Our spokesperson died…
Our product died…
Our business died…
But we’re still here
Quarantine was really hard for Boston Pet Products. Our sweet feline spokesman, Norman, passed away quickly and unexpectedly (he was only three years old). He was our family pet and his loss devastated us. Our canine spokeswoman, Shiloh, who was up there in age, also passed away.
Our most popular product, our hip and joint supplement, was impacted by supply chain issues. Rather than compromise the safety of our product and the health of our customers’ pets health, we made the decision to discontinue the supplement. So our most popular product died as well.
Finally, with the loss of our leading product and the grief over losing Norman and general COVID challenges, we decided to let our business die, too. Lots of sadness all around.
But I’m here to tell you that BPP has come back. And while we can’t bring our beloved pets back, we do have a new spokesman. Meet Humphrey. Rescued from the Animal Rescue League in Boston, and named by our 17 year old, Mr. Humphrey is 15 years old, has thumbs and is truly the sweetest, most trusting cat we have ever had the pleasure to call family. When first seeing him at the shelter, we noted how calm he was and how he seemed really interested in all that was going on around him. He came to greet us immediately, and right then and there we decided there was no way we could leave him there. As we bundled him up and brought him to his forever home, we made an promise that Humphrey’s remaining time on this earth would be filled with an abundance of love, care and joy. And of course, great food.
And even though we no longer offer the supplement, we are working on offering a new supplement in the future. In the meantime, we are offering products that support pets’ joint health and/or bring them comfort in the face of joint pain, hip dysplasia and arthritis. We have also added some miscellaneous items to our General Store that may include day-to-day items that are not related to hip & joint concerns. We are constantly adding new items.
The pandemic was hard, but we are back. As a small, woman-owned business, we didn’t receive any stimulus. Still we will continue to donate a portion of our sales, 2%, to local shelters because we support the incredible work they do on a daily basis for the well being of so many who have nothing — sweet animals who were once abused who need to learn to trust again, pets (like our dear Humphrey) who lost loving long-term families and now find themselves without a permanent home, and animals in all types of scenarios who depend on the kindness of strangers for their very well-being.
Please share our store with your friends and family. Let us know if there are any items you’d like for us to carry. Leave reviews for our products to help support more sales as we get back on our feet (and paws!).
We are so happy to be back. COVID may have stopped us temporarily, but it wasn’t strong enough to stop us permanently. Thank you for all of your prayers and positive emails. We love you and your fur babies very much.
