziggy would make a great addition to any family.

Ziggy is a 2 year old, terrier mixed breed weighing in at the perfect size of 24 pounds. Ziggy loves to be included regardless of the activity. He enjoys being outside, going on walks or visiting the dog park but also loves cuddling up on the couch for movie night. Ziggy loves making new friends and will introduce himself to any person or dog with tail wagging. Ziggy would love to have another fur-sibling or be part of a family with a semi-active lifestyle. He loves to play and needs an outlet for his "puppy" energy. Ziggy does great in the crate during the day and can make it a full 8 hour work day with no issues. He also hasn't had any misses and knows to take care of his business outside. Ziggy loves exploring outside and could use some addition guidance on how to properly walk on the leash. He would be a good candidate for an apartment or house. Ziggy can be a little vocal when passing other dogs on the street but is typically quiet when indoors. Ziggy would love to find his furever home and give his new family endless love.

***NEW ARRIVAL***

Who's looking for a tiny buddy to go for long walks and cuddle? If it's you, Draco just might be your guy. Draco is a male chihuahua mix, about 2 years old and weighs 8 lbs. He has a nice combination of playfulness and calmness, and is very social with other dogs and people. He rarely barks, knows to go potty outside, does well on a leash and loves car rides. Draco does need to get his energy out -- usually a nice long walk or some vigorous playing will do the trick. Draco's tiny size and adorable face get him a lot of attention, which he loves! Despite his small size, he will certainly fill your heart with joy.
