Sorry we haven't posted much this last week after announcing that we added 5 new "breeders".. it's been a whole ordeal with these poor babies this past week.
These poor babies have lived their entire lives in kennels outdoors. They're TERRIFIED of everything, and this is not the usual fear associated with rehoming an older dog. These dogs shake in fear, tremor when they receive pets, don't want treats, etc. Just look at Poppy shaking in fear in the video just because we was NEAR her.
Thankfully were making progress (video was day 1)! Everyone except for Brody, the male, have to be on leashes which is taking HOURS everyday because they're so scared of human touch that it's hard to catch them and we don't want to chase them which can result in more fear. They're all finally eating after finding the right combo of toppers for their food, and starting to show more signs of trusting us - Moxie finally rolled over for a belly rub today which is HUGE.
To top it off, Brody was sold with full AKC to us for BREEDING. Brody has severe CDA (color dilution alopecia) which as most of y'all know, we will not breed that into our program. We didn't notice at pickup as he was peeing everywhere so she put him in the crate so I wouldn't get peed on (big red flag - he was peeing in FEAR). I noticed the moment we got home, the worst part is we talked about this before I got him about how we have been working for years to breed dilutes without CDA, and when I brought this to her attention, her response was "Well no one has cared." It's not the buyer job to care, it's the breeders job to not breed it into their program!! Brody's neuter will be scheduled for mid Oct, and we don't know when we will be able to place him in a pet home. I won't place him until I feel he is emotionally ready. He's made amazing progress, but it'll still take time before we're ready.

Roxie had her x-ray this morning, then had her pups this evening. 🥰
She had 4 babies --- 1 black & tan piebald female (Sassy), 2 black and tan females (Sammy & Stella), and 1 black & tan dapple piebald male (Soldier). Most likely smooth coats, but possibility of long hairs.
Her male was born with a ruptured umbilical hernia and thankfully we caught it prior to Roxie doing any damage to the intestines. He underwent after hours surgery to get the intestines back in and sewed up. We will be bottle feeding him indefinitely, hopefully he can go back with his litter in 7-14 days. He is not out of woods, by no means. If he makes it through the night, we stand a chance 💙💙💙 this little fighter has earned the name, Soldier. Video is of the little guy during his first feeding.
