Once you can get the queen in the box, the rest march on in! Swarms just want to be productive! These bees were so gentle..
Easy simple way to get 15-20,000 bees into a box... :)
So proud of Rob Schwartz! Today was the launch of the Bee Connected program at Manor Farm.
This worker bee found some much needed pollen and workin double duty by helping remove moisture/control tempature on an empty frame of bees...
Honey extraction day!!! 10-7-23

After 3 nesting seasons of Mandarin ducks, none of their eggs were viable, I did what any crazy waterfowl owner does and add another pair to the flock! Meet George and Martha! ( Named based todays Independence day!) Adding this pair will help stimulate the flock and is very healthy for them all. (7-4-23 Mrs Waddles meets and grooms Martha!)
OMG - this honey is simply DELISH! (Old School honey the way it's suppose to be!) We have the following offerings: Golden Wildflower Honey! Perfect for allergies (RAW HONEY)
1.5 lb Jars with a piece of comb honey
1 lb jars with a piece of comb honey
1 lb jars honey
3/4 lb Jar Honey
1/2 lb honey
Comb Honey 6" x 6" square
Creamed Honey 1/2 pound and 1 pound
(Video - Liz removed wax capings from a frame of honey)
This year's honey collection was awesome. The honey we have is a golden light wildflower honey - absolutely amazing. Due to demand we created 3 sizes of honey. 1.5 lb Glass Jars - 1.0 lb Glass Jars and 1/2 lb Glass Jars. Being a beekeeper I need to know how much honey to take (excess honey) from a hive and how much to leave for the bee's overwinter. If a beekeeper knows his/her bees well, we can identify the time in the season the bees will cap their honey. Early in the season the honey is VERY light and golden. Later in the season the honey gets darker and darker. "The cream of the crop" is separated from the rest of the honey which is what we are selling now. We have 1.5lb jars with a chunk of wax comb in them for both 1lb and 1.5 lb (very limited amounts) Msg me for more info and pricing!

Queen Bee laying eggs
Such an amazing busy year. Here is a video of a queen in one of my hives laying eggs..
Mandarin fun!!
Our silly gooses. I mean ducks!!!
All the bee's are now packed in for the winter - they will have a long hard road to make it through winter. This little mouse wants in on the party - warmth and honey - sorry lil mouse - not in my hives.. 11-13-21
Extration - many many hours it took to remove the honey organically.... How swwt it is!
What would you do for a kernel of corn?
Another swarm captured and relocated.... Thanks to cring people that called me instead of killing them with pestisides... Thank you!
One of "those" days when whatever you plan for the day, doesn't happen because this happened! One of my hives swarmed - I must of missed that hive! I simulated a thunder storm using a tin garbage can cover - banging it to make this bees think a thunderstorm was coming - and it worked - they landed in an empty box I places in a spot I hoped they would go - and they did!
Today the bee's were out! I put 4 frames of honey from last season out in the apiary so the forage bee's could collect much needed food for their hives! So excited to get back into workin' them bee's! 3-17-21
